I resisted and explained I had my own hire car insurance, but they were insistent to take their insurance. Plus, never had this before, but I was told I needed to bring the car back clean inside and out or be fined. "

" This is a company with a shady business model and I am surprised Auto Europe chooses to work with them. Upon arrival I was given the hard sell to take out a supplemental insurance at a cost of €100 - this would ensure that the drop off would be smooth. I advised I have an insurance with you. Again he strongly advised to take their extra policy - which was 2.5 x the cost for my 40 hour rental! The vehicle was a heap with over 20 dinks and a 1m crack across the windscreen. I videod the pick up and advised of damages which the operator didn't seem to note. I was worried about the windscreen and wrote in the note that I wanted no liability in the event that this shattered. I also asked about the nature of damage - and was told the standard line - must be in excess of 10mm and be deeper than the paintwork. Upon return spurious damages were claimed which I am contesting but they have withheld £3000 deposit. Their scale of charges are swingeing and it is clear no remedial work ever takes place. If I wanted to pay €140 for 2 days hire I would have gone to Sixt or Hertz and it is sharp practice to coerce clients into taking their cover which is merely a means to augment their margin for what was a heap of a car. Check out Tripadvisor for more examples of their sharp practice and don't believe their high scores as my experience has been awful. I have hired scores of cars via Auto Europe and this is the first bad experience I had had. "

" Very friendly and efficient. Apparently I benefited from out of date t&cs. Next time I will have to pay extra for being old (I pointed out that I am a more careful driver now than 50 years ago). Next time also there will be no unlimited mileage - pay extra for over 100km per day. "

" I was pleasantly surprised with an excellent level of service. Very efficient pick up and drop off. You are met at a reception and allocated an agent without delay. No pressure to buy additional products. Location is within minutes to the airport. The office operates 24h which is great for late arrivals. Great value for money. Fast reply to email questions. Few recommendations to improve: there is one one head office phone number to call for all issues including requesting shuttle bus. During the day the number is busy and waiting time is very long. It would be much easier to call the reception directly. The damage report at pick up doesn't include photos but only descriptions of the damage. Having photos would be easier during pick up time. "
