" Keddy didn't exist but we went through EUROPCAR. at Verona airport. They insisted on charging me more even though I had already paid for extra cover. I showed them paperwork from autoeurope. They also charged me for other extras I did not request. I am still waiting to why I have other charges since dropping car off. There was no one at the depot when I dropped car off. I deposited keys in box. There was no damage to car and I refilled fuel at fuel station close to carhire depot. There should be no further charges at all. Altogether extremely stressful. I would not recommend EUROPCAR to anyone and they are not doing your company any favours. I have submitted a claim form. I communicated with autoeurope whilst away and they were very helpful and responded to my emails very promptly. "

" Auto Europe didn't ensure that the partner site I used to book (CarRentals.co.uk ) has the correct information, said it was an in-terminal pick up - it was not, never has been, the Florence car hire area is a 20 minute bus wait, then 5 minute drive so circa 25 minutes away. Taking disembarking, passport control etc. into account, there was no way I was ever going to make this booking from a 22:30 landing! so it should not have been allowed to be booked! I had major stress trying to find somewhere to stay - ringing multiple hotels around midnight trying to get in somewhere due to the car hire office being closed. Having a number that somebody answers would help Having clear opening hours would help Not taking bookings that have ZERO chance of being fulfilled on that day would help "
" Booking was taken for a flight arriving at 22:30 - I specifically booked with Keddy as it said "IN TERMINAL PICKUP" - I paid more for this versus one that said shuttle - however, it proved NOT to be the case at all and I had to take the shuttle bus - adding time and inconvenience. I was taking two flights, I checked documentation around 17:00 and realised that one said car hire closed at 22:00 and the other said 23:00 - I was due to arrive at 22:30 - So apparently it was either closed when I landed if 22:00 or did so 30 minutes from landing if 23:)) - so pick up is not feasible at Florence yet you guys accepted that booking. I rang the Florence contact number multiple times to confirm details and nobody answered at 17:00-18:00 hours - I then rang multiple times when in Amsterdam 20:00-20:30 hours no answer. My second flight was late, and I then found the 'in terminal pickup" was a shuttle bus away so I arrived late to find office closed, I was stranded at the car hire pickup point, no shuttle bus, no taxi, no hotel - as my booked hotel was 45 minutes away south. I spent 30 minutes at midnight ringing around hotels, at one point it looked like I'd be sleeping in the pick up location car park! - I finally got one and had to walk 15 minutes with luggage and pay 80 Euros extra, despite having a hotel paid for that I could not get to. I can't say as I'm overwhelmed with positive feelings towards Auto Europe/Keddy/Europcar as it would seem my cash was more important than my experience or welfare! I'm 80 Euros down on hotel costs, plus hassle through no fault on my part! "

A friend travelling with me had to make a new booking at a cost of almost £300. So I'm not likely to recommend you am I? I have used your company a few times; I reported this to you the day after it happened (May 15th) and as of today (May 20th) nobody has been in touch. I have since discovered that the 'blocked profile' was an error by Europcar, I have sent them emails with confirmation proving this. " I booked a Fiat 500 hybrid (or similar) as I like the style and have hired them before and enjoyed driving them, but got a Fiat Punto hybrid that had every panel damaged, some quite extensively. It looked like it had been in several accidents and never repaired. It also appeared not to have been cleaned since the previous renter and the windscreen wash bottle was empty which I discovered while driving into the sun with a dirty windscreen ! Having walked from the railway station in Florence to the office in a street some 10 minutes away with all our luggage we were then told the car had to be collected from the station we had just left! A further 10 minute walk with all our luggage then ensued!! The staff at Europe Car VIA BORGO OGNISSANTI office were very apologetic about this, but we should have been told about this with our booking. By the time we got in the car to face the Florentine traffic (!) our stress levels were already unnecessarily high! The car drove acceptably well and did the job, but the overall experience was very poor. "

" the staff were fine. although the wait was long. the main problem was the we ordered - Jeep Renegade, wasn't the car we got, which was a Opel Overland (never heard of it, either had I) and it was tiny (had a renegade last year in Italy), certainly not of equal size and it was old (80k + miles on the clock) and marked and damaged all over, of which the tyre pressure light never went of from day one, even though I topped the tyres up, it woudn't reset. Nobody to show us where the car was picking it up or there when we dropped it off. I expect a lot better from the Europcar brand. "

