" On arrival at Pisa (13th Dec at 15:00) airport car rental we went to the Internet - Goldcar desk. I presented my license, credit card (with my name) and passport. My credit card was decline. When phoning our credit card provider they acknowledged we had tried to pay and they explained new security protocol that the rental company were not compatible with. It wasn't a Visa problem but it was a rental company provider issue with Visa. The agent would not help, he pretended to be doing work on the computer. They eventually offered another quote and we used my wife's card but this time it all worked. There was a half full bottle of water left inside the car. Be aware that if you use Goldcar or Interrent, you will be charged extra if your flight is delayed. I am cross because they were unwilling to help. They would not let us reclaim funds from the payment we had initially paid. "

This is not a problem but it was done in a threatening manner of you will be accountable for everything and it will cost thousands of euro's if you don't upgrade. On returning the car again the bullying and aggressive nature continued with threats of deposits being taken and extra charges. None of which were founded or acted upon. They also tried to delay our exit from the car garage by demanding with menace my driving licence I refused and in the end walked away from the situation. For a less well travelled individual this could have been a very harrowing experience. "

I am currently waiting for a response to the formal complaint I have lodged with AutoEurope regarding this dreadful experience with Interrent. " My hire car was organised by AutoEurope for a Fiat Panda with Air Conditioning as stated on my confirmation paperwork and hire car voucher for Interrent. I was informed I was being given a Smart car when I arrived in Pisa, but in order to have the car I ordered I was charged an additional 63 Euros. Not only that, the car had no air conditioning as I had paid for originally. The car was also reported to have no marks/damage on it. When I checked it, there was damage which I marked on the paperwork and returned to the check-in desk for Interrent/Gold Car. Gianni, the representative on the Interrent desk, signed my form but did not even come and check the car. The paperwork sent by e-mail did not include the correct check-out paperwork which I was supposed to receive. I would not choose Interrent in the future to hire a car. I raised a complaint by e-mail to Interrent on 29/10/22 and they have not even had the courtesy to acknowledge or respond to this. All Interrent were interested in were selling me extra/add ons rather than fulfilling my hire car order and meeting customer satisfaction. I have now raised a formal complaint with AutoEurope. "

" The hard selling of their insurance was outrageous. They said that the cover with auto Europe was worthless. I said that is not true. CDW means I am covered and I have my own excess insurance. " whilst I was waiting to collect the keys at the interrent desk on the 15/07/2019 with my contract in my hand, specifying the correct car category of my choice I literally saw another customer drive out of the parking lot with the car specified on my contract. I immediately informed a member of staff and they expressed their shock as well. I asked how such a thing could happen and the only explanation they had was that another customer complained with their car so they substituted it with mine, obviously without checking. As I result I was then left waiting over 3 hours to get a new contract with gold car (the sister company). My wife and I were appalled by the level of service and upset that this was now eating into our holiday on the account of interrents incompetence. Further more initially when receiving my contract I was offered the choice of a diesel car which I agreed to and paid the surcharge, however, in the end, after being so badly treated, not only did I receive a small category car "D" instead of "F" but also a Petrol car instead of diesel. The "F" category is not a Van but is an estate car which I choose for more space. I have proof of everything, including both contracts. I'm so outraged with the way they have dealt with this situation and even more so by the reply below, it's a disgrace. They could have offered me a better car after the incident instead I have been treated badly and don't feel I should have to justify myself. " We had a very bad experience with this rental. We waited 1.5 hours in a large queue to pick up the vehicle. Eventually we paid 40 Euro to be upgraded to a premium member so we could pick up or car as we had an event that we had to get to. Once this was done we then went through a 20 minute process at the counter where the assistant tried to sell us additional extras. Once we eventually got given the paperwork and went to pick up the car we had to wait a further 30 minutes. We were told the car was just being washed. We were renting a Renault Clio and I counted over 5 other Renault Clios in the car park ready for pick up but were told we would have to wait. Eventually after waiting 30 minutes another staff member appeared, who seemed to be a manager, who then found or car keys in the key section and gave them to us. Clearly the car had been there all along but no apology was offered. Very unimpressive. "

