" Dear Hertz Team, I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent rental experience with Hertz. My experience was far from satisfactory; it was dangerous and reckless, a clear duty of care issue, and I am disappointed with the level of service provided. Thank you for the full invoice. I am still having difficulty accessing all the information, but I will try on my computer at my earliest convenience. However, I have no knowledge of any scratches or dents, but I am aware of the tyre situation. As outlined below, this was a distressing situation. I must bring to your attention a distressing incident that occurred. On Monday, 25th August, I received a call from the Hertz breakdown team at around 5 pm, which was concerning an incident that happened at approximately 1:30 am on the 22nd August. During this time, I, along with three other individuals – two females and two children – were left stranded without any support in the middle of the night. This situation was not only inconvenient but also quite distressing for us, especially considering the presence of young children. The Austrian police became involved, and this added to my stress. We called the number given to us on the rental agreement letter, and there was no service. We tried several times, and it stated no service was available, and the whole party became upset. The following day after being rescued, we enlisted the help of the receptionist at the place we were staying in Austria. She rang the German Roadside Assistance, as outlined on the key and paperwork, and on each of the three occasions they spoke, they promised to ring me. They failed to ring after 2 calls from the police and the 30-minute timescale to remove the car. The receptionist rang Hertz in Innsbruck, and I must commend this section of Hertz as they had the whole thing sorted in 30 minutes, and the car was taken to a garage and the tire repaired. At this time, I still had not received a call from the German roadside assistance. The call did not come until 25th August, four days into the 10-day hire period. We were left with no hire car, complete stress, and an upset party of people expecting to go back to the car only to find that the Austrian police had impounded it. I sincerely hope that this matter will be investigated and addressed promptly. Please be aware that if any unauthorized charges are made to my account, I will have no choice but to contact my solicitor. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution to this matter. "

" Not sure where to start from. My wife and I were served by an older blond lady, after taking my documents she started making comments of the type of car I had rented and how small and cheap it was, and that with this car I wouldn't be able to go to Austria with, even thought I had told her I only needed to go to Erdin and back. Then, she looked at a Spanish family that arrived in the queue behind me and started berating them because they should have arrived earlier and she was closing the counter, she told them in front of us she should not be working past 10pm. The family explained their flight was delayed and that they emailed to inform of the delay, she wasn't happy at all and kept on being rude to them. So much so that the father of the family commented, is this the type of appreciation we receive by renting with with Hertz? After taking my keys we went to the 6th floor to collect the car, to our astonishment the bay she wrote on the envelope WAS WRONG! And I have picture to prove it, we were rescued by the Spanish family that saw the flashing lights of a car as we were walking and trying to find the correct bay around the car park. The exact same happened to the Spanish family, she also gave them the wrong bay information and they had to go back downstairs to ask for the correct bay! If you thought this was all, the cherry on the cake comes now, the deposit she was meant to hold on my card actually ended up being charged to my card, €800 euros, to which I need to call your office and spend my time to sort it out. # she should be fired! Never experienced a worst customer service in my 50 years! A tragedy! "

" Hi, I have already raised this in the feedback questionnaire with Hertz, they have not responded yet. the person at the collection counter of Hertz was not in a good mood when I collected the vehicle and the conversation was not polite. He entered my email address wrongly and as it was not shown to me, i did not notice and wanted to get moving asap, as this was a way of getting away from the person behind the desk. The car was great, but I did NOT receive an email conversation by Hertz about the rental. I rang them at least 5 times at the desk the following day, no one picked up. I sent them an email, was later told it did not arrive, note it wasn't returned either. On the return, I made the extra effort of going back to the counter and requested the email address to be corrected, as it was indeed incorrect. This was completed and i was reassured I would get the 'close of contract' email - I never did. That lady also told me my email never arrived. I then asked Hertz to send me the missing documents via feedback questionnaire, and am still waiting for a reply. As they have since waived the credit card charge, I am assuming there was no further discussion necessary, but this should have been confirmed by Hertz in writing. Car was great and fantastic value for money. I would use Hertz again but will never walk away from a counter again without insisting to be shown the screen where they have entered my contact details. On another note, i was puzzled they needed my email in the first place, shouldn't they simply transcribe it from my autoeurope rental? thanks for reading all of this "

" I always value booking through Auto Europe, but would never ever recommend or use Hertz again, and would dissuade everyone from using them. "
" Unproblematic pick up. However the car did have some slight damages that were not recorded so I took pictures before departing. Had to wait 20+ minutes at drop-off to see an agent, who viewed the car and my pictures and declared there were no damages to record, and I was cleared to go. Two days later I get an invoice for nearly €400 with no detail on the damage. I emailed them back to contest this and shared the photos and video, in case it related to the damage I discussed with the agent. No response from Hertz. I will likely need to claim through insurance despite not being the one that caused the damage, having evidence to prove it, and being told there were no damages I would get charged for. I've never had a worse car hire experience and will steer well clear of Hertz in future. "

