" Email sent to you Thur 10th Apr: I would like to discuss these claims of damage and my treatment and very poor customer experience at both the collection and return of the hire car from Turin. So can you please arrange for someone to give me a call before any charges are just taken from me. At collection, a very friendly member of staff showed me round the car and quickly explained there were many multiple minor damages... nearly on every panel. Consequently I didn't inspect each and every single mark and scratch. He almost encouraged me not to by saying it will all be fine given the car had so many damages. We drove the car safely to and from Montgenevre and returned to Turin airport with no incidents. On return we were met with a very different character who inspected the car like I've never seen. After at least 10 mins he found a hairline scratch on a panel near the rear door. It would be removed very quickly with some polish and a cloth but he claimed not to have any polish. When we compared the check out document with the damage there was a mark #4 where the hairline scratch was. He said that reference was for a very minor dent which could also be barely seen particularly from within a dark car park. So I wouldn't have known if the checkout document referenced the scratch or a dent as both were so insignificant. He said it would be a 150 euro fine for the repair - interesting as none of the other many damages had been repaired. I said this wasn't fair and he said he was just doing his job. I asked for the options he said pay 150 euros at the office, or wait to speak to the head office. Then he said he'd phone a superior to check the best price... he reduced it to 130 euros. I still felt this wasn't justified given the 3 minute job to fix the minor scratch. I then went to the local office and spoke to the same man and a female at the desk. They said they could remove an 80 euro admin charge, which went even been mentioned before then. Then they said the 130 offer was gone and now it had to be 150. I wasn't comfortable that any of this experience was correct or even legal so I confirmed I would wait to speak to head office before handing irregular payments to local staff who seemed to be making things up as they went along. And now I see an email suggesting I pay 250 euros for the 'damages' and an 80 euro admin fee? I hope someone can explain quite what was going on at Turin today and we can resolve this sensibly. I will also contact the agent I used and have used many times previously. "

" My main issue with the hire is I beleive the car detailes provided as typical for class - a Land Rover Discovery, was completely mis-leading, especially as they didn't appear to have any of these types of vehicles avaialble. We went with the hire as it is a reasonable size car, 4 wheel drive and has all terrain tyres from the manufacturer (apart from the "Sport" version I beleive). This meant when we arrived we had to upgrade to a car with winter tyres and a larger car, although the car provided was a similar size to the Discovery we throught we were hiring. I understand the risk and caveat of the "or something similar" get out of jail card but it seems to me using the example car as typical of class was totally misleading - not happy and considerably poorer. " Besides the excellent service from the counter staff who had stayed after hours when we arrived late for collecting the car, the remainder of the experience with NoLeggiare was NOT good. We collected the car at 2230hrs so it was dark. There was no documentation or photos shown to us on the condition of the hired vehicle so we took our own photos in the darkness of the parking lot for our own record. The next morning in daylight we noticed many scratches, nicks and dents on the hired vehicle. When we returned the vehicle, the inspecting agent was rude, did not listen to us despite our photos and records indicating otherwise and he was adamant that he would find something for which to charge us EUR100 and an admin fee of EUR80 for. This we disputed at the time and have since lodged a dispute with NoLeggiare directly as they have prompltyl raised an invoice against our credit card for the EUR180, which we feel, quite frankly, aghast at. "

Counter staff told us that Noleggiare did not recognise the full insurance purchased with the voucher and the tiniest scratch would cost us thousands of euros and there was no excess. They asked for 400 euros extra for a 10 day hire of a small vehicle which we did not pay. On our return they took a great deal of time examining every inch of the car, asked to see our video of the condition at pick-up then pointed out a scuff right underneath the car and a tiny scratch on the windscreen right at the bottom of the screen out of driver's view, both of which were not visible on the videos and for which we were not responsible. They said they would not be able to rent the vehicle out in that condition, so we would be charged for a new windscreen and repairs to the paintwork even though they had tried to give us a car with a deep tear in the side wall of the tyre. The car hire ruined our holiday and has shaken our confidence in Autoeurope which we have been using for decades. "