" I was really pleased with the car - and the drop-off. But when getting the car, I was informed Interrent didn't accept the American Express credit card I'd used to pay for and book the car. I offered my partners credit card but was informed it had to be in my own name. I offered to cancel and rebook in my partners name and was told this wasn't possible. I tried to call Auto-Rent as I had not been informed my Credit Card (the same I'd used to book the car) wouldn't be accepted - but it was out of office hours and AutoRent was closed. I was left with no option but to pay 240 Euro on my Direct Debit Card - a charge I wasn't expecting. I also have my own European Car insurance. So, I feel I was stung, which is a shame. "

" The initial cost when booked was satisfactory, at the time of the pick, i felt totally ripped off, by the enormous costs of 'the excess protection'which was 3 times the price of the hire of the vehicle. When hiring the car I purposefully selected full cover so that I would not be faced with any further additional charge once in country. However, on arrival I was told that this cover differs to that on the desk and my options where to pay an additional 175 Euros or put 1100 Euros on a credit card. This was not mentioned on the booking page in any way, and as I had already purchased cover did not see the reason to be charged cover again. The staff at the desk gave me the option to pay up or not take the car. By this point I had already incurred large sunk costs so had no option but to proceed and request the cover again. I asked to put the 1100 on my American Express at which point I was told that these cards are not taken. I had not brought any other cards as I had not ever been told there would be additional charges at the desk. This practice is not only unfair it is akin to robbery. I cannot express how disappointed I am with these companies practices. They are all in on it together and should be avoided like the plague. In future I am only renting through know, high quality, brands to ensure I can follow a clear and easy process without the need to expect lies and deceit when trying to rent a car to enjoy a holiday. " Worst car hire experience I have had for over 40 years. No directions when arrived at airport. 45mins before minibus arrived to take us to offsite location. Counter staff aggressive about selling insurance. Had to collect car from dark underground garage where you couldn't see damage to vehicles properly. Gave us a car that was not roadworthy and we refused to take it (tyre was split where is had been in a collision at the front wheel which had completely dstroyed wheel trim). They insisted it had been looked at by their mechanic but eventually backed down. Took nearly 2 hours before we eventually left with a second vehicle - which was meant to be spotless but wasn't. Argued before they agreed to mark scratch on documentation. Return was equally unsatisfactory. Tried to charge for scratch that we had pointed out (and which they knew about and found within 5 seconds) and for minor marks that we had also pointed out. Charged 240 euros for one small mark on bumper - they were clearly intent on charging for something Will never go near Inter Rent again - or Goldcar that is the real company name "

It wasn't clear that goldcar and Interrent are managed together in Cagliari so I had to wait for a lot of Goldcar customers to be served before I got to the counter. The staff was inexperience and it took them ages to process my documents. I also had to pay some extras due to my car being a diesel car. Never happened before and not that I wanted a diesel car in the first place. On top of that, I had to use three different cards before the extra payment was accepted. The next day I had my British debit card hacked and saw few unauthorised payments going out of the account. Not blaming them as I can't prove it but that is the only place where I used that specific card so clearly feel suspicious now. The staff was also extremely pushy in trying to sell their full coverage insurance even after I tried to explain that I have my own separate coverage. Probably last time I rent a car from them "

Despite having the documents with us the girl at the desk insisted that they aren't valid. She said that auto europe don't know inter-rents cars therefore they can't be involved with the insurance. She said that inter-rent/gold car will refuse to provide any receipts for repairing damage. So we would have to pay in full. Apparently inter-rent are the only people that can value any damage. Other garages don't count. She said that if we have any trouble it would cost us lots and lots of money. The only think to do would be to buy 1 week of excess insurance with them for a couple hundred pounds . . . We held are ground and refused to pay anything else. But the girl was extremely unpleasant. Fraud. Sat nav - I made the massive mistake of forgetting my sat nav so had to hire one. She initially told me it would be 40 euro. After we had politely explained that we are fully aware she is talking bollocks and refused to re-buy our insurance the price for the sat-nav magically increased to 69 euro. . The girl said that the sat nav doesn't hold charge but works fine. This was also a lie. It was very temperamental and only worked at all about half of the time. Largely it didn't turn on. When it did it didn't know where we were in the country. They didn't give any refund. Checking the car - there were several scratches on our car that weren't noted on the form. It was also missing the mats. We asked the man in charge of that section to write it on the form so that we didn't get charged on return. He said that it would be much better not to add anything to the form. Because otherwise his colleague will check the car when we return and we are likely to get charged. . . Apparently if we don't point out the big dents and missing parts when we collect the car then it won't get checked when we drop it of. So we won't get charged for damage. Somehow we didn't believe him. The poor older gentlemen that was trying to hire a car from the station next to us was getting completely done over. For me the experience was a very stressful and unpleasant start to a holiday. But we did just about manage to stand up to the frauds. But for the chap next to us they conned him out of a fair bit of money. "