" I was charged an addition £125 on picking up the vehicle. Whilst some of this was expected, I dot expect to have to pay more for basic insurance - I had expected this to be included in the cost "

" No proper hand over of the vehicle when picking up, just trying to throw off extra charge for "additional" covers where already opted in for full comprehensive cover including excess protection. However, when it comes to return they come out and inspect quite thoroughly vs pick up (nothing) with no clear photos they've already taken a quite a while ago. Had I not have photos taken myself upon pick up I'd probably have ended up either paying for what they claim my fault or gone into long discussions where I had a flight to catch. Not pleasant experience at all. Please do update the photos of the vehicle with clear focus if you want to claim something against customers. "

The size caused problems during our hire period especially in small underground hotel car parks. The car itself was a plug-in hybrid with a no charge in the battery and no instructions how to charge it. Why bother with a hybrid when it can only use petrol? " Not a great experience this time around, firstly our flight was delayed which meant the counter was closed by the time we arrived. There are other rental counters open 24/7 literally 5 meters away, it's not too much to ask to hand the keys over to one of those. Next, I receive a bill after the rental for supposed damage amounting to €1500. Thankfully, I took pictures of the cars condition at the start of the rental so the claim was very quickly squashed. Very slimy behaviour. "

" Our flight from Manchester to Munich was cancelled on Saturday morning and we were rerouted via Vienna. Despite eight attempts to contact Hertz, no one answered the phone. Unbelievably, they close at 5pm on a Saturday so when we did finally arrive a couple of hours after that there was no one there and we had to hire from another firm. I have requested a full refund but have heard nothing up to now. "

" I contacted you to explain that I would miss my connecting flight from Amsterdam to Frankfurt (KLM delays) and would not be able to collect the car as now would not be arriving till the following day after an overnight stay in Schiphol. I was told you could not do anything about it and that I would have to contact the hire desk at the airport (+49 61074024300) after trying this number for a couple of hours I then contacted Hertz, they said as I had booked the car via yourself then I needed to contact you. I then tried to contact you to cancel the car but was told this was not possible. The following morning I tried the number again (no answer) so went to the Hertz hire desk. The que was so long at the desk (about a 2 hour wait) I did not have the time as I had a meeting at 91m in Frankfurt. So I have paid for a car that I never actual used!!!!! "

" I have always used Auto Europe to hire cars, but the last two experiences with Thrfty in Orlando and now Hertz in Munich have really let you down. Last year I hired a car through you and from Enterprise at Munich airport too and they too downgraded the car I had booked. When you have 5 adults and luggage you need a car that you book or one similar - not smaller. I dont see the point in giving flight numbers and times if you are going to be given what they have got. " I told the guy at the ciunter I needed a car with a large boot having booked a BMW 5 series estate or similar and was offered a small estate, the size of a hyundai 30. It was premium but no leg room at the back and small boot. I had to go back to the counter and then was offered a SUV, which again had a smaller boot. We took it and managed luggage on our laps as we hadnt time to waste going back to the counter again. The car was not what we asked for nor similar in my view. "

I asked how much the insurance was for a week and was told E360 - this was MORE than it was to hire the car. Basically, it's quite criminal of Hertz to panic a client into buying very overpriced insurance by setting a huge excess. You are meant to be helping clients, not making their holiday worse. ALSO, I was told that if I didn't fill up the car, it would cost me E750 to fill it from empty. Again, this is criminal behaviour. I drove around looking for petrol, then missed my plane, which cost me E600. And I have been asked to pay for E120 of petrol. All the behaviour of Hertz did was stress me out. "

" Diabolical service, you cannot contact the munich desk, i tried to call to say flight delayed initially, then left voice message through the phone option system requesting a call back, nothing came . i wrote an E:mail on day after pick up, finally responded the following wednesday, 5 days late. Spoke to Hertz germany on day after i was supposed to pick up, even they could not get through to munich airport hertz, no one answered and i was informed that all the customer direct phone lines had been disabled to munich and frankfurt. So arrived just after 10pm, office closed, someone waiting had said they disappeared at 9.30pm. There were 3 others waiting for cars. We were told the nachtman, would sort at 11pm, he arrived, said no keys, so couldnt help, and not his problem. So there is no ability to contact the office, the back up system doesnt work. Luckily i was able to hire a car for 24 hours at a cost of ~ 160 euro. I would like some compensation from hertz please "

" Our experience was very good - until we had an incident involving a stone hitting our windscreen and causing a crack. We are covered with CDW but have had a nightmare with Hertz, who have charged us an enormous amount, and are very difficult to make contact with to sort this out. It was impossible to check the condition once I found the car due to the amount of damage on it. This was also a high mileage vehicle. Most definitely not worth the money paid. "