" My wife and I actually had a bad experience with your partner in Sicily. They were extremely rude to a couple ahead of us on arrival making a comment that the man was 'crying like an animal'. When we returned the car, I explained we had sustained a puncture and I used the emergency kit to inflate the tyre to be able to drive to 'a gommista' . We found a service centre several miles away in another town and had the tyre repaired - using up most of the day from our holiday. Naturally, we paid for the repair. The representative when I explained all this at car return simply said the tyre was new when we took the car( (not accurate of course). He also insisted we pay €50 for using the emergency kit. He refused to reimburse us for the repair cost. I said if we had not used the emergency kit we would have ruined the wheel driving it to the service centre. Again all he said was we must pay€ 50 and he had my credit card details. As you can imagine I was furious and he calmly walked away to deal with the next customer! " 3 issues First - the car per the voucher was a Land Rover Discovery. The car provided was a Mercedes GLA. These are not in the same size class. Second - as usual I was pressurised over an exorbitant excess and additional charge to reduce this which was more than the rental. This despite the fact that I had taken the extra cover. " Very positive experience with Noleggiare. Firstly the collection process was straightforward and well handled by the lady in the Fiumicino office, (no hard sell of additional damage cover as some have reported)we received an upgraded brand new Toyota C-HR which was brilliant as we were going to do a few long journeys and it turned out very very economical on petrol (5l/100km) even as an automatic. Returning the car was equally problem free, though the guy went over it with a fine tooth comb looking for the smallest scratch. Somehow the small plastic cover plate on the rear bumper that covers the towbar mount got lost or was stolen... in the morning it was gone, so may have dropped off though i don't see how that could happen. So I am waiting for the bill for that, so if they don`t overcharge me for a part that costs $10 this review stands as it is, but if I`m ripped off then check my review in Trustpilot! Can`t emphasize how important it is to take a very detailed video (and pictures) of the car on collection and drop off! to avoid any problems. Two things that they could easily do to improve collection is to give better directions to their office at Fiumicino as it`s a big airport and not easy to find, and secondly they failed to tell us the procedure you need to follow to pass the exit barrier from the airport car park! (Press the button and explain you have a hire car!!) One last piece of advice.... getting through passport control can take over an hour at Fiumicino so make sure you schedule your collection time allowing plenty extra for that and delays, or you may miss your 1 hour overtime allowance. Oh and one other important thing is that Noleggiare do not give you a printed report of your car condition at collection or return, but supposedly email it to you. This is potentially trap as you can`t query any recorded or missing damage details at the time, so your video and photo evidence is critical if you don`t want to run into problems. In my case the car was brand new with no scratches and returned in that state so they would find it hard to invent them, but do also video the guy at the end telling you all is OK !! "

I called AutoEurope customer service line and spoke to a Vanessa. This person was agrressively unhelpful and refused to accpet that even though I had crossed the car hire hall and spoken to a competitor (Avis) who had confirmed they only required a security of 200Euros and that is would be returned to me within 3 business days of the vehicle return if all was well, this person continued to say a 3000Euro retention for deposit was 'standard' and refused any concept of a refund. Her manner was unpleasant and aggressive. I will never touch This company or Auto Europe ever again and I am infirming everybody I know of the same. "

