" Pick-up is fully self-service. Even though there was an extremely helpful lady in the pick-up office, it was an utterly baffling experience. Vehicle inspection at drop-off was utterly ridiculous. It was like he was inspecting a £200,000 Lamborghini. I'd sooner get the bus than rent from Guerin again. "

" As stated previously being relieved of 411.88 Euros at the end of a holiday was interesting.. It's difficult to understand if this is a method of creating further revenue from customers that have no real means to dispute. I doubt very much if this money will go to fix the minor scratch and to replace the ' I ' from the QASHQAI name plate on the rear of the vehicle. As all vehicles are turned around and made available to other renters within hours. All scratches / dints and blemishes should be noted on the on the renters paperwork as a matter of practice and gives an element of trust that you are accepting a vehicle that is as honest as possible. In future I will take photos of every side of the vehicle and not accept it as is. I think this is a scheme to relieve renters of revenue, which I find despicable and very suspect. "
" Check in and pick up a breeze as the Guerin system had my details already from a previous hire, so this was 5 stars. The car itself was fine very clean inside and the body had a few scratches, mostly on the doors which I noted as they were pretty obvious. Its difficult to know if these scratches were noted on the Guerin system, when you accept the vehicle there is no formal hand over and walk around with a Guerin representative, you are just given the keys and told roughly the location. The hand back was interesting .. The car was fully fuelled and required a light inside valet, and a quick wash. The exterior walk around noted a minor paintwork scratch on the passenger side just below the tailgate boot, essentially high on the painted bumper. Almost could be missed as it was so minor, also a note was made that the 'I ' was missing from the 'QASHQAI' nameplate on the rear of the vehicle. No obvious traces of glue on the tailgate showing the 'I ' was missing. I strongly suspect that this was removed by the jet washing at the Guerin facility. Very frustrating as the hand back representatives know you have a limited time and the probably know you as the renter have limited possibilities, as they have your credit card. Whilst the hand back representative was professional in their manner, as the renter you are not in a good position, an easy way to be revived of 411.88 Euros. Which leaves a very nasty taste! "

" All in all very good except for check out which was very poor and we were told to video and photograph all the marks and damage on the car as if we did not we would be charged for it. They were very many marks and points of damage. Many were challenged on return and it was for us to prove that they were there when we collected the car. "

I'm always nervous of using third party firms, but this one seemed to work ok. I have 2 further holidays planned and will be looking at Auto Europe for hire cars. this rental was reasonable value for money. "

" This was my first time using Guerin, the office was a short walk from the arrivals terminal which proved convenient. Staff were friendly and provided assistance in completing the booking at collection time. I had to call the customer service number during the rental to ask a simple question. The call was answered quickly. Drop was was painless and we quickly left to check in at the airport. "

" This was my 5th car rental with Guerin in the space of a year. This car's aircon did not work but also i received 3 penalty notices before leaving for Portugal for unpaid tolls from 3 of the 4 previous contracts with them. I argued strongly with their customer services team as to the wholly unjust nature of the fines with a company called EPC but Guerin would not budge. I will never use Guerin again and I have told them so in no uncertain terms. "

" The car was riddled with unrecorded "damage" on collection, 34 images were taken by myself and presented to them prior to taking the car. Upon return they went over the whole car and claimed I caused some of the damage even though I showed them proof. The manager refused to except the photos (that were geo tagged and time/dated at the point of collection), told me to leave and raise a complaint via email, I politely refused and asked to resolve there an then as leave suggests excepting liability but they threatened to call the police refused to discuss with me any further. Appalling service will never use again and will never recommend to anyone. "

" We are usually supporters of Guerin. This time there was confusion over the type of car and some system glitches which made the pick up process very slow. On return, although we had cleaned the car and are very regular clients of Guerin we were charged €75 in cleaning charges due to some sand in the footwell (no mats) which could not be seen but was felt by the attendant. "

" not entirely convinced that the rental company inspection of existing damages to the vehicle on my collection was composite enough. As i have said, the fact i did many photos and a video to evidence the vehicle condition on collection has saved me form any potential claim for damages they may have made. "