It hadn't been cleaned. There was an old pack of cigars left in one of the compartments, one of them half smoked! On return, there was nobody to check the vehicle in at the drop off point. I was told by someone from another company to go back to the Europcar desk in the car rental centre where there was only one staff member available again. He was busy dealing with a queue of people who were collecting cars so I ended up having to leave the keys on the desk or I would have missed my flight. I would not use Europcar at Pisa again. "

" Collection of my car was a nightmare, 8 possibly desks only 3 open. Waited between 2 and 3 hrs to collect car, it was a complete shambles. On Collection of the car I noticed the air pressure warning for the tyres but after checking they all seemed OK. It was only the next day we noticed the tyre was going down. I tried ringing the number that was provided on the key but it didn't exist. After making various phone calls over the week and was promised someone would ring me back but didn't. I finally got through to the breakdown and they said the would come and collect the car and I would have to return to my hire place by taxi. 170 miles away. I explained the car was fine just the tyre needed replacing which they couldn't authorise. I then emailed europcar hoping for a better response. They sent me a phone number to call for help, this number also didn't work. You really couldn't make this up. So my holiday wasn't completely ruined I decided to replace the tyre at a cost to myself of 190 euros even though I purchased fully comp cover. I do understand the july August are busy times but three out of eight desks open is just a joke. Surely you know in advance how many people are picking up cars in advance and make adequate arrangements for staffing levels.. I would love a response from someone but I won't hold my breath. "

There was no Keddy desk at Venice airport, my voucher was with auto europe, again no desk for them either, I then had to join one of the many queues to find out which desk I should use, which turned out to be the "Europe " desk, fortunately a fellow traveller told me I had to register my arrival on a computer tablet. I then queued for just over 1 hour before I was serviced, at this point I thought finally progress, only to be frustrated again, I had booked and paid for a Fiat 500l , because I am over 6 foot tall, and need a car with a high roofline, only to be offered an Opel Corsa which was not really suitable, on pushing the point, I was told there was a 500l available, but not for another 45 minutes, after we had been waiting already for over an hour, and having to meet relatives, we had no option but to take the Corsa. I have hired cars in Italy for many years, but this rates as our worst experience "

" Hi Keddy\Europcar I'm writing to complain about my hire car experience with yourselves at Pisa airport. We initially waited an hour to queue to get to the desk, where I was told that there was no car available. We had to wait another hour at the desk for some news of another car. The car that turned up wasn't the small suv we prebooked, but instead an estate which was inconvenient as I wanted a car a bit higher up for my brother who had recently had a back operation. Furthermore when we went over to the car it was absolutely filthy, inside and out. No one showed us the car or anything so we were really unsure what was going on. I was told at the car lot if I wanted the car cleaned it could take 4 or 5 hours which I'm not going to wait for as I expected a car to be ready there to pick up straight away. Going back to when we were at the desk the member of staff tried to sell us insurance. While they were telling me about it - at the same time as being on the phone speaking Italian to someone else - I tried to explain that I thought I already had it with the booking via Auto Europe. They said I didn't have it which was very confusing and went along with what I thought was a whole trip rate of approx 35+vat. I didn't realise until a few days later that it this was actually a day rate and this was x 6. This wasn't explained to me, and I would not have agreed to as we had already paid for prebooked insurance!! Also with the car being absolutely filthy and battered I questioned even the need of having the insurance at all. Another thing to add, on the keys of the car it said the fuel was diesel when the car was in fact a petrol which could've been another disaster! All in all, with long delays, an unacceptable car, unneeded extra insurance and terrible service, I have had an awful experience with Europcar. I didn't go for a cheap hire place in order to have a better customer experience which it failed miserably. Look forward to hearing back what you will do about this to rectify the situation. " In addition to our check in expereince.... after we left the airport and driving along the motorway we noticed the petrol indicator was not at full it was a little under. we though it not worth bothering with and returning to queuue again. teh hire was full-to-full. On our return we called into a petrol station about ten miles from the airport and filled it up (the petrol assistant did it) - when we drove off we noticed the indicator was not showing full. 200 yards outside the aiport we went to another petrol station and filled it ourselves - until the handle clicked - i.e - full. when we drove off the indicator still showed it as not being full - obviously a fault indicator. it was 7am so the check in desk was clsoed. We have since received an email stating we have been charged 39 euros for returning with an unfull tank. So no - i will not be using this firm again. What makes this worse - if the indicator is fault - this must be happening week after week - so people are being ripped off. "