I arrived at the hire pick up point and was told that they don't own a Land Rover Discovery and never have. I am particularly annoyed as I had another booking with you 5693981 for £250 less which I cancelled in favour of the Land Rover. I hire cars multiple time a year and appreciate that sometime alternatives need to be issued however without fail this has always been a car of similar or better quality and size at the existing cost rather than inferior cars of poorer quality. We are a family of five with slot of luggage and driving slot this holiday however this has been severely impacted by the situation. Nolkegiare yold me they could go anything else unless I paid more and sss as if that the broker was at fault. I need some help please as I have dnded up with a terrible car for a premium price point and was left without option given I was outside the airport in the heat with 3 young children. Please can you advise as to what can be done. " Honestly, I had a bit of a nightmare. I was trying to collect the car a few days after arriving in Sicily and I forget to take my passport. They had no flexibility in accepting a photograph of my passport and would only accept the physical passport, which I couldn't provided without making a 4 hour round trip. Having phoned the Noleggiare customer service number to discuss the issue, they said there was nothing they could do and I would lose the full amount that I had paid for the rental (circa £700). After some further discussion they offered to only take €150 of the rental cost, which I reluctantly agreed to, although whilst writing my account shows that I have not received any refund and the full amount remains with them. I appreciate that I made a mistake by forgetting my passport, but that have acted terribly and I feel totally taken advantage of. This experience has left such a sour taste in my mouth and there is no way I would ever recommend this company!! "

Water also ran out after 3 or 4 days. The car was clearly not ready to be sent out. They also tried to charge us for a scratch on the car. They guy kept coming back to it over and over again for a long time. Not a pleasant experience at all and I would not recommend anyone do business with them. "

I understand that what occurred was likely outlined in the terms and conditions, but it was not made obvious or clear at the time of booking. "

" What an awful, stressful experience! On arrival to Naples airport, it was not clear where to go to catch the shuttle to the office even when calling the contact number given. After asking passers by and a driver of a minibus for rival car hire companies, we finally managed to spot and board our shuttle and after 35 minutes of confusion and guess work because of lack of information. On arrival to the hovel of an office, we were greeted by an attempt to charge us a further 112 euros as apparently we were late in COLLECTING our car and told the class of car we booked was no longer available and the extra charge was because the car was of the next category up even though factors were out of control and we didn't ask for an upgrade. Luckily, a family member is of Italian decent and once recognised by the Nollegiare staff, their attitude change and just like that, the extra charge was dropped. When directed to the car, no one checked the condition with me. It was evident that the car had several scratches and dents but as I say, they weren't pointed at the time of pick. Ironically, the car was scrutinised on its return but luckily we were without incident and I had taken photos and a video of the condition of the vehicle from the outset. Noleggiare's representative on the return had very little in terms of charisma and professionalism in dealing with customers. They weren't wearing a name badge and when I asked for a name as a point of reference, they were hesitant and asked me for what reason! When collecting the car I had to ask for a warning triangle which is mandatory in Italy. I had also booked and paid for a booster seat for my daughter. This wasn't available but luckily I had packed my own from home. The set up for the car pack behind the office is horrendous and is asking for car damage as it is packed. All in all, an awful experience and will never use the company again. "

" I had booked car hire through Auto Europe easily and at a good price. When arriving at Bristol airport we discovered that our flight had been delayed. Updates from easyjet were very slow in coming. I rang your office to explain that the flight would be late, but had no reply (I have a screenshot if required). We finally took the flight, then got delayed waiting at passport control. I eventually made my way to the Noleggiare desk with my young family. I took a while to be seen to as the staff were rudely chatting amongst themselves. When finally being seen, a very rude man told me I was too late for my booking and that the car had been given to someone else!!! As you can imagine I was extremely upset and received nothing but arrogance and rudeness from the member of staff. He was adamant that I hadn`t provided them with my Flight details, but I HAD! and it`s on my booking voucher. I was only a few minutes past the 2 hour landing time. I wasn`t offered any help in finding another car, or how to get help. By this time I was crying and my young children were upset. I kindly ask if you could reimburse the £170.45 that I paid for the booking, as this was never received. It ruined my holiday, and don`t see the point of providing a flight number if it isn`t checked the other end? "

" The collection of the keys was very slow, we received the keys and then needed to go to a VERY dark carpark to find the car, no assistance from Noleggiare. Very difficult to check the car over for damage so luckily I took a video of the car and spotted some damage on the door. When we returned we dropped the car off and then 2 days later received a request for 330euros for damage (scratch) to the door, which was already there. I have sent them the video however I have not had a response back as yet, 3 days a go! I suspect they have asked other renters to pay for this scratch previously!!! "