" Overall taking away the cleanliness of the vehicle and having to deal with a screen instead of a human being on collection was a good experience and I had also hired through yourselves a last year and that was a great experience that's why I booked again for this summer. Maybe I will book again next year if the price is reasonable, at the end of the day its all about the cost and service. "
" When I got to pick up point staff not really helpful, I had to use a screen and input all the information again even though everything including all details were imputed at the time of the original booking. The car was great but on collection noticed that it needed a wash as the windscreen was full of dry insects and the interior also needed a clean so the the following day I took the car to be washed and vacuumed as it was hard to get proper visibility from the screen. But everything else was fine. "

" On pickup I queried use of Android Auto I staed of paying for Sat Nav. The receptionist said I could use my own pno e with Android Auto but did not have the correct cable. He sent me to a garage up the road but due to language difficulties they sold me the wrong one and we were unable to get a refund as the packaging had been torn open. Rather than waste time and risk not getting the right cable we eventually got to our destination. However the rest of the holiday was made more difficult due to no English Sat Nav. Had to use s all mobile which y wife had to hold and give me directions. Guerin are missing a trick here by not setting up a working Sat Nav for their customers on arrival. Car was very good. "

It was parked in a dark , not very well lit area in the car park so could not properly inspect the vehicle for any pre-existing damages/scuffs etc . I found one damage later in the day when it was in brighter light. I reported this straight away to Guerin by email. Overall the vehicle was very good and easy to drive. "

" I have been using Auto Europe since sometime in the 1990s and have always been satisfied with the service and choice of cars. The grid system of display in particular is helpful in determining who to rent from when travelling to different international destinations "
" The car was relatively new and easy to drive and at a very good price. The only drawback was that after booking a car for 10 days, my plans changed slightly and I needed the car a day earlier. I therefore went on line and booked the same car type for the previous 24 hours. When I collected the car from Portimão, the agent Graca said I would have to return the following day and fill all the forms in again for the following 10 days. I asked her to do the bookinglin 24 hours early but she said the computer would not allow it. Whilst booking in another customer was booking in just before me. When he saw the Seat Arona, he objected that it was too small "like a go-kart". Graca asked me if I would swap the Renault Captur that I was being provided with for the other man's Arona. I said I would and the other customer was satisfied and I took the slightly smaller car (of the same class). I asked again if having done the company a favour to satisfy the the other customer, could they not do me a favour by allowing me to phone in the following day and booking in remotely. Graca said she would ask her manager. The following morning I phoned three times between 09:00 and 10:30 from Silves area to book the car again and the phone went unanswered until it disconnected itself. Eventually, with no response, I drove to Portimão to get there by 11:00; the booking in time. I booked in and then realised because I had not come from my residence, I did not have my credit card with me only a debit card specifically for using abroad called Currensea. This was not acceptable and it was suggested I would have to return to Silves, get the credit card and return. This despite the fact that the office would be shut because they close at lunchtime. I refused and pointed out they already had the card details from the previous day. There was a polite standoff and eventually Graca said she thought she could trust me and if I phoned the card number through that would do. I pointed out that I was only at the office because they had not answered the phone and there was a limit to how much time I was prepared trying to phone an office that only opened in the mornings and didn't answer the phone because they had customers at the desk. At this Graca said she would give me her personal mobile phone number and if I sent her a WhatsApp with the card number she would sort it out. This was agreed and I sent the card number as soon as I got back to the villa where I was staying. I did not get a reply so the following day sent another to which she replied that she had received it. During this whole process which was exasperating, I remained polite as did Graca and I was aware that she was constrained by the inflexibility of the company software. As it is impossible, to provide software that covers all unknown eventualities, it should have an override system and immediate access to someone with the authority to permit the override (whether on the premises or remotely). Computers at present are still electronic idiots and although AI may eventually be able to make a decision based on a persons body language, customer satisfaction is more likely to be achieved when dealing person to person with someone who is allowed to make decisions. "

" Very easy to book, but I didn't have the Guerin contract number on your email confirmation, which made it difficult to return the car. The electronic car return facility needs the Guerin contract number - this is not on your email and not provided in Guerin's email, so took a long time to return the car. Other than this, very good experience! "
" When I collected the vehicle, Guerin said that I would receive an email with the condition of the car and any current damage. I did not receive this email. Fortunately, I took photos all round the vehicle in case they come back to me later with any issues related to damage. Guerin contract number is needed for vehicle return, which is not on your email documentation. Vehicle also provided with low tyre pressure and warning light on permanently. "

