It's not doing their reputation any good "

" Picking up the car was not too much of an issue but we had to walk along the main road very close to the traffic to gain access to the office. After the paperwork was completed, we had to point out every paint chip or small dent and photograph them to ensure we didn't get the blame. There were many of them. Car was in reasonable condition but you get what you pay for. My complaint is that the guy from the office telephoned me to find out my time of arrival, we agreed to 18.00hrs. At 18.10 I phoned him to find out his ETA, but another person answered who said he would be another 10 mins. 15mins later I called again and was told to just leave car with keys in and it will be ok. I wasn't happy about this and said 'what guarantee do I have that your not going to take the 806 euro charge on my credit card for falsified damage. He then said the office guy will arrive shortly. In the meantime some guy from another car rental company, say's the owner has called him to tell me to leave the car.in his yard, I said no, he's coming shortly. 15 mins later I phoned again to be told there has been an accident and he may not arrive!!!! I said I've got all night to sort this as my flight has been delayed 4 hours and I'm not leaving the car. He's say the guy will arrive soon. As Auto Europe small print says I have to have a receipt for any damage & a photo, I was concerned I'm going to get caught out for damage with recompense from Auto Europe but after phoning, they assured me that I would be ok, phew. 15 mins the guys arrives, no apology for being late but he did offer to take us to airport and that he agrees that no damage has been found. "

Green Motion brought out a replacement car the next day and upon complaining when returning the replacement vehicle the petrol cost was refunded. However you need to be aware that an unsafe (health hazard) car was rented out to us in the first place!! "

" The office were unable to secure the excess deposit on either of my credit cards despite my bank (First Direct) informing me at the time they could see the problem was with the office/machine at Green Motion. My 'Option' was to pay for the office full insurance instead at a cost of an extra €150. This was probably a sincere attempt to help, however If I refused and cancelled my booking to go elsewhere I would have been liable for the full cost of my reservation. The car supplied was rather battered with a fair amount of sill damage and dented front wing. I was informed that the fuel policy was same/same and showed at five bars on the gauge. On return I noticed the document showed full/full which meant an additional €30 fuel to avoid a possible dispute at the drop off. All in all an expensive experience for a second class car. The fact collection was early after a long overnight journey, meant that I did not want to have a lengthy dispute and just needed a car quickly. I will avoid Green Motion in future "

Eventually another rental company at the airport suggested that I try Europcar (off-site), so I walked there and, sure enough, Europcar was acting as agent for Volta. Firstly the office was not attended when we arrived to pick up the car so we had to ring for the attendant to arrive whilst we stood outside. Secondly they charged the deposit payment to my card instead of just blocking/authorising it. The refund was paid in full but as a result of them charging it to the card, I have been charged the non-sterling transaction fee twice plus the fluctuation in exchange rates, amounting to an additional expense of over £45. In future I will only use a company which simply blocks the deposit fee rather than charging it to the card. "

On the booking page it said I would receive a "Nissan Note or similar", but they actually provided me with a massive, totally inappropriate 7-seater (for 2 people) that was far too large, as the property we were staying at was down a very narrow lane with the entrance at an acute angle; manageable only with a small vehicle. I asked immediately for a downgrade to a smaller vehicle, but the staff-member said they could not do that. (He never explained why.)Thus for two days we were burdened by a totally inappropriate vehicle, and I was not a happy customer as it was spoiling our holiday. However, I then emailed Europcar's manager at Kalamata explaining again the situation, and received a very apologetic reply, assuring me that yes, they would change the vehicle to something more appropriate to my booking request. This they did promptly and without any further fuss, and provided me with a lovely, virtually new Opel Corsa which was a delight to drive (the previous sliding side-door 7 seater had an appalling gear-box). This redeemed Europcar in my estimation; so that instead of rating them at around 3, I'm happy to raise it to an 8! "

