Having satisfactorily dropped off the car, I accidentally left a small holdall bag on the transfer bus to the Airport Terminal. On realising this at bag drop off, I called Hertz in the hope they'd be able to assist. Within a couple of minutes, they'd called me back having found the bag and then arranged for the bus driver to drop it back at the Terminal for me. In all it took me 10 minutes from realising my mistake to having my bag back. Thank you so much Hertz Dublin, you really pulled out the stops. "

" Hertz car rental are a complete disgrace to ensure that you take out their car insurance. and have no empathy. Your policy needs to be reveiwed. "
" Upon arriving they asked for my credit card, I tried to do via my phone which was not accepted. I then input my card and the system rejected it. I tried phoning my bank which was out of hours. The counter staff was blatantly unhelpful saying you have 10 -15 to resolve as his day was finishing. The only option was to do via my credit card and he would proceed if we took extra insurance which we had already done. I had no other option despite paying extra insurance already. I will never use Hertz again, i hire a car 3-4 times a year. "

" I continue to be pretty happy with Auto Europe. But I loathe the onsite experience of every car hire company. I have to photograph everything - mileage; car refuel receipt; petrol tank full on dashboard; every tiny scratch or dent or scuff; every document; and date and time stamp everything (particularly depot return time). And even then hope for the best. Will I get any comments back about incorrect £ values? "
" The Voucher booking stated the blocked amount would be £1,200. Hertz desk blocked £1.517. Why? There is no explanation by anybody how exactly the rental contract is cleared, email saying so and when, and when and how the blocked funds are released - all VERY important. The Hertz desk was manned by just one person - not enough. There was nobody to sign in the car return requiring a key drop off at the Hertz desk for which no prepared receipt was offered or given for Car Reg; Date; Time - VERY important. The Hertz desk should have emailed the pre-inspection pdf document to me at Sign In - I only learnt about this from the collection point Hertz employee (though this is a useful digital document). The car itself was good and Hertz staff friendly (but frantic!). The hire cost on the Hertz rental record was wrong but manually crossed out (£317.57 but should be £264.87). The pre-advised driver info process to Hertz was a good thing and speeded things up. "

" I would suggest that the business practices of Hertz and their treatment of customers who have prebooked through Auto Europe are damaging the reputations of both companies, and alienating potential return customers. "
" The handover/collection experience was abysmal. Despite pre-booking, and arriving late due to a delayed flight, no car was waiting for me on arrival at 19.20. Two other clients were also waiting, and were ahead of me in the queue when a vehicle finally arrived. I was told that a car was being driven through from Belfast to Derry, and that it would be 1 to 1.5 hours before it arrived, thus leaving me to start a 90 minute drive into Donegal at approx 2100 hrs. I was told that the lack of cars was because previous customers hadn't returned their cars on time, but there was a printed notice in the side of the Hertz kiosk, stating that handovers of hire cars could take as much as 2 to 4 hours at the moment. The only possible explanation is that either Hertz are booking cars that they don't have available at Derry airport, or that they are giving pre-booked hire cars to walk-in customers, who can be charged a much greater hire fee, despite knowing that this will cause considerable inconvenience to pre-booked customers. The car actually arrived slightly earlier than estimated, and the Hertz staff were helpful. In addition, I was given a better car than I had actually paid for, but none of this excuses the appalling business practices that would make me very reluctant to use Hertz/Auto Europe in future. The return/drop-off experience was satisfactory. "

" The car and drop-off were all absolutely fine however when we arrived we were met with one of the least friendly, most obstructive and condescending people I've ever met (William at Derry Airport). When trying to upgrade from a 4 seat to a 5 seat car (something he had offered to do for us) he refused to listen to us, tried repeatedly to upsell us and was extremely misogynistic to one member of our party. I can't stress enough how unpleasant he made the whole experience. "