When I returned the car - people swarmed all over it, complained about the small amount of sand on the floor, then "found" another scratch on the front... I did not scratch the car, but had failed to take any additional photos before I took the car - for the reasons above. This scratch that they claim was new - was about 2 cm long, and they charged my credit card £200. It already had 8 scratches, which they obviously do nothing about... On Tuesday 9th July my son and along with our family arrived to pick up our 2 cars which we had both pre ordered a few months in advance- us with yourselves and my son with another broker. We arrived at 10.10 and according to the lady on the desk "Chiara" we were too late to pick up the car by 40 minutes. (30 of these minutes we were actually in the queue whilst she served someone else) and informed my son his car was no longer available. However, she then proceeded to pressure my son into paying an extra £300 euros to hire a bigger car for 10 days. My son obviously refused this as he was well within the 2 hour grace period as stated in his contract. She still refused to listen and it was at this point that I stated that this was a crazy situation. Chiara misunderstood this completely as clearly her English wasn't very good and said I had insulted her! She then also refused point blank to give me my car! She kept telling us to ring yourselves which we did. In the meantime she refused to acknowledge we were there whilst she continued to serve others . She also refused for us to speak to her manager Tiziana. We were baffled as to why she was refusing to give us a car, as there was no reason for her to do this. We had had a long early journey with a 2 year old child, who was getting more and more agitated and merely wanted to pick up our car and carry on our journey. My son left the queue and re hired his car with another company who were very accommodating given the circumstances. I unfortunately was still waiting for Chiara to give me a car. After having spoken to yourselves and handing the phone to her so that she could speak with you it was an hour and a half later that she felt it was my "turn" to be served. I have rented cars for 30 years, often with autoeurope and this has by far been my worst experience! It was very clear that the desk was 'undermanned', and she was the completely un capable of managing the paperwork. I have to stress how completely unhelpful she was and instead of simply dealing with the situation her obstinate manner escalated the situation . " Was offered extra insurance at the desk on arrival which was initially confusing as I had purchased full damage insurance with AutoEurope. They wanted me to purchase Noleggiare insurance as well at around €600. I didn't take this but it was unsettling as a first time renter in Italy. The car was quite damaged when we picked it up. We had to carefully inspect the car and found a few more areas of damage that had not been logged. The staff advised us to take some photos and helped go round the car to double check everything. We had a bit of difficult initially as there was a parcel shelf in the third row of seats which needed to remain in the car for the duration of the rental. As we had 6 people this wasn't ideal, but they insisted that it had to remain in the vehicle for the duration. It would have been easier for it to be left at the rental office. We eventually managed to put it on the floor of the second row of seats on a diagonal. And had to make sure our kids didn't damage it with their feet during the journey. Anyway, we managed and all was fine. The drop off was straightforward and my deposit was refunded. The car was very easy to drive however the windscreen wipers needed replaced and did not clear the windscreen effectively. "

" I chose not to take out the extortionately priced extra insurance of €360 for a one week rental which equates to €18,730 Pa. I had no issues at all while I had the car but on returning the vehicle the operative could find nothing untoward based on the condition of car when I received it so he got down on his knees at the front of the car and ran his hand under the front bumper. He then announced that there was damage I.e a scratch under the bumper that was not recorded in his system. There was no external visible sign of anything wrong on the actual bumper to see and he said if I didn't have any proof that this scratch was there when I rented the car I would have the pay for the damage. I asked why would I take photos under the car to see if there was damage when there was no visible sign of an issue on the bumper. He said I should take photos of all parts of the car including this area to avoid such situations. He then proceeded to charge me €230 for the damage and said if I don't sign the form to accept that I had caused the damage then I would not be able to claim against any other insurance I may have. I had no choice but to sign the form accepting that I had caused the damage which I had not. I guess they got the equivalent if their insurance premium after all. Wouldn't surprise me f they pull this trick each time someone does not buy their insurance. This is extortion and corrupt and I will never use your services again. "