The hire car park is located off site and the courtesy bus service is wholly inadequate for the number of people seeking to get to and from the hire car park. I ended up walking from the airport terminal to the hire location and this required crossing a number of busy and dangerous roads. Only one member of staff was on duty at Europcar and she was inundated with dealing with a very awkward family - this took over half an hour to resolve, On returning the car on Saturday 8 June, the office for Europcar in the car park was closed but three members of staff were dealing with cars and instructed me to put the key in the drop box outside the closed office. I was then shocked to find, when I received the invoice, that I was being charged for an extra day's hire to Sunday 9th June. I queried this immediately by contacting customer service with your form and been informed by email today that the charge will be refunded. This leaves me feeling concerned about the processes and the instructions being given by your staff. "

I feel it would have been about €20 cheaper for me to fill the car and return full. Not massive but just another example of hire companies hustling that extra but of money. The car requested was a VW Troc or similar and I received an Opel Mokka and it was also automatic ( not as requested but turned out ok). I queried being given an Opel but the desk staff said they're all the same. Not really are they? There were no child booster seats available at pick up. Was not advised to pre-book ( I don't think). The office is a good 10 min walk from the station (on a very hot day), only for us to have to walk all the way back to pick up the car from the underground car park. An office actually at the train station would have made it so much more pleasent. Furthermore, the Europcar office staff first claimed Keddy was nothing to do with them, but after I refused to go away, they provided me with a brand new car - so new we had to fit the hubcaps and floor-mats ourselves. The staff were friendly, but clearly not being 100% truthful. They were obviously out of cars, so gave me one they had not been planning on letting out that day. "

However after walking the full length of the centre twice, we found no sign of a Keddy desk. So we began asking at the other desks. We eventually found the Europcar rental desk were handling the Keddy rental - despite no signage. A 50k mileage Kia was ready for us despite booking a Fiat 500X. We were asked to return the car to a Europcar outlet so they could swop the car for another, despite no explanation as to why. I refused the likely 80 mile round trip, it was their car, if you want to swop it, you can come to me. We were invoiced for petrol on return, despite fully refueling the car. "

" Auto Europe seem to do their job properly but the whole system of vouchers and hire companies trying to change your agreements at the airport- extra insurances etc doesn't make the whole process easy for someone trying to just enjoy their holiday. There was damage on the car, not noted on the pick up document. I wasn't taken around the car by a representative to check this together. I then go and ask if someone will look at it before I take the car away. They say to take it to the drop off zone. The man there at first says the damage is nothing- it was a wheel arch scrape back to bare metal in three places- I asked him to make a note of it. He does so on his document but doesn't give me a copy. When we returned the representative sees the damage straight away and says I had an accident. I explain that I already pointed this damage out on pick up and he says where is my proof. Whilst a valid question, it took me showing a video I took on pick up to prove that the damage was pre existing. My suggestion for improving the system is that a car can't be released without a person walking around the vehicle with the representative. If keys are handed out without a check then the hire company can't insist on a check at the end- it's got to be the same system both ends. Many friends I speak to feel the hire companies are just trying to take your excess off you and never get the minor damage fixed just make multiple fraudulent excess claims at the expense of the customer. This perception can only be fixed by professional transparency. Anyway I'm not here to change the system - I probably will avoid hiring a car next time and look for other options. "

" When I started my google hunt for a hire car, I had one condition which eliminated all other options. Snow tires!!! I booked with auto Europe, it said I had snow tires. When arriving at the pick up, was informed we just get a box of chains. The French law states cars need snow tires. I was staying in a lower valley and driving up to resort every morning. I wanted to keep my child safe with snow tires. I have snow tires on my car and van at home and we only have ice a few weeks per year. Driving in snow up a mountain road in normal tires is stupid and we did have trouble. "