When trying to pick up the car from Venice Treviso, i was told I would need to put a £1200 euro deposit on my credit card. I told them I don't own a credit card. They then made wait for an hour, till they spoke to their manager. They then said I couldn't have my 100 pound deposit back, as it was my fault... Even though I had paid for the highest tier of Insurance.... So at this point I was in a foreign country with no car, and about to loose a £100... And been stuck at the airport.... So by holding hostage of the 100 pounds, and taking further advantage they said I could have a car for an hour extra 200 euros. This was getting close to midnight now so I paid it. I also had to pay a fuel deposit of 200 pounds on top. The car itself was smashed up, and the staff were so rude. No the best way of starting your first trip to Italy on your 40th birthday. However, staff did explain at counter but was only quickly scribbled instructions on rental paper wallet (but easily forgotten after a rental period). I strongly suggest they have a simple clear printed instruction leaflet for exactly how to return the car at Malpensa Terminal 1. The car itself was good, but the paperwork said it had zero defects - not true, there were a number of typical minor bodywork and wheels issues, which is fine but they should really be recorded on the paperwork in case of any dispute at return. I pointed them out and they were recorded at collection. Otherwise it was good experience. "

There was a slight flight delay and we would have managed to get to the car hire desk on time had it not been for the inaccurate details describing its location both on the hire voucher and a second email. Both gave unclear instructions as to its location. When we arrived at the car rental desk we were abruptly told that we could no longer have our car as we were late. When we asked if they could help us sort the problem and re- book the cars we were promptly told " no" and we should get the train. We were left late at night in Milan airport with 4 children. We contacted the auto-europe customer support centre who were completely unhelpful too. Luckily the people at the Avis desk were incredibly helpful and we couldn't recommend them highly enough. "

" On arrival at Pisa airport 30 minutes late, (thanks Ryanair) I made my way via the link bus to car park P4 as advised in the booking confirmation only to find the company no longer there and a sign telling me to go to the main rental area and go to the Goldcar desk. Waiting for the transfer bus to return, I did this. When I arrived at the desk I was told that I would have to pay €40 as I not arrived within 59 minutes of the booking time! I asked if the car had been rented to someone else to be told no It was company policy. I asked him to show me this in my Ts & Cs and he could not as Interrent was now owned by Goldcar and that was their rule. I asked what happens if I arrive early and he says you have to wait for the booked time before you can have the car!! He then told me if I did not pay it, he would cancel the agreement and Auto Europe would refund my money. I pointed out that not to have the car would leave me unable to go to my house so with many complaints, I had to pay. After completing the paperwork, he then told me I had to pay a €25 eco fuel tax as it was a diesel. I said I would have a petrol car then and he told me the tax was the same. As I had never heard of this Italian tax, I asked for further details - was it a federal tax, was it local and when was it introduced. Strangely he could not tell me. I then said ' it is a Goldcar tax' then and he did not answer. Again he could not show this to me in the Ts & Cs. Finally at the desk he stopped €1350 on my credit card when the contract says it was €900. I was then given the keys to the car which when I found it would not start so I had to go back to the hire desk and get it changed. The battery was flat!! Eventually I got a car that was drivable. "