" the booking in process took well over 30 minutes and we were given a car which was not what was ordered ,but they said that was the car that was booked (Tuscon) they also tried to sell us damage insureance when i told them i had my own they took a 800 euro deposit .but in the end the car was fine for me , the damage document listed about 8 points of damage but on inspection on collection we recorded at least 10 more damage areas that were not recorded and we spen an hour having all this sorted. the car itself on running was faultless and economical "

" Auto Europe's service and communication has been good, but not your rental company partner, Noleggiare. I would not use Noleggiare again, and it makes me doubt using Auto Europe in the future. As a respectable car rental wholesaler, you should only lead me to rental companies whose practises and standards are equal to yours. What's the use of a good booker if they send you to dodgy companies? Looks to me as though there needs to be better synergy between Auto Europe and its associates. This behaviour on the part of Noleggiare made a service that should be simple and straightforward into one that was stressful and obstructive. Please let me know your response to this. And DO NOT PASS MY PERSONAL DETAILS TO NOLEGGIARE if you share the complaints with them. "
" Two very bad things about Noleggiare that you should pay attention to: 1. Noleggiare tried to hard sell me their own accident cover at the pick up desk in Pisa, even though I had already bought full cover through you. They cast doubt on the value of the Auto Europe cover and exerted rapid-fire pressure on me -- i was now concerned that I hadn't got pre-booked comprehensive cover as I had thought. It took a while for me to work out the difference between the two covers and after a phone call to Auto Europe for clarification at the desk, I refused Noleggiare. But this was an unpleasant, time wasting experience. Not what you want when you've just arrived a country where you don't speak the language, and have to make a long drive in a car you've never used before, and have got kids distracting you. By the way, Noleggiare were trying the same thing with another woman who was picking up a car at the same time as me, so they are clearly trained to do this. They also told: ' next time, don't go through Auto Europe, come to us direct and we will get you a better deal'. 2. The second unacceptable thing is that I had rented the car for a month and was the named driver. My husband joined me for a week at the end of the trip and when I rang Noleggiare on his arrival to add him as a driver, they wanted to charge me for every day of the whole 30 day rental period, not just the 7 days he was in Italy. Why? This is crazy! I can't even work out what the justification would be. It's unhelpful, rigid and unnecessary. They mumbled something about 'how do we know that he hasn't been there all the time. You might be trying to cheat us.' This makes no sense. It is easy to verify driver's documents online, so surely that can't be the problem. If I had been allowing an unnamed person to drive my rental car for a month, we wouldn't be insured in the event of a problem, so why would I even bother? This unhelpful lack of service needs to be addressed. "

I truly don't think that it was me to damage the car but there is no much that I can do to push back this, because the contract clearly states that in case of drop off outside working hours they have 3 days of time to notify any damage. I had a quick look around the car and thought the slight defects and paint scratches were deliberately left out on car damage diagram as not a single defect was recorded. Rented the car for 4 days and drove around Lake Garda uneventfully. After returning the car, every single of these small defects were pointed out and was advised to pay!! Still at correspondence stage. Now I understand the reason for the cheaper price. There was also the waiting point for collection was not clear so wasted time calling them to pinpoint the location from the airport. If you still want to use this company I suggest to do a thorough video recording pre-drive off and point out EVERY single defect you can find and then return back to the reception (as he would not have bothered to check with you) and insist to mark the car condition diagram together. "

I was ok biting the bullet for the larger car as we had 3 large pieces of luggage. Upon return I had to drop the key (out of hours) only to get a nasty surprise on email later that they 'found' damage to the car. No way to refute this as I hadn't taken a video of the car when I dropped it off. The photos they sent were not clear and I do not think there was damage under my rental (car was kept in garage for most of the week). Overall, feels like a sleek machine to make money off expensive upgrades and bogus damage claims. "