" I picked up the car at Sao Miguel Airport in the azores. Clear instructions from service desk in the airport to the car collection staff outside. We got a nearly new Ford focus which was a pleasant surprise. Normally I feel like I'm being rushed when checking over the car but with Guerin, they encouraged me to take time checking over it, told me to take photos of any damage and were very accommodating when we noticed things that they didn't have noted down already. Very satisfied with the experience in this location. "

" I have chosen the Guerin option from the Autoeurope list for several years even though they have not always been the cheapest option. I have found them friendly, honest and reliable and their cars are often low mileage e.g. 7000 kms this year. The only downside was the hire charges made by all the hire companies which were much more expensive than 2019. "

" At around close to six no staff at for drop off. When conducting the inspection report they found bits of gums in the passenger mat which I believe was transferred into the car by shoes whenever accessed. Manager was very rude when I tried to explain which to be fair I only noticed at the drop off . Even though I paid the advised by them insurance that supposed to cover all and he didn't care about waiving off, bare in mind the cost of the insurance I paid is way too expensive which was in par with the price of the vehicle so very disappointed and intend not to use your services again. "

I did not agree with their assessment that a respray would be required for some very light scratches on the bonnet. I think they would I pay need polishing. I had not noticed any damage and the scratches probably came from washing it, removing the orange saharan dust which had been settling on cars for the previous week due to the weather conditions. "

The employee didn't move from behind the counter, and said that on those cars (Renault Captur) the level was always just below "1". When I filled up the car with fuel, just before the drop-off, I noticed that the level was actually above the "1" and not below, as he had stated. At the drop-off, a different employee said he was very sorry. However, that apology cost me some 10 Euros. Will take a picture next time that happens. Everything else was quite good - very quick process at arrival; car was very clean and ready to collect; the drop-off was smooth, fast and efficient. Another thing - windscreen washer tank was EMPTY on collection of the car. "

" Excellent staff, fast collection and drop off..... vehicle had damage to rear passenger side door (dent and scrapes) from previous hirer and staff said couldn't change at same grade (although their car park had plenty of vehicles) only if upgraded to a BMW 1 (from a Citroen C3) at an extra 70 euros!!! - Couldnt be bothered to delay departure by arguing so took the damaged car which also didnt have a great clutch even though a 2019 model with only 11000 km on clock.... have driven many many cars and I am sure this was NOT as supplied new but rather by bad driving by previous hirers.... also unexpectedly asked for a 300 euro deposit hold on credit card even though booked with full protection... no other hire company ever asked for this "

As a result I was offered a car I din't like and then an upgrade for a higher class which increased the contract by 2/3. I am not sending any documents via such insecure means, and I requested a refund. Instead of a refund, I have been charged further by Guerin. Still waiting on my refund. Soon I will contact my bank and ask them to reverse the transaction if I do not hear from your end. "

" Have used AutoEurope many times in recent years - and the experience has always been fine. Easy to book, variety of providers and good insurance add-ons. To be fair, though, I've not had any issues with the car providers (like accidents or claims), so cannot comment on that side of things. "

" Booked estate car was supplanted by small SUV a renault captur which our four adults and baggage would not fit in. The staff member asked for 110 euros more for a SEAT Leon estate diesel, mentioning it was better fuel price than Petrol. He negotiated down to 65 euros for the week. I saw no other option but to take and pay extra. The Leon was an estate, had a low mileage and had the transponder fitted for motorway driving. Nevertheless I felt cheated by the experience having paid a supplement to have a similar car that I had booked through Auto europe. I surmise it was a busy time and they had overbooked. I was tired, it was hot and many people were waiting to be served. I needed a large enough car that I had correctly specd to hold four adults and six bags/suitcases. "

" I was taken into hospital while I was in Portugal and had to extend the rental period by 3 days. I contacted Guerin in Portugal who tried to put me through to you in the UK but I couldn't connect as it was a 0800 number. I asked a friend in the UK to phone you and you told them I had to contact GUERIN in Portugal. GUERIN seemed surprised that you couldn't help me from the UK. In the end they sorted the extra days for me in their Tavira office. They said that Auto Europe wanted them to charge me 400 euros for the 3 days but if I took it with them it would be 190 euros which I accepted. I though both charges were excessive especially yours. I thought my treatment by Auto Europe was appalling you let me down badly I will NOT be using you again "

