" Have used Auto Europe over a number of years as I feel they offer the best choice and value for money by comparing a number of car hire company prices. "

" Very happy with the service received but slightly disappointed with actual vehicle supplied. Booked expecting a VW Polo or Vauxhall Corsa sized car but actually got a Kia Picanto. Offered a VW Golf for an extra 10 euros per day but declined. Vehicle not fuelled fully upon receipt so was advised to take photo and return as same. Difficult to achieve when five eighths full so ended up returning in excess. Apart from these issues car was in good condition and clean so no complaints on presentation. Collection and return process seamless. "

Nothing was ground in. Nothing was dirty. It just needed a hoover, which the car hire place would have done anyway. Clearly they see this as an easy way to chisel some more cash out of mugs like me. I rent cars all the time and have never been charged a cleaning fee. "

" The car I had was a small reasonably new budget car. It was comfortable and more than adequate for my needs. I was renting in rural Ireland and the roads there are not always perfectly maintained. The wheels were fitted with plastic hub caps, Perfectly adequate for the car however there is a risk of losing one on these rural roads. I would suggest perhaps possibly fitting them with cable ties 2no per wheel would eliminate the risk of losing a hub cap. "

Luckily one of the other car hire companies knew and signposted me to the office outside of the terminal building. " Overall very good. Just to correct location for hire vehicle desk and pick up is outside the entrance gates and not in the terminal as stated. It is only a short walk of 100m but it is a diversion if you go to the terminal desk that is still marked up with a sign redirecting you. The vehicle had minor but unsightly accident damage hence the 8 score. Otherwise Carhire/Europcar provided a very good service. My deposit has yet to be returned but hopefully that will be done very soon. "

" Carhire in Knock seems to be part of Europcar and the car was collected from the Europcar agency at Knock Airport The car had not been properly cleaned (empty bag of crisps on floor) or prepared. In particular the gear knob came away from the gear stick ( very dangerous) and the tire pressure warning light came on even after ensuring pressures were correct. My biggest complaint however was I got ripped off because Europcar/Carhire considered I brought the car back with new damage. We inspected the car before driving away but did not notice the damage which comprised about three very superficial scratches a few inches long to offside front wing. I took pictures of the car before we drove it and they did not show the damage which was very difficult to discern visually- unlike several other dents and damage to the car which were recorded and which we confirmed with our photos. The Europcar/Carhire rep immediately went to the so called new damage and did not inspect any other part of the car suggesting to me they knew the car had these superficial scratches before I drove it. I was not involved with any accident and had no recollection of any event that could have caused them. They deducted euro630 from by credit card which is ridiculous given the superficial nature of the damage - eg no dents. The scratches would be removal with T Cut in my view. I had separate cdw insurance ( so am not out of pocket assuming my insurance pay up) and I suspect the fact I did not take out Europcar cdw was a factor. I will never hire from Europcar/Carhire again and would not recommend them to anyone else. Rip off artists! I have used autoeurope for many years and have always had good experience altho I have not as far as I can recall ever had an Europcar car. "

" When I picked up the vehicle I was advised that it was in good condition with no damage. On inspection it had scratches to both wings and damage to the bumper which fortunately I photographed. As I had arranged to meet a family member I left and continued my journey to Connemara where I parked the vehicle in a safe position. The car was not used until our return journey to Knock as we walked to the wedding venue which was 5 mins from our accommodation. Whilst trying to avoid traffic in Galway city my sat nav took me through a route of very narrow roads and the journey took much longer than anticipated. We arrived at the airport with minutes to spare before our flight and was unable to have car inspected in our presence. I parked the car safely and dropped the keys at the Thrifty/ Hertz desk and had to pay €140 for late check in of our 2 luggage items. On arrival back to the U.K. I received an email from Hertz with a pdf image of the inspection of the car accompanied by photos of the pre existing damage and attributing it to me. Coincidentally the cost of the damage was €2000.00, the amount which had been held on my credit card. I emailed Hertz attaching the photos of the pre existing condition of the car and was requested to resend with the date and time of the photo. All that was required was for the recipient of the photo was to click on it and the date and time is visible. I resent it and a day later received a condescending email advising me that 'after careful consideration Hertz were no longer pursuing the claim and advising me that in future I should check the car before leaving the airport' which thankfully I had done and had the photographic evidence of the dame to the car before I drove. In my view Hertz are dishonest and would have already claimed for the scratches which were superficial and they would never have fixed and were chancing their arm because I had to run to catch my flight and was not present for the inspection. Hertz charged my credit card £2200 and I was not refunded for 6 days. Of course this made some interest for them. I have hired cars on multiple occasions at Knock airport from Europcar and Budget and was never treated like this. I will never hire from Thrifty/ Hertz in the future even if their price is much lower than competitors. "

" The car was just right for our touring, as small enough for single track roads. "

I did feel that an upfront payment of €185 to waive any damage was rather high, I decided against this & was told that €1500 would be debited to my credit card, in case of damage or an accident, this I feel is wrong as I was then unable to use this card as would have exceeded my limit, now I have to wait for this to be credited again. This part of the hiring I was not happy with. "

" As stated above, I was not at all happy with the state of the car as it also had damage all the way down the nearside & 2 dents. As I have used you 4 times a year for some years, I would have expected a better quality car. I know from personal experience that you charge for missing hub caps so would have expected these to have been replaced before putting out to rental. I am annoyed that the damage mentioned above was not noted on the Damage Report Form as had I not checked the car prior to leaving the airport would probably have been charged for the damage. This is not the level of service that I associate with Budget. I will probably use you again in December and would hope for a car in much better condition in view of my loyalty to you. "

" When I collected the car it had 3 hub caps missing, of which only 1 was noted on the Damage Report Form,. It also had damage to the offside rear & to the bumper which also was not noted. I had to call over a member of your staff to note these down. I also took photos to prove that the damage was there prior to my collection of the vehicle. "