" We had a puncture and this required a recovery vehicle as there was no spare wheel on the car and the fluid system did not work. this meant we did not get the car back for the planned time of 2 pm as we waited 2.5 hours for a recovery vehicle. We returned the vehicle at approx 18.30 we were then charged for a full day. i think in the circumstances this was unfair. if the breakdown vehicle had have come sooner we would have made it to the airport on time. We found it impossible to get through to Noleggiare break down service using the free phone number and when we used the land line it took absolutely ages to get through . They are since trying to charge me for damage evening though I dropped the car off with out damage and I have given them photo evidence to prove this. They are telling me that I am responsible for the car even after drop until their office opens again in the morning. It's outrageous! I am waiting for them to prove to me that the car was actually damaged. " Noleggiare rang Auto Europe during our altercation in their offices because they were claiming that the issue was not their fault but rather it was Auto Europe's and therefore they wanted us to speak with Auto Europe to hear their justification and explanation. The woman we spoke to at Auto Europe (she spoke both Italian and English quite well) made some very outlandish claims in defense of Auto Europe, stating that whatever was printed on our Auto Europe rental voucher didn't really matter because surely when we were on the website reserving the vehicle we'll probably have seen some information indicating that the car could only seat 5 people and carry 2 suitcases, and somehow this "probability" trumped whatever was printed on our rental voucher. She also claimed that the Land Rover Discovery vehicle has only 5 seats, which is abjectly incorrect as they have only been made with 7 seats for at least the last 20 years (as can be verified easily via an internet search); however, it seems Auto Europe and Noleggiare both chose to not accept this reality. In any event, in our eyes Auto Europe has lost all credibility and I can't imagine that we will ever rent another vehicle through yourselves or any affiliated companies. "
" We pre-paid for a vehicle described on the rental voucher as a "Land Rover Discovery" and "Full Sized SUV". I would point out that Land Rover Discovery's are 7 seat vehicles. Upon arriving at Noleggiare we were informed that we were actually not entitled to a car that even remotely fit that description other than that it should be able to seat up to 5 people and carry 2 suitcases. There were 4 of us, including my wife's 85 year old mother, and we each had 1 large suitcase and 1 small suitcase for our planned 1 week stay in Italy. Any full sized SUV could have accommodated us, but not the cars Noleggiare was proposing. To their dubious credit, they did provide us with an Audi estate car which just about fit the 4 large suitcases in the boot, but the passengers had to carry the smaller suitcases on their laps for the 2.5 hour trip to our destination and then back again for drop off at the end of the holiday. We were told by Noleggiare that if we wanted a full sized SUV comparable car we would have to pay an additional Euro 600+ on top of what we had already pre-paid for our rental. We spent nearly 2 hours having a nightmare experience in Noleggiare's offices before we finally gave up accepted that we weren't going to get the type of car that we had reserved. "

" In airport office location and counter service were first class however we chose this deal on the basis of "car pick-up at the airport" only to find pick up necessitated getting on a shuttle . It took 20mins or so by shuttle to P3, so be it. The noleggaire kiosk in P3 was easy to find however the young guy at the kiosk reception was a little loose and unprofessional but the car we received was upgraded and almost new with only a small few marks which we recorded on video. The return journey to the P3 was easily found we verified all was in order re: fuel and condition of the vehicle at the kiosk. The gentleman dealing with the return was professional and confirmed all was in order and that the €600 security block on my card would revert in the coming days. We were reasonably happy with the service overall and would use Auto Europe and noleggaire again especially with the extra inexpensive €6 deposit insurance cover offering extra peace of mind.. "

