" Charged hundreds of euros for "scratches" which the check-in agent said he had found which we did not agree we could see. Agent refused to sign in the car and take us to the airport until we paid this fee. "

" Generally good, but should ensure that partner organisations deliver better quality service and vehicles. "
" It took extremely long until we finally had the car. Staff was involved with other customers in between. Staff wanted to sell us insurance and petrol. Staff wanted to have the drop-off time changed. Car was bigger than what we had booked (not necessarily an advantage in Italy) and showed many scratches and dents on all sides including an all dented bonnet due to hail. We had to have extra preexisting damage added to the rental documents. Due to the extra time at Joyrent we arrived late at our accommodation and had to pay an extra fee. "

" Very good website and easy to use "
" Staff were really busy at pick up and drop off, so there was a long wait. They were very good once at the front of the queue. Car was relatively new and only had wheel scuffs. "

" AutoEurope filled me with confidence because of the great comparison of prices they offered on the website. For someone young like me who needs budget vehicles this was brilliant. However, putting one of the most important parts of the terms and conditions on the back of the booking details and mixing it in with all the other non-important information makes me feel totally and utterly scammed. How can you allow somebody to book a hire vehicle with a DEBIT card and then not highlight VERY CLEARLY that they need a CREDIT card to actually pick the vehicle up. Needless to say I would like this review to go to the highest authority possible as I am fuming and would like at least some compensation. "
" Awful. They charged me extra £700 on pick up because I brought a debit card that I used for booking and not a credit card. On drop off we were nearly 2 hours early for our flight but the Joyrent receptionist was late opening and took so long with the two individuals in front of us that we missed our flight and had to pay £450 for new ones the following day. " The problem is auto europe want you to upgrade the insurance then the sub company, in this case Joy Rent do the same giving a load of reasons why any insurance upgrade with auto europe should be duplicated with them. But it is a good way to find a reasonably priced car hire co. "
" I hate hiring car because you always get the sales pitch to update the insurance, but I suppose necessary in Rome. At least Joy rent uprated the car I was going to hire so swings and roundabouts so generally satisfied. "

" Auto Europe have been ok we did rent a vehicle after all and it was what it was expected, I don't blame them for joints failings however maybe they should be providing more assistance to drivers who are caught up in the middle, in countries where they may not speak the language of the rental company. Also I paid for the extra cover and this seemed to be of no help should the rental company wanted to have charged me the excess for the accident, I don't understand this because I really don't know what I paid for, luckily for me I was not charged anything in the end. "
" Well it wasn't clear that the company wasn't in the airport when we booked, and then, the most important thing about where to meet the transfer was not abundantly clear on any of the paperwork or emails it was eventually found in the terms and conditions which is a very strange place to find it. When we collected the vehicle it was very quick but almost too quick we were just given the keys money taken and told where the car was. Unfortunately on the first day of driving we were hit from behind by another driver. I immediately called joy rent to find out what I needed to do and was met with a very unhelpful person on the end of the line. This could have possibly been to do with the language barrier but I would hope that and company renting on the English market would make sure they had staff who are able to speak it to an adequate level. We were just told basically sort it out when we got back and we would have to pay pay for the damage even though no it was not our fault in any way. Luckily for us the driver that hit us spoke very good English and between us we managed to fill out some very important paperwork which is a legal requirement in Italy if he had not done this we would have come unstuck. We worried about the money all the way through the holiday as we were told it could cost £1,500, we call during the next day and also spoke with auto Europe, they basically said that we would have to pay the excess which would be £1,500 and then try and claim it back from the other drivers insurance company. This badly affected on holiday as we was in having a budget to allow enough money to pay this excess. At the end of the rental we again spoke with a member of staff who really didn't tell us what was going on on didn't ask if we're ok or that if our holiday had been affected. He was very abrupt and then basically said we have to pay nothing and sent us on our way to our great surprise. It turns out the company wasn't that bad but the customer service was very lacking, with just a bit more effort they could make the experience much better. there was no documentation provided by either company that explain what to do in the event of an accident in Italy or anywhere else for that matter, when a sheet of paper with some basic instructions in English would have helped greatly at the time. " I do not always go for the cheapest company. I look at location of office, time waiting etc which all seemed reasonable for this company but my experience was anything but. "
" We had to queue for nearly two hours to pick up the car. While there were 4 people in the office only one was dealing with the public. Dropping off was bad too. Nearly an hour. At one point I was tempted t just leave the keys and walk out. Given the delays we (in affect) had the car for less time then we had paid for but of course got no refund. "