" Despite having booked Ford Fiesta class, the Hertz counter staff tried to give me a Fiat 500 explaining Hertz' classification of cars is different. After discussion he first said he hadn't any cars in the higher class as they didn't know I booked one in that class. But then he changed the car. On return of the car, they first tried to blame me for a broken antenna, which I hadn't damaged. Luckily I always take photos when taking over the car. In hindsight it looks like I was given a car that wasn't properly checked and had lots of tiny damages. I hire cars at Hamburg airport on a regular basis, but haven't had such an experience before. "

" A very tiring and frustrating experience due to Hertz not supplying the correct vehicle type. We had ski bags, suitcases etc and selected an Opal Zafira to meet our requirement. This was not met by Hertz until we were provided a suitable vehicle, which would have been a lower booking cost with Auto Europe. "

We were then offered a Volvo 4x4 which we accepted, only to find a rear seat belt did not work. She offered me a Volvo XC 60, an Alfa Romeo, and a BMW estate, but I would have to pay significantly extra money. I refused. After another 10 minutes, she eventually found me a car. I declined insurance, as I had an annual policy with 'Insurance for car hire'. She asked how much I had paid, and when I said £50, she said this wasn't possible, and that it wasn't proper insurance! She insisted I couldn't be insured! After another 10 minutes of argument, she said I needed snow chains because I was going to a ski resort in Austria! I said I had been skiing many times in Austria to this resort, and that I didn't. We spent another 5 minutes arguing about this. She then said I needed Sat Nav. Again I said I didn't, and another few minutes were wasted arguing about this. She then said we had paid far too little for the car hire! I have rented numerous cars, and this was the most bizarre and unpleasant experience I have ever had! It was appalling and disgraceful! I fail to see how a Ford Galaxy can be classed as the same group as a Ford S or C Max. The room inside is considerably smaller particularly for luggage. But adBlue is not commonly used in some countries like in Thailand so it was our new experience to know and to use it. I bought a canister when the car console showed engine stop in 600 Kms if not fill in the adBlue. But not sure whether the right product so I drove to Hertz Dresden Airport to help. Eventually, I was offered a Jeep with winter tyres. The handling & fuel efficiency of the Jeep was poor but it did make it back to Munich airport. I felt pretty bad about this as I always try to bring it back in the same clean state as I picked up. I tried to explain this to the member of staff when I dropped off the car. The member of staff who checked the car was incredibly polite about this and explained that I really did not need to do this and thanked me at least cleaning the inside. The staff are always helpful and friendly and I have never been disappointed with the service or the cars provided. I have not always used Hertz specifically, but this time I used Hertz because the first booking I made (I think it was with Keddy) would not accept my debit card as a form of payment. Other than the great service and cars supplied, I shall choose Hertz cars in the future because of the acceptance of my debit card as a form of payment. "

" There was no one to show us to the car and more importantly show us the different controls such as putting sat Navan into our language and explaining the lights and auto lane controls as well as the handbrake which was only controlled by a touch lever ( not a traditional handle ) also the auto features were only found by trial and error eg cruise control..... heading out into the dark on wet roads in a car not familiar with needs customer care and that was severely lacking ! On return we expected to drop of on level 6 as per the leaflet but on entry to the ground floor car park we were approached by a man furiously waving a flag at us and shouting to get out of the car and to pull over !!! " I booked this car online weeks in advance. On arriving at the pickup point in Munich Airport I was made to wait about an hour and a half for counter service. The counter staff were not to blame but Hertz procedures were. Only two staff were on duty in at least 4 desks. The queue behind me would have taken many hours to process. What is the point of booking ahead if you have to stand for 90 minutes? When I arrived at the desk I asked if I could return the car 24 hours earlier than arranged. The man said yes, but explained that as I had paid for the booking already, it was not possible to refund me any amount for the reduced hire. Not possible? Nonsense. It is obviously just Hertz policy. The car was fine though I would report that it has a serious blind spot behind to the right. You need to turn your head to see. This is a failing of the Fiesta design, not of Hertz. The dropoff was extremely badly organised. I arrived at the address given -- Bahnhof Platz 2, Muenchen -- but I could see no sign of Hertz. After some difficulty -- it is a very busy part of town -- I managed to stop so I could use my phone to find out where to go. I called the Hertz number several times but was told each time by an automatic reply that the person responsible was not available and I should try later. After a few of these calls, I called the number for a new hire and was connected immediately to a human. He explained that the drop off point was not at the address I had been given but at a completely different place several hundred metres away. Why is a false address given? The actual drop off service was fine, though I would have liked a receipt stating that I had returned the car in good condition. "