Despite few days before I called auto Europe asking confirmation about this and the guy from the call center in Spain told me Interrent Rome accepts debit card. Once at the rental building at Olbia airport I was told I had to pay £91.20, explanation for this was very difficult to understand? The car itself was lovely to drive (Fiat 500) and served us well for our week visit. On return to airport drop off building with tank full, as required, staff checked car over, as I would expect, no damage to car. I was given a piece of paper to sign and wished a pleasant journey home. On arrival home I noted that another £163.50 had been taken from my account with no explanation what on earth this was for?!? So all in all I paid £315.38 when I was under the impression that booking upfront with the Excess Cover of £60.68 was all I would be paying - to say I am disappointed is an understatement and I will never book or recommend your company. " Our flight was delayed by just 2 and a half hours. We tried repeatedly to call autoeurope but even though the offices were open we kept getting cut off before speaking to an operator. When we arrived at the airport we were advised our car had been rented and were offered a car 4x the amount of the original booking. We eventually got through to autoeurope who said interent the car company that they recommended was the worst company for customer service.and they would probably not get our money back. They did find us another car with a company off the airport at twice the price of the original booking. By this time we just wanted to get away.so we took a car from inter rent for an extra 20e per day. When we arrived home we called customer service to see if there was anything that could be done.only to be told that interrent were not a very good company and we should have hired from another supplier.using an example of if you fly with Ryan air to will not get the same customer service as you would with British airways. Which I have to say is incorrect as I have had issues with both of these companies ,through no fault of their own,and both resolved the issue with no problem . However how are we supposed to know who give good customer service interrent as far as I am a aware is a large international supplier. And if they are that bad why do autoeurope work with them. At the end of the day the booking agent is responsible for their suppliers service. We were also told that someone would get back to us to offer some sort of resolution/compensation no one called.after over a week we called back and had to go through the whole story again .still nothing . After a 4th time of calling we were offered 15 pounds off our next 7day car hire. 'Ok but we only needed 6 days! ' 'Oh well you can't use it then' eventually it was agreed that we could use it but were offered a price over 15 pounds more than advertised price on autoeurope's website. And social media will be kept posted and the local press will be following up our story. And to the customer service lady who insinuated that Ryanair customer service was poor I suggest if you aim to reach their standards yours will be vastly improved. "

We called inter rent as we could not get hold of our booking agent ,as there was no answer from Autoeurope ,even though the offices and lines were supposed to be open. I pointed out that they had my flight number and, as the office was in the airport, they could see that my flight had been delayed. The counter staff tried a very hard sell on their additional insurance, suggesting that I should not trust Auto Europe's excess reimbursement coverage. I asked to purchase the full cleaning service, but was told that this did not exist, so I would have to return the vehicle cleaned to avoid the EUR 30 fee. I therefore had to find a car valet service on the last day of my holiday. When I returned the car (during office hours), there was no one at the Interrent office, so I had to go to the counter to ask for someone. I was told someone was on their way, but still had to wait, with a number of other Interrent customers. As a result of this delay, we nearly missed our flight. From my experience, Interrent showed itself to be inefficient, disreputable and even dishonest. Subsequently I returned to Venice airport and the SIX companies I approached were all happy to rent me a vehicle on my PAPER licence and could not believe how I had been treated. Needless to say, trying to obtain a car on a very busy Saturday was difficult and cost me a staggering 692 euros ! I did try to call the Interrent helpline numerous times, but the menu does not allow for contact with any customer services, and subsequent calls went unanswered! Furthermore, after inadvertently taking a wrong turning I was stopped by the Italian Police who asked for my documents and were quite happy with my VALID paper licence, passport and rental documents and also in discussion could not believe how I had been treated by Interrent. I have already lodged my complaint with your customer services department, and am waiting a reply regarding refunding my payment and also compensation from Interrent for all the extra unnecessary expenses incurred. Furthermore, I would advise that I have been renting cars in Europe and the US for over 35 years and have NEVER encountered such a situation as this. I am absolutely appalled at Interrent's behaviour and look forward to an early satisfactory outcome. "

Interrent dropoff is not located near the main Bergamo terminal and there are no signs directed customers to an additional dropoff station in Parking Lot 3. Finding parking lot 3 was itself challenging and I needed Waze to find it. Finally, the rental car charged me for a scraped bumper. It was impossible to know whether this occurred after I took the car. I checked the body for scratches and dents but not the bumper. It look like an old scrape. I did have excess insurance and will file a claim. I have used AutoEurope many times but Interrent is not among the best or most reliable companies you have recommended. "

Major credit cards were not accepted in the payment machines and it took a full 40 mins to actually purchase fuel. Many customers must end up returning their car without a full tank of fuel, and will no doubt be charged accordingly. This is both unreasonable and unacceptable! "