" When I went to pick up the car it already had a slow puncture, which was showing on the display. There was no one around to raise this with and I wasn't walking all the way back to the counter which was pretty busy when I left. So I just reset it and the warning light came on a week later. Must have been a very slow puncture. But I would have thought that this would have been picked up before I was given this car. It was also pretty dirty on the outside and had a few scrapes, but I suspect from previous experience that this is the norm for hire cars in Italy. It was a nice car otherwise and I found that Italian driving habits seem to have calmed down a wee bit. "

" I had a flat tyre so was running on the emergency tyre. We called the helpline and the agent looked for the nearest Auto Europe outlet which was Locarno in Switzerland. She told us that if we could get there by closing time, they would help us. We could not get through to Locarno on the telephone to forewarn them that we we coming, so I asked the Auto europe agent to call them ,but she could not get through either. When we got to Locarno, the agent told us they could not replace an Italian car without Head Office authorisation and that Head Office was closed. We went back to our accommodation at slow speed. In order to get a replacement car I had to get up at 6am the next morning and drive again slowly to Malpensa where the car was replaced efficiently. The agent who replaced the car and the one who received the car at Malpensa at the end of the hire were both very helpful and understanding. "

A week before I left I received a new voucher stating deposit would now be 800.00 which I hadn't budgeted for. I was offer by Keddy a chance to reduce the deposit to 100.00 if there was an initial 50.00 paid for extra cover however at desk it was an extra 250.00 so I felt this deliberately misled me to gain more money from me. It was false information which led to a great deal of anxiety. If someone never had the extra funds available outwith the original agreement they would be left stranded without a vehicle and out of pocket. I requested 2 car chairs which weren't with the vehicle on pick up which I could understand could be an oversite however when I brought this to the desks attention it took almost 40 minutes to locate these chairs 1 new and another dragged from the back. 40 minute wait at desk while my 2 children were also forced to wait in 35 degree heat. I was 3km away from Garda with two mobility impaired passengers with me. Eventually I removed the engine oil dipstick which revealed NO trace of oil in the engine. I purchased some engine oil and got a receipt for 15euros which was refunded to me at drop off. The windscreen washer bottle was totally empty and had been from the point of pick up. Please note that even with 15euros of oil in the engine only a low trace was evident on the dipstick. Staff at the car hire company said it was due an engine oil change. Had it not been for my action you could have been changing the engine. The experience was totally unsatisfactory and I look forward to your response "

" On arrival we were offered a car (VW Polo as booked) with the middle section of the rear seats sealed off with Duct Tape and a note saying unsafe to use due to a faulty seat belt. I would never be expected to accept a car with faulty parts especially seatbelts where our children would sit even if we could have squeezed our family into it. This car should not have been available! The car we were offered as an alternative was much smaller (Lancia Ypsilon) which we struggled to fit in with our luggage, came with 3 pages of damage / scratch reports (vs the almost umblemished VW Polo) and although it served a purpose was nothing like the car we had been offered. Although the service staff were generally efficient, they seemed annoyed we challenged the initial car we had been offered and that we found more damages to report before taking the substitute car. Quite busy at pick up time, no queue at drop off. "

" At the car rental building at Pisa Airport there was no Keddy desk. We approached the Auto Europe desk (this was the name on our car hire voucher) but we were told to go to the Europcar desk. When we approached the Europcar desk we were told we were at the right desk and we noticed that a little Keddy sign had just been placed on the counter. It would be better for the confirmed reservation documentation to clearly state which car rental company desk to go to. We were informed that they didn't have a estate car available. We had booked a Fiat Tipo estate or similar. They offered us an Audi A3 cabriolet and when we said that would be too small for 2 adults and 2 tall teenagers and all our luggage they said we could upgrade to an Alfa Romeo but that would cost us an additional 8 euros a day and we were unwilling to pay more. We said we would take the Audi. Europcar then tried to get us to take out additional insurance even though we had an Auto Europe Car Hire Damage Excess Reimbursement Cover Summary. We feel that companies who are working together should not try and get customers to pay twice for the same excess cover. When we got to the Audi we found it had much more damage on it then what was listed on the Europcar documentation. We recorded 9 additional areas of damage and then had to have the documentation manually altered by an attendant at the pick up point. The boot of the Audi was too small and would not hold our luggage. The leg room in the back of the car was also too small for 2 tall teenagers. We were fortunate that we were part of a larger family group and that the other hire car had room to take 1 of our 2 suitcases and 2 cabin bags. We would have been forced to pay extra and take the Alfa if we had not been in a larger group. We took lots of time and care to book a car that was suitable for the needs of our family and feel that we were let down by being given a smaller car which lacked boot space and leg room. We found that due to all of the above points the whole car hire pick up procedure was stressful and time consuming at the start of our holiday. "