" Hi there, I can't see another way of contacting AutoEurope by email so I thought I would write here. When we arrived I was asked for an International Driving License, which I didn't have. I have rented dozens of vehicles in Italy over the past 20 years and have never had to present an IDL. I rented in Sicily in April 2023 and was not asked for one. I called AutoEurope and was advices to engage in a completely new booking with Noleggiare (which cost twice as much as my original booking) and was told by Heather at the call center that I would be reimbursed the money for this new booking since Noleggiare should honour the original booking. " Counter staff were good. Staff when collecting the vehicle were aggressive, unhelpful and a very bad experience. The car was smaller than ordered. When I raised this, basically told tough, don't care. We ordered a full size suv as we had to transport bags and large buggy. As a result of the smaller SUV, we had to cram everything in and have the parcel shelf across the children for the 1.5 hour drive to our accommodation. This was a very bad experience. The car has several large scrapes, and I was told to video them as the staff member couldn't be bothered to come out to the vehicle or inspect the damage on collection with me. The child seats were in very poor condition, particularly the booster seat. When asked to change for the other seat that I could see, we were refused. Finally, on drop off, I was challenged about the scrape and had to produce the video evidence. Had I not had that video, he would have tried to charge me. All together, terrible experience. "

" The experience, quality and fulfilment of this reservation has been woeful. Below is a list of the issues experienced. Case has been riased over 5 days ago with Auto-Europe with 0 response to date. 1) The booking was for a Land Rover Discovery, full size SUV or Similar. This is required due to a party of 4 adults and luggage on this trip. Upon arrival we were informed by NOLEGGIARE they do not offer a Land Rover Discovery, nor anything of that size. We were offered a Ford Focus Estate as a replacement, being told this is in fact a class above our booking, which is clearly is not. After 45 minutes of not accepting this situation, we were offered a replacement the next day, which could be picked up in Turin City post 4.30pm. Luckily we were due to stay Turin for 48 hours. The replacement vehicle provided was a little better, a Pontiac XT4, but still not a full class SUV and post some arranging we were only just able to fit 4 pieces of luggage into the boot. 2) The replacement car (Pontiac XT4) was in a very poor state and in fact most likely not road legal. However we had not choice but to proceed as no alternative was offered and we needed the vehicle to continue our trip. The vehicle has a smashed driver side wing mirror rendering it unusable and the passenger side wing mirror has obviously been replaced in the past with a piece of mirrored plastic which warps any reflection so badly it is also unusable. In summary; We have been provided a vehicle sub the class of vehicle we paid for, so this contract remains unfulfilled, and the compromise vehicle provided had damage which could render it not road worthy under local law. Additionally I am appalled that the rental company attempted for 'fob us off' by offering a ford focus estate stating that was a class above that which I had booked.. clearly not a honest statement to make. "

" Called Auro Europe during my holiday to try and resolve the issue with being charged double the original cost. The first person said it should be possible to sort out as was still an active rental, put me on hold to speak to their manager and then got cut off after 20 mins. Called back and eventually got through to a second person who contradicted the first and said nothing could be done until the rental was finished. Overall spent almost an hour on the phone (mostly on hold) and no satisfactory response or guarantee this would get sorted out. Trie to avoid any possible issues by booking through a reputable company - not the cheapest - but somehow ended up having a lot of hassle and time wasted during and after our holiday and feeling ripped off. Main issue for us was they told us our 'full coverage' booking with Auto Europe was not valid and we had to pay double the amount again then and there to take the car with the level of protection we had already booked and paid for. Having read terrible reviews of experiences from customers who had not taken full coverage we did not want to take the risk. The car itself (upgraded as they didn't have the one we booked) already had badly damaged bodywork when we collected in so we were glad to have the full protection and not face even more hassle arguing about damage. The instructions provided by Auto Europe on the paperwork for drop off were wrong and luckily we (correctly) assumed it would be the same place that we collected the car from but still had to call on the day of drop off to get the actual address as neither Auto Europe or Noleggiare provided this. " I arrived late to the Noleggiare counter to pick up the car and the staff told me that there was no longer a car for me. They didn't even try to contact me to see if I was coming and when I tried calling there was no reply. Fortunately Sergei M at Auto Europe was super helpful on the phone and helped me cancel the reservation and do a new one. I had to wait another hour or so but it meant I could get a car in the end for more or less the same cost. Once I got the car, it was too small I would say for what I booked. We had two pieces of check in luggage and they couldn't fit in the boot of the car. I had to place one fo them between my kids in the back seat. Not ideal but we just needed to drop the luggage in the hotel first so that was acceptable. "