We showed them two different covers we already have ny other companies and they questioned it , rubbished it and refused to hear our side . " Getting shuttle to the car was a bit chaotic - we called the number but instructions for where to wait were not clear. When a minibus did arrive, everyone rushed to get on and there was no system of first come first served, people just bundled on. As a party of 8 with 4 children, we had to wait for the 3rd minibus to get on. When arriving at the car location, there was a ticket system in place to be seen. We waited over 1 and 1/2 hours to be seen at the counter and to get our car. The first shuttle back to the airport is at 8am so beware if you have an early flight. "

" Dealing with this employee of interrent at Bologna airport was not pleasurable. He was quite obviously out to deceive customers and make money from selling extra cover that was not required. He then became very rude when he realised that I was not going to fall for his lies as I knew exactly what I was covered for. "

" Auto Europe did not make it sufficiently clear at time of booking that they were sub-contracting the lease to the third party 'Interrent'. This was not a significant technical issue and would not have precluded my booking through autoeurope. However, both my party, and at least one other customer present whilst we were picking up the vehicle unfortunately did not realise that this was the case, and many people queued at the auto Europe kiosk for around 2 hours unnecessarily, to be then told that we should have gone directly to the interrent kiosk, and then spent another hour queuing at that kiosk. This is evidently because of insufficiently clear paperwork supplied at time of booking. I can not believe that we are the only two groups to have made this frustrating mistake. The autoeurope title at the top of the booking confirmation is evidently misleading. The indication that the rental is subcontracted to interrent, and that the vehicle should be collected from interrent kiosk must be made much more clear and larger font on the paperwork supplied to customers. "
" 1) Office was extremely busy at pick up, resulting in a long delay. The office was clearly understaffed at time of arrival for pick-up, with only one of the three counters operating at any one time. 2) Token number machine was broken, and replaced by distracted/lacklustre apparently senior member of staff writing numbers on scraps of paper, on request and only when prompted, not proactively helping. This was extremely unhelpful and confusing, with all subsequent customers arriving after us also clearly confused and unsure how to proceed until advised by other customers, rather than staff. After circa 45 minute wait, said staff member forgot what number she had reached, causing more delay and frustration for all people waiting in queue. I actually received a lower number than the person ahead of me. This seemed very unprofessional, amateur and a terrible first impression. I would point out that this was not the general counter staff, who were clearly trying hard at a busy and understaffed period, but a different, seemingly more senior (managerial?) member of staff manning a separate podium away from the counter. 3) Despite taking out AutoEurope excess protection in advance, we were encouraged to take out unnecessary full excess protection through Interrent in addition. 4) Counter staff were actually efficient, but paperwork process was unnecessarily long, resulting in long delay at pick-up, despite having licence, booking papers, credit card and passport immediately available. This process could easily be speeded up to reduce queue and delay to the 'rapid' pick-up process advertised by Interrent. 5) The two 'garage' staff we dealt with at pick-up and drop-off were very pleasant, personable and amenable at both pick-up and drop-off stage during vehicle inspections. These people were the only shining light at Interrent and I suggest the office staff should have a similar approach. I suspect that the office staff were too busy and pressured, to be personable. "

They were quite insistent about this and it felt very much like they are simply trying to con people out of more money when under pressure and unsure. In fact as I was there I witnesses someone else with the exact same thing, they had already paid more for full insurance, but another staff member gave the exact same spiel. I did not take out their additional insurance, but feel it's a pressure sale which is not good. In addition they asked that I sign for the condition of the vehicle before seeing it and actually the condition of the car was not great, but I noted these down, took pictures and got them to sign my copy. I wasn't too worried about condition of the car as long as it was noted that we received it in that way. Returning the vehicle was fine and I would use again, but feel that staff are clearly trying to pressure sell insurance that is not needed. Unless of course they are correct and the insurance sold by yourselves is not actually valid? "

I arrived at the counter at Bologna Airport more than an hour after my specified pick up time (30 - 40 minutes of which was spent waiting for a shuttlebus at the airport) and they told me that they had given the car away, as the reservation was only valid for an hour after the specified pick-up time. I had to pay an additional sum for a new car. The man behind the counter complained that I had spent 50 minutes complaining and said that "it isn't all about the customer". "