" I was advised on collection that I would have to pay a £25 cross border fee to drive the vehicle in the ROI, this despite my having alerted AutoEurope and Hertz of this requirement at time of booking. No prior mention of the cross border fee was made to me ahead of collecting the vehicle. The vehicle had an unsightly damaged wing when I collected it. This is the first time I have ever been expected to accept an obviously damaged car (beyond occasional scuffs, scratches and damaged alloys). "

" having booked a Nissan Qashqai or equivalent I didn't think the Renault Scenic provided quite fitted the bill, albeit it a perfectly adequate car. Also we had an issue with tyre pressure warning before we left the airport, which on going straight back to Hertz, we were told it was a faulty sensor which had been checked and that the tyre was not punctured. Over the period of the hire we had to top up the tyre pressure twice as it clearly had a slow puncture. We reported this the Hertz on our return and I have pointed it out in my answers to a questionnaire from Hertz. "

I was very satisfied with the cost (cheaper than if I would have booked directly with Hertz), the ease of booking and the full protection offered as Hertz own scheme to cancel excess payment is very expensive. I will definitely use Auto Europe next time I need a car hire - thank you! "
" Generally satisfied. The only problem was that the car (orange mini registered in the Republic of Ireland) had an analogue speedometer which only showed the speed in kilometres. I called Hertz on the 2nd day to check I wasn't missing anything and the person I spoke to said he was very surprised and thought all their cars showed speed in miles per hour. He said that I could change to another car but this wasn't practical due to the time and effort it would have taken to drive all the way back. There are numerous speed cameras in Northern Island so my wife had to tell me the mph equivalent whenever the speed limit changed which was quite tedious to put it mildly! Also, you might be in interested to know that the only documents that staff required to see was my driving licence and credit card. They didn't ask to see my passport, car hire voucher or DVLA check code which I was told to take with me. Of course this wasn't a problem for me. "

" Auto Europe good price, if you book early . Not very flexible with changing parts of the booking . My husband wanted to fly in early to spend more time with family . I tried to change the driver's name to mine but they said I would have to cancel and rebook - the price tripled . I could change the flight for free but the car hire was £200 more . I still wanted the car for the same duration, same dates, same car but different driver. My husband had to stay at home and wait . With the changing times we live in, flexibility is the key "

" Absolutely appalled with Hertz. Never have I felt so conned by a supposedly reputable company. I believe they hired a car to us that had a small very missable, not clear to the naked eye until you ran your hand along it, dent which had been done by someone that had taken out their insurance. We didn't take out their insurance as we have our own. We checked the car and took pictures before driving off and on our return. The dent does not show in any pictures because you need to feel it to see it. I have reported this to Hertz and am awaiting their comment "

I would've enjoyed more friendly hospitality on pick up to make the somewhat difficultly in pickup go more smoothly. I felt a little bit stressed out even though I was just about to embark on my holidays. I have received an unauthorized payment since returning the vehicle with no correspondence from Hertz themselves as to what this charge is. The vehicle was returned in accordance to the terms and conditions and has now caused extra stress to the situation which could also be avoided as a holiday maker. " Trainee staff member at collection. Took almost 50 minutes to book out car. Advised to collect car from a designated bay but found on arrival that it was not our vehicle in the bay and there was no one about to help us find vehicle. After a further 15 minutes of searching a member of staff turned up and we found the vehicle in a corner sit away from the designated bay. Although I thought I had expressed to the Desk Trainee that I was hiring vehicle on Full tank and return full tank I only found out when I returned the car that I had actually purchased a full tank and any unused fuel would not be refunded back to me when I returned the car. The charge was £72.60 for the full tank of fuel and the returning member of Hertz staff advised that I had only used about a 1/8 of the tank but as I had signed a contract for purchasing the full tank there would be no refund for unused fuel. Given the Trainee status of the staff member and the Irish Brogue accent this element of the Contract was not really properly explained and I am therefore out of pocket. I have hired a lot of vehicles using Auto Europe but never come across this method of adding a full tank of petrol and charging for it. I thought I would only be charged for the fuel I had used and that Hertz required to add to the tank to refill it!! Very unsatisfactory. It was also explained that the cost per litre was less than that charged at Fuel stations outside of Hertz and this lead me to believe that I would be getting a further benefit in selecting Hertz for my car hire. This was not the case!!!! "