" Not specifically about Guerin, but they gave me a Citroen C3 car, which when I collected it I was told that these cars have a problem with the electronic fuel gauge, ie even when the fuel tank is filled up to pump cut-off point the gauge doesn't show it's fully full and I was advised to keep the refuelling receipts for the return journey which I did. The problem did occur when I topped up near Lisbon airport and when I returned the car I told the staff of the problem and produced the receipts which they accepted there was a problem. "

Reception staff seem oblivious to the frustration felt by the people waiting to be served, with no common courtesy of advising people of the reason for the delay. Reception staff appeared more interested in selling add on insurance cover( presumably on commission) than reducing the ever increasing queue. "

Because of their very brief look at the car and miniscule mark, and nothing stolen because nothing ever left in car, and because of their aggressive attitude after about 60 seconds I said "this smells of fraud". At no time did we ever use the key because we used the fob from beginning to end. Because we could not prove anything we paid up after a very angry exchange - 400+ Euros. We got this back from our insurance company in UK. On a statement at Guerin we expressed our beliefs. On arrival back in UK we informed the police in Portugal, I believe the police at Faro airport. On the Internet there were several similar experiences. "

" I was given a car at Lisbon airport with a half full tyre. I was told it just needed air. Following day, Friday bank holiday, 1st May the tyre was completely flat...I called Guerin assistance Saturday morning and the only option available was to drive for 60 km to the near Guerin. No other assistance is available on weekends and my stay was only a long weekend. Cutting a long story short: staff was unreliable when delivering the car which was not in good condition, Guerin assistance was inexistent - only the customer has to take action and lastly, upon the return of the car, it was "said" it must have been a slow puncture! No, this is not the service someone needs when rent/ any car abroad specially only for long weekend. HM 4/5/2015 "

" When I arrived to Guerin balcony they started to offer a lot of other insurances and fees. In fact they said the insurance I´d already contracted was with Auto-Europe and not with them (Guerin). Ok they were gentle but didn´t respect my contract with Auto-Europe, they treated as a new contract with them. "

" The service that we received through the booking process and picking up of the car was as usual, excellent. However, I need to change my drop off time from morning to evening and tried to contact Auto-Europe using the number provided but could not get an answer - this was mid morning on a Monday, I ended up arranging the extension directly with the hire company, who arranged this for us. My point in this is that the phone was not being answered. This has not tainted my relationship with Auto-Europe that goes back many years. "

" It was not the 1st time that I've had a car from guerin with Auto Europe and to be honest, was my favorite car rental... Until this time... I had no problems with the car during the rental but when I delivered the car back, the guy checked the car and saw a very small... I repeat, a very small scratch on one of the rear alloy wheels, which I can't recall at all doing it and I was the only person to drive the car. Anyway, in the end I had to pay 170?!?! for a job that with a small tin of polish material (5) will remove the very small scratch. So to conclude, what was a very good Christmas deal and time spent, became a nightmare... paid more for the scratch then the all rental. "

" Had an upgrade which made the hill climbing in Portugal easier and a very pleasant drive but having the boys in the back of a sporting car when they are both over 6 feet was difficult so we didn't make the long drives up the coast that we normally do. "

" I have used GUERIN several times and they are difficult to beat. However, why does it take so long to process the booking out of a car? Why can't the details be supplied on line beforehand? It takes about 20 minutes, if there are two people in front of you, that's on average an hour!!! It takes 3 hours to fly to south Portugal and an hour to get a pre booked car - something is really wrong here! Pretty well everyone is confused over insurance, the credit card deposit, the toll counter and it's costs. So in addition to the bureaucracy they are always heated discussions going on in the check-in. Lets the whole process down. "

We would not choose Guerin again, but would opt for a different supplier, with pick up locations on the airport site. "

I was the main driver @ 71 and had to "climb" out of the drivers seat. We requested a larger more suitable car and bingo tomorrow we had it. " Ordered a Ford Focus ESTATE or equivalent Estate car but was given a Nissan Qasqui which though a bulky car had limited luggage space. One of our four cases had to be carried inside the vehicle. The vehicle was well presented and serviceable though. Initial reception greeting was a little clinical. The lady seemed very keen to sell me additional insurance etc and was very dismissive when I told her I had my own cover .. that has nothing to do with us was her term. Didn't realise I'd have to leave a 2000euro security deposit. Be better if these extras were more clearly stated when booking. Return check in was a very different and more pleasurable experience with a very friendly inspector. "