" Getting the car has been very difficult. I rented a car at the Bologna airport (Italy). The interrent car park was not in the area with other agencies, but was far away from the airport, served by a shuttle. This in principle was not a problem, except that finding the shuttle was almost a nightmare. I had to call a telephone number with an automatic system and go through a number of different options, then I was quickly given voice instructions on how to find the place where the shuttle would pick me up, promised that I would receive the same instructions via text message, and reassured that the shuttle was booked for me (but I was not given an estimate of the waiting time). I did not receive any text message, but I tried to follow the instructions as I remembered them. I was not really sure if I ended up waiting the shuttle in the right place (which was not exactly around the corner!) and there was no sign suggesting where the interrent shuttle would stop. After 15 minutes I called interrent again, this time I decided to try to talk to the Bologna agency instead of trying to rebook the shuttle again with the automatic system. While going through the automatic phone system I was asked to enter the first letter of the city where I was on the numeric keypad of my smartphone.. the problem was that the keypad was in numeric mode because I was making a phone call!). That was really confusing, but I somehow understood that to enter the letter "B" (for "Bologna") I had to press twice the number 2 .... Finally I spoke with a human being, and discoverd that while I was waiting in the right place, no shuttle had been actually booked and sent to pick me up! So he sent a shuttle.. .and after 20 minutes I was in his office for the check in. The agency operator was kind, but clearly interrent has adopted a policy of trying to force the customer to buy their insurance. All excessess and penalties are exceedingly large, e.g., €1500 for damage excess and €3000 for theft exceess. And even small damages will attract exceedingly high fee! I was also told that if I did not buy insurance, the deposit that they would take from my credit card would be returned after up to 30 days, which I find it absolutely unfair once I return a car with no damage! In conclusion, similarly to what happens with Goldcar, I felt that the customer who does not buy the full insurance is treated almost as an ennemy. Finally, getting out of the carpark was tricky, the bar would not lift without almost touching it with the car but nobody told me that in advance. When I returned the car (with no damages, thanks God!) I was at first invited to park it in a really narrow slot (the only one available to interrent), then graciously allowed to leave it in a common area - the operator would move it for me. No big deal, but not the most customer-friendly service. Although my experience was not so terrible as with the Goldcar company, in the future I will try to avoid also interrent. "

The air conditioning sporadically stopped working which , due to the highest temperatures of the year, was unpleasant in the extreme. The car (Clio) was more suitable for the class below as when loaded with four people without luggage, it struggled to accelerate if there was any sort of incline. The car collection and pickup point was not particularly clean and attracted a swarm of flies and bugs around the cabin area. All in all I didn't enjoy my experience of hiring with you. "

After waiting in the queue for 20 minutes I was told it was Interrent, not Autoeuropa as printed, which I had not heard of; they pointed vaguely into the carpark and said 'P4'. I walked around, could not find Interrent or P4, went back to the terminal and they said take the shuttle to the airport terminal. When I got there no one knew where P4 was. By accident I came across the Internet shuttle stop, which is not well marked. I waited for a while. Eventually the shuttle took me back to P4, which turned out to be near the regular auto rental terminal. All this in 33C heat, two cases, and darkness approaching. All in all, it took approximately 90 minutes to get to the Internet office. The Internet staff there are great, but your online information is misleading or absent. I think you probably lose a lot of repeat customers in this manner. "

The car was dirty as well and we then drove up the road 10-15 miles, used the washers once and the low washer warning light came on in Italian so had to work out what the warning said to find out what needed doing. The tyres were around 10-15psi low and very spongy. Hate complaining but it really put a dampener on our holiday and added stress. The cost of it came to the same price as more well known companies who I have used before and never had these issues. Sadly I won't use you guys again I am afraid "

" I booked the car using autoeurope.co.uk and paid for a full insurance. Paid 160 pounds and arrived in Cagliari the Interrent staff told me I could do a full insurance for 250 euros more. They try to push me to sign for this solution but I didn't accept and still don't understand why on the website when I booked it was saying "full extra cover" and the staff in Cagliari told me that's not a real full insurance cover and they would charge me every single scratch on the car. The car was new on paper but had multiple scratches, it wasn't clean, no wiper fluid. Never again, I'll avoid Interrent for my next trips. "

