The vehicle was returned on time full of petrol as requested, so we followed all the requirements. However, I then received an email demanding payment for the damage done to the car - the photos provided showed the damage that I had told them about before taking the car. I had a number of email exchanges before the matter was dropped. No apology. You need to make sure that your processes for recording damage are improved. " To say i'm dissatisfied is putting it mildly. The flight was 30mins late which Europcar informed me there would be a 50euro charge for picking the car up late. I asked to see in writing the charge and was shown a document stating late charge of 30 euros and 24hr service charge of 80 euros, I then asked the question where the 50euros came from and was told that was the price/charge. On leaving the desk I then found out that not all the passengers were charged the late overpriced fee. The fact that I was charged is discrimination. "

" We had paid for a fiat 500 which is what we got, the condition of the car was dreadful, we were told when collecting the car there were some scratches on the side of the vehicle when we went out to the car the light was bad so you couldn't really see them, the car inside was dirty and the dash was all scratched. In the light of day the scratches on the outside were not scratches but a massive dent that ran the whole way down the passenger side which looked like the car has been ran off the road! " Auto Europe were excellent in all aspects of the booking, except when it came to to the issue of arranging for a 7pm pick up - my arrival time had been documented wrongly, so this information produced a last minute panic. Telephone calls were answered promptly and emails responded to speedily. I would particularly like to thank mr adrian pitt for his help. Unfortunately, the car was damaged whilst parked, so I am in the process of claiming for the costs incurred and very much hope Auto Refund will be as efficient "
" From my experience at la Rochelle airport: Having ordered a car, I was later informed by Auto Europe that the office would close at 7pm on Saturday and not open again until Monday. With a flight landing at 18.40, I then had to contact both Auto Europe and the desk in France, to be assured of the situation - I was asked to pay 30euros to ensure a member of staff was there. On arrival at Europcar, there were other people collecting cars who had not gone through this experience. The handover wait was slow andconsisted of being given a key and directions to the car, as well as being asked to sign papers which were not explained thoroughly.The "compact car" that I had requested for driving in rural France, was a high spec Lexus Hybrid Sports edition - I had never had experience of such a car, was unaware of how the ignition worked or where to find the handbrake pedal - twice I had to request assistance. The manual was in French and a self charging hybrid car, was fraught with complication if one did not understand the mechanics that operate it! I would have expected someone to take a few minutes to check the driver's knowledge and explain these procedures, before allowing the car to leave the car park. I am a very experienced driver with a good record but there was a lot to learn with this car. All of this meant it took an hour to leave the car hire depot, with a two hour drive ahead of us "

" The reason for the score of 6 was due to Europcar charging a penalty of 30 euros as we arrived late. When I booked the car our flight was due to arrive at 18.25 allowing for customs clearance and bags we would have made the desk before 19.00. Our flight was delayed and I was at the pick up desk at 19.30 in a queue and not seen until 19.50 I along with 6 other customers were charged the 30 euros fee. When I enquired the desk clerk said he always stayed until the Flybe flight arrived. There was no indication when booking that there would be a late fee even though we were minutes late. The Europcar desk clerk said on Saturday they finished at 18.00 which conflicts with the Auto europe voucher "