My flight was delayed which was traumatic enough but then on top when I ring auto Europe I was told I would miss my car, be stranded at the airport and get charged £110 out of my £180 for cancelling! I was also told it would be ok as I could pick a car up the next day at the airport at a cost of around £360, gee thanks. Even when I told Yvgeiny I wouldn't be near the airport the next as one way or another we had to get to our destination that night he still said we could pick it up at the airport the next day. It took 20 minutes to get through and then put on hold for a further 10 minutes and told me the poor options. He said I could ring Hertz but in all this time he could've rung which would've been good customer service. Hertz were fantastic start to finish whereas Auto Europe just tried to make a bad day even worse and laid all the blame on me when we were upset enough by a four hour plus flight delay which clearly wasn't our fault "

The customer service agent was not very helpful and did not even allow me to speak to a supervisor . He declined my request stating it was my error of choice. When I spoke to Hertz they said when this happens the third party normally refunds the money as a good will gesture as the terms are not very clear. " Hertz usually have great cars, but they now use an email system instead of a paper sheet to record vehicle defects. The problem with that is the email takes too long to arrive, 10 minutes plus so that you are left waiting by the car to check the recorded damage or you leave without checking. Also, the photos in the PDF don't show the slight but significant damage that well so it is impossible to check the car against the recorded damage. Apparently the photos are taken every time the car is returned, but they have a lot of cars coming and going. In saving a bit of paper, they have created quite some frustration and worry. "

" What I found useful about booking through AutoEurope as opposed to similar sites is that the options returned displayed the hire company the car would actually be booked with. WIth other sites this is not always known until you have made the booking. For me it is important to see this information over others as I may prefer to pay a little more to go with a company I have used before that I've had a positive experience with rather than one that I haven't or haven't used before. "

We had no issues with the car and it was checked over and signed off when we returned it so we had no concerns that they'd try and hit us with an additional bill after we'd returned home. What I did have a BIG issue with was having to pay for some sort of insurance at the desk on collection. The staff member on the desk essentially made out that this additional cost was compulsory and insisted that we should get it. This ended up costing us more than the car hire its self. If this cost is compulsory I feel that it should be included in the cost of the hire at time of booking or there should be some sort of notification that this is what they'd advised. I have never had this sort of additional cost before. "

" THE CAR WAS OLDER THAN USUAL FOR HERTZ HIRE CARS WITH SIGNIFICANTLY OVER 30K MILES ON THE CLOCK. THE REAR TYRES WERE AT OR BELOW THE LEGAL TREAD DEPTH AND THE CAR HAD HEAVY VIBRATION FROM THE FRONT ESPECIALLY UNDER BRAKING. THE HERTZ REP WHO RECEIVED THE CAR ON MY RETURN TO BELFAST AIRPORT CLEARLY KNEW THE CONDITION OF THE TYRES AS HE TRIED TO CONVINCE ME THAT THEY WERE JUST WITHIN THE LEGAL LIMIT WITHOUT EVEN INSPECTING THEM. THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT DEALT WITH ME WHEN I COLLECTED THE CAR WAS PARTICULARLY UNPLEASANT ESPECIALLY WHEN I ADVISED HER THAT I WAS A MEMBER OF THE HERTZ PRESIDENTS CIRCLE TO WHICH I WAS ADVISED THAT IT DID NOT COUNT FOR BENEFITS. IT WOULD SEEM THAT A-E ARE GETTING GOOD RATES BY BEING GIVEN POOR QUALITY CARS "
