" The one drawback is that is not possible to park anywhere on the street unless you have the Pango App which is not possible unless you have an Israeli mobile sim. " I had a bad experience this time with Hertz, I upgraded in the airport to a slightly bigger car, as the car only just arrived back the petrol was only filled 3/4 so they told me that when i bring it back i only need to fill it the same. I filled it up till almost full evenmore than i took it and they charged me for a full tank. The name of the Man was Avi who advised me that he will make a note on the system that the car was only 3/4 full when i took it might have forgot to put it on as the queue was busy. I actually have witnesses who heard him say that i only need to bring it back 3/4 full. At return they were initially understanding about my somewhat late arrival; I explained I was just going to go around the corner and fill up the petrol and apologise. They said it's fine and to go and fill up. When I got back, they explained I was late and I would be charged. They then said they would waive this fee. Then they said I had driven over a toll road and I would be charged - I explained to them I had no used those toll roads and I could prove it because my Google Timeline was switched on. I had to fight them to remove the fees. Then they said they were going to charge me an Admin fee. I asked them why this was not communicated by Auto Europe? They said it's in the fine print. They then had me sign a release form when they accepted the vehicle back - but it was in Hebrew. I have now had two separate charges from them, £19.36 on 24 December and £23.21 on 5 Feb. The vehicle hire was Thu 28 Nov > Wed 4 Dec. I'm currently disputing with my bank and seeking to reclaim. Terrible! "

" On 30th January when I arrived at your car rental counter to pick up the car, the counter officer offered me for a service upgrade that would save me time waiting for the shuttle bus to Thrifty and we could return the car directly to the airport. When I returned the car to the airport on 10th February, your staff issued me with an invoice with an additional charge of USD132. I enquired what the cost for and your staff explained the upgrade was USD12 PER DAY - that was shocking me. I was really upset by the dishonesty of the staff who offered me the upgrade. He did not show me on the screen what I signed for and did not give me any documents at all. USD132 to save me time for the airport shuttle bus to/from the rental car company is ridiculous. "

I spoke to cal auto on the phone and they agreed we could drop the car off at the airport after all, however they couldn't give me a fixed location. They said terminal 1 at 7 pm. Terminal 1 is a large terminal and I envisaged dropping the car off and having noone to meet me therefore missing my flight. I ended up dropping the car off a 30 minute drive from where I was staying. I then took a taxi back to my accomodation at significant expense. Again the employee was rude. I then had to take another 45 minute taxi to the airport at my own expense. Really I would like a refund for my experience, it was the worst service I have even encountered. "

The Avis counter had around twenty people waiting. Staff were friendly and efficient both at check in and return of car. The car had no Bluetooth and no USB point. 68,000km Honda. The images sent by the company re the condition of the car at the outset were very low resolution so scratches did not show. My previous experience of hiring in Israel has been poor, with old, damaged vehicles for a high price. I hoped using an international brand would negate this but not this time. " No major problems. Rather hard to find the car rental area which isn't signed (or not well) at TLV and I was misdirected by the information desk. The actual pick up area appeared unstaffed at first, then someone I found was completely disinterested. The instructions to start the car referred to entering a 'star/asterisk' then a code, but the key pad had no start symbol, only various Hebrew words and numbers. It was very hard to persuade one of the staff to come and show me how to start the car and as we were almost three hours late (plane one hour, passport control 90 minutes) this wasn't good. Vehicle was fine, return was efficient. Actual counter staff were fine but I gave a 6 to reflect the rude person at the pick up area as that isn't asked separately "

" Dear Customer service 1. On arrival to Israel to collect the rental car we were informed we needed to go on the shuttle to the rental drop of point as no cars were available from the airport 2. We were directed to gate 32 to wait for the shuttle at this time we were the only customers slowly others joined us waiting for 40 minutes 3. When the shuttle bus arrived there were too many people and there was much debate who should get on shuttle we removed our selves other customers were not so willing so the bus did not leave for another 15 minutes 4. My husband then went back to the desk to complain and enquire what was happening and informed another bus was on its way after 20 minutes another one arrived the driver was very unhelpful and again too many people for the bus others got in who had arrived after us when my husband complained the driver started shouting I intervened asking what was happening this is not acceptable she started screaming at me accusing me of coming to close to her I was standing at the back were the cases were she started screaming more saying she would make sure we didn't get a car she was completely out of control very aggressive in her tone and body language 5. She left driving very crazy one of the passengers later informed us they were very scared and she actually crashed into a parked car on entering the drop off point 6. Eventually another shuttle came after 30 minutes and we were taken to pick up a car on arrival all those who had got shuttles before us were waiting no cars were ready for pick up 7. Whilst waiting the girl who had previously been aggressive to me started again so bad I asked to speak to a manager who did not help I spoke to the receptionist and ask for help as I was getting very up set by the way she spoke to me and her aggressive behaviour requesting they call the police if she continued. 8. Three hours after our pick up time, 3pm, stipulated on contract we left 6pm. 9. I was extremely up set and disturbed by the way I was treated and the fact we had to wait 3 hours for the car. "

There were only 2 people manning the desk, taking at least TWENTY minutes to process each customer, although all customers presumably had prepaid vouchers. etc. NO apologies or explanations given. Eventually received car keys, left airport; a minute later WARNING light saying tires were under inflated,; checked them, ALL rock hard and remained so for full rental period. CalAuto opened damage report when car returned; ie blaming me for their not checking/preparing car before hire. "

" The car was fairly beaten up and full of dents but was ok. Upon return there was absolute chaos at the check-in. There were a very large number of cars returning simultaneously and not enough staff. It took 30 minutes to get attended to. I was then informed I had a bill for a toll road I had never driven on. Then with the dozens of customers that were there, Cal Auto provided a small van as a shuttle back to the terminal. There were 8 spaces in the shuttle with each round trip taking 25 minutes. This resulted in pushing and shoving as we were all at risk of missing our flights. A rental car company should know that a given day will be busy and add more shuttles. I did't see the phenomenon with any other rental companies there, and there is no excuse for the appalling level of service we received. "

Sometimes work digitizing just 02 numbers of the 04 and others took us 10 minutes to get the sound and be able to turn on the ignition. Very hard to understand that security system in that case as the car was in such bad condition. "

For instance, the pick up/drop off location forces you to make a specific choice of address (which implies a choice of car rental provider) rather than a generic choice, eg downtown. This wastes time as for instance in Israel different companies close at different times on Friday. Also I am not clear how to make the choice of currency as I found myself being billed in US$ which means my credit card company will charge me for converting to GB£. "