" The car was clean and fit for purpose, the experience of dealing with the staff was very stressful and not a great start to my holiday, they insist on selling their insurance as the cover we purchased in the U.K. is not sufficient and insurance if forced onto Customers with the pretence of not having adiquate insurance, and the cover we purchased not valid. This sales pressure was being pushed onto all customers. "

" Awful car hire company. Arrived and was told I had been 'upgraded' to a bigger car. The car had not been cleaned inside and outside - it was filthy. The petrol also was not full and was missing a bar of petrol. The inventory was not completed corrected and marks on the car were missed (from what I could see through the dirt). I didn't use the boot as I had hand luggage but on he second day of the hire I opened the boot and there was leftover food, including rotting pie that had been left there from the previous users (further evidence it hadn't been cleaned.( "

" The only negatives were: When making the booking the Interrent office was publicised as being open until midnight. With a late flight this was a benefit in case the flight was delayed. By the time we travelled the closing time had been changed to 10pm. Our flight was delayed by 2.5 hours and we didn't land until 11pm, so we had to spend a night in Pisa. When we knew of a delay we did contact Interrent who said they could stay open up to 10:59pm and would track the flight before leaving to see if it was going to land in time, which was good of them, but it didn't work out. The other thing is the inevitable hard sell of additional insurance, at €35 a day. Over 8 days that's more than I pay for my annual UK car insurance. Apart from that the service was good and efficient, and the car was well presented and did what was required. "

" I spoke to one of the AutoEurope staff about a price change in the car rental, they were very helpful and suggested that it would be better to cancel & re-book, saving me over 50 euro's. "
" The process to get to InterRent off site office was confusing and it was impossible to speak to someone when we tried to phone. I was charged for an upgrade which was not mentioned to me but was included in the contract (so it's partially my fault for not checking) but the car did not seem to be an upgrade (Dacia Duster - 10 euro's a day) and the state of the car was very muddy/dirty/dusty and had many chips which we had to point out. I'm very wary of whether I will be charged for the cleaning of the car or for any of the scratches, even though i have it marked on my contract. "

" The car was fine but there were several aspects of the process which we were unhappy about: 1. The length of wait for the shuttle 2. The condition of the minibus which collected us did not inspire confidence 3. We were not greeted properly by the person who picked us up or by the office staff 4. We were left guessing whether the car was returned in acceptable condition. We received a blank email with the original unmarked, unsigned check out form attached and assumed this might mean the hire was successfully concluded. Will never use InterRent again. "

" We suffered a double puncture and the car was rescued. Unfortunately whilst we collected from the airport at Florence we were staying in Cortona. The replacement car had to be collected from Florence so we had to catch a train back, which wasted a day of our holiday. we incurred costs of train fare and taxi. Further more we had to pay a penalty of 50 Euros for the failure to fill a quarter of the tanks fuel worth about 20 Euros/ I shall be submitting receipts to claim from the insurance that I took out with you when placing my booking. I did take out the extra insurance with InterRent of 32 Euros per day to cover any accidental costs. Whilst expensive it did save me the inconvenience of paying out larger sums and claiming back from Auto Europe insurance. "

" No issues with Auto Europe, however few of the rental companies we used in recent months all claimed that insurance bought via comparison sites like AE, is substandard to one available at the counter. Luckily so far we have not had to verify this. "
" Staff at interrent only seemed interested in selling upgrades, and when refused, became rude. They refused to see the car with us to check for existing damage, claiming perfect condition. When we pointed out existing scratches and asked for them to be added to the report, the staff became obnoxious and only marked two out of five existing marks. On return, we hoovered and washed the car, yet we were still charged 5.99 for cleaning services despite staff stated no further charges were due on return. All this petty behaviour on interrent part will prevent us from using their service again. "

Although anly half the fuel was used up, there was no refund for the petrol left over in the tank, unlike when you are supposed to return a full tank and you are charged for the top up if you don't do it yourself. " I have used Auto Europe many times - do check the small print though every time and check the small details before completing the booking. Beware of Full to empty rentals if you are doing only a small distance and using less than a tank of fuel - you will still be charged for the complete tank and 21% VAT will be applied on top. Snow chain options are not cheap. Evaluate the level of insurance carefully - excesses are steep if you have a problem and use the standard insurance option. "