For the cost (roughly 40% less than europcar like for like when we booked) but with the same staff and vehicles, I would happily recommend as a good budget offering. "

Then when we complained, they gave us one automatic convertible, and one automatic non-convertible. They offered us a free upgrade, but we had paid for 2 automatic convertible and therefore any upgrade was not helpful to us 3. They asked us to come and pick up the other automatic convertible the next day. We lived 30 minutes away from the airport, so it was a waste of money, fuel and time. 4. The manager in the department for Keddy (a lady) was the most unhelpful person we came across in such a difficult time. She wouldnt listen to our problems and just wanted us to accept whatever they were offering. 5. The booking was done saying it was a full to full fuel policy. However when we went to pick up our cars on 25th after almost 2-3 hours of wait and harassment, they gave us half filled fuel cars. The same thing happened when we came back to pick up our 2nd automatic convertible. They did not give us fully filled fuel. 6. They categorically asked us to return half filled fuel, because they were giving us half filled. When i came back the car was still not ready ad ha to spend another 2 hours waiting for it. I spent almost more time at the EuropCar desk that anywhere else in Sicily during this trip. The people at reception refused to pay back the money for at least that night since i was having to take a car that i did not really want. I t was very unhelpful and I has really spoiled my experience and trip. On top of all this i get an invoice this morning for 7 litres of fuel even after returning a full tank from the diesel station near the airport. I really had never had this experience with any other car rental company ever in my life..... "

" The car I was given, even though it had done only 10k and was fairly new, the body was very much damaged, full of scratches and small dents with one massive scratch/dent running accross the whole left side of the vehicle. The car was not presentable. When i insisted to be given another car I was told that there are no other options apart from paying more and going a class up. Also the poor chap that works in Trieste airport office should not be in a customer service job, he is unpolite, cannot communicate well and seemed quite lost. " There is no Keddy at Naples airport. The paperwork I had was from Auto Europe. I queued for 15 mins at a desk for Auto Europa, with same colours, same font same logo, only to be told they are completely different company, Never heard of Keddy but it's probably Hertz. Queued at Hertz desk for 10 mins to be told never heard of keddy but it's probably Europcar, queued for 10 mins to finally be able to paperwork. Arriving at 10pm this is the last thing you want to go through. Car was great and good value, but additional insurance was pushed and was very expensive "

" Nobody at Verona airport were aware that Keddy existed. There were no signs and when I asked representatives at Avis they had no idea where Keddy were situated either. Foolishly I started queuing at Auto Europa thinking they were affiliated with Auto Europe. After 40 minutes of waiting I was told that they were not able to help me. I called the number on my booking form to discover that Europcar were dealing with Keddy. Annoyingly these people were right next door to Auto Europa with no queue whatsoever. All in all, over an hour after walking into the Car hire office, I was finally in my car. Clearly if I knew I had to go to the Euopcar desk, my arrival at Verona Airport would've been much smoother. Europcar though, were very helpful! "

" I was unable to collect my car but to my photo driving licence being expired by 4 weeks. I would have accepted this decision however I called the DVLA who faced a certified copy of my paper license detailing my license expiry date of 2049.... They originally accepted this after waiting around for over 2 hours and then your colleague decided to change her mind at last minute at decline us our rental car. We had no other option other than to pay 170 euro to our hotel and then the same amount back. We were also unable to visit any other towns as per our plans due to not having our car. We felt this had a huge impact on our holiday "