When I was finally ask to signed their paperwork they said they did not accept the full indemnity paid when I booked and handed over car with the tyre pressure warning light illuminated which I was told to ignore when I pointed it out to them. Although there policy is for a full tank of petrol, the tank was not full. When I returned, slightly early to drop off the car I found their office was closed. Despite contacting the contact number on their office door it took half an hour for someone to arrive during which time we were stuck out in the intense sun. When we got the car and drove away we noticed a warning light an had to take it back. After we eventually got on our way I pressed the windscreen washer control and discovered the washer fluid was empty. Not what I call a good service. The office were helpful as we had to change our flight and have the car a day early at the last minute due to Thos Cook problems. The car supplied was quite old and in only moderate condition, some of the dials for temperature control etc were jammed and the radio display was illegible. However, the car did not cause any major problems. Overall they were helpful and no queues to pick up or drop off. "

" The office was a difficult walk away from the airport - dragging cases along the gravelled side of the main road wasn't explained. Pickup was fairly slow despite being the only people collecting a vehicle. The car itself was disappointing - it had done over 90,000km and had some knocks. The central locking only worked using the passenger door keyhole and one headlight didn't work - it was supplied with the "bulb out" warning light on. The seats were stained and the steering wheel worn. Dropping the car off was fairly easy although the staff hadn't kept or couldn't find their copy of the vehicle condition report completed at time of pick up. Worst rental car I have ever had. "

" I always use Autoeurope. They have good customer service if you have a problem. And now they also sell good value excess insurance. The information you receive with your booking has also been improved and it clearly sets out what fees are included and what are extras that you have to pay locally. Well done. It must have reduced the volume of customer queries and complaints. It also helps prevent the car hire company from ripping you off e.g. adding spurious airport tax or forcing you to have their over-priced excess insurance. "
" We caused a little damage to the car and although we had excess insurance we were concerned about whether the cost of repair would be over-inflated. However the Alamo staff were efficient and helpful and the damage was assessed at 220 euros which was fair and reasonable. I was also charged correctly for my extras. Nothing else added to my credit card and no attempt to charge me in GBP at a usurious exchange rate. Very happy. "

When I brought the car back they found an old scratch/ dent that had been painted over and told me I had done the scratch and painted it myself to try to hide it. Of course, I had not done that. I then reminded them I had paid €200 for full insurance and they were full of apologies. But I do wonder how many people without full insurance have been charged for that hidden painted over dent... " I have a mixed review. Once we got the car we were very pleased with value for money. The car was reliable and just what we were looking for and for the price bracket we wanted. However, when I booked the car I did so with my partners credit card with the plan that I would drive when we were there. I booked everything in my name but just paid with his card. The booking went through fine with no issue. When we arrived at kalamata we were informed that I couldn't be the named driver because we paid on my partners credit card (who was standing next to me). This seems absolutely rediculous to us and makes no sense. Your employee could not give us any reasonable explanation as to why this was and was adamant that he had to be the driver. As we had not been informed of this whilst booking he did not have his driving licence with him. At this point our 2 and 5 year old were getting quite impatient. After a lengthy debate we were told that we either had to pay a sizable sum in deposit or purchase the full insurance package. With no other choice this is what we did. Not a good start to the holiday. I plan to make a complaint. "

At over 78,000 miles it was fairly scratched indented had a problem with the power steering probably due to the battery unable to use the car phoned on Saturday several times didn't get a answer managed to get through on Sunday very difficult to arrange somebody to come out even though we were all told when booking the cars there was a 24-hour helpline . " I booked a Suzuki Jimny soft top as I have done with you for many years. In the past, I have always got what I ordered ie a Suzuki soft top (Jimny or Vitara). This time I got a Dihatsu Terios hard top. Not what I wanted. I was told that I had ordered a 4WD SUV which is technically correct and thats what I got. But being a hard top made it significantly different from the car stated on my hire voucher from you. I could have had a hard top at half the price that I paid. "