We spent over an hour in the office arguing over the AE contract versus their 'made up' charges. Having won that battle we were then presented with a car which had a broken wiper and had to wait for a car swap. A poor customer experience; suggest you don't contract with them in future. "

" See above - a mixed bag, the process can be improved quite a lot by sorting out the queuing and by making very clear in BLOCK CAPITALS how customers have to comply with requirements. "
" The queuing experience was really dreadful. The office has a ticket machine, so on arrival at the office customers were expected to take a ticket so that they could leave the queue but maintain their place. Unfortunately some customers would press for a ticket more than once, so that a few tickets were lying around. That meant that customers could pick up a ticket that was issued earlier and jump the queue. There were many disgruntled customers. It also meant that the numbering system did not work correctly as there were significant gaps between numbers actually held and those displayed on the screen. I'm sure that one customer arrived in the queue after me, then disappeared for a while, then returned with a lower numbered ticket than the one I held, and insisted in going before me. In the office, it was clear that some customers did not understand how they should comply with the booking requirements - that must be very frustrating for the office staff, so perhaps some extra warning could be issued during online booking eg the main driver has to present a credit card in their own name to complete the booking - incredibly one couple were trying to argue that it should not be necessary, causing a delay. Once in the office my process was quite efficient, but overall a frustrating experience. "

" This was the worse car hire experience I have ever had in 40 years of renting hire cars. The AE voucher clearly stated "Hire desk in terminal" Noleggiare did not have a hire desk in the terminal and none of the hire companies there knew of them. I specifically called AE to check that this company did have a hire desk in the terminal because I had a tight time schedule and I needed to leave the airport ASAP. The phone number for the hire company written on your voucher was disconnected so I was unable to call Noleggiare. I waited outside the terminal where other companies had shuttle buses arriving and I called AE. I was told that the hire company were 4 km from the airport when I asked why I had not been told this and why my voucher didn't mention this the person didn't know. I was put on hold while the AE staff member called the company and after waiting about 10 minutes the line went dead. I called a second time and was eventually connected to someone who told me that they were calling the hire company. Again I had to wait a long time. Eventually this person said that a minibus was waiting at the pick up point. I went there and there was no minibus there. After 10 minutes I noticed a minibus arrive with no signage whatsoever. The driver took me and several other very unhappy customers to the Noleggiare office which was in a shop premises on a side road with no parking anywhere close. I asked the company representative where the hire cars were and he said they were close by, when I then asked if I could see the car I have reserved ( An Indian Mahindra ) the man became very angry and began shouting at me. He told me to stand to one side and then began dealing with the next customer who was also very concerned at this point. After 10 minutes of having to wait not knowing if I was going to be renting a car, the driver of the minibus arrived and told me to follow him. We walked through a series of backstreets in a residential area for about 5-10 minutes and eventually we found the car. He drove me back to the office where I completed the paperwork. I was told that when I return the car I had to take a photo of the car wherever I parked it and email it to an address on a slip of paper if no one was in their office. I went to the car which had been parked on the pavement opposite the hire office and noticed that it was parked illegally in a no parking zone. ( I have photos to show this and the office ) I had just got into the car when a police car pulled alongside me. The policeman was very stern and told me to move the car immediately. When I returned the car the man at the hire office told me to leave the car in the same place on the pavement and after checking that I had left the vehicle full with fuel he opened the boot and left the hazzard warning lights on. The car stayed there as if it was unloading until a taxi van arrived to take me to the airport. The man told me that the company will be opening a hire desk in the airport in a weeks time which may be the case however I cannot understand why AutoEurope did not carry out sufficient due diligence before working with this company who have never had a hire desk in Bergamo airport. Why was I told that the hire company did have a desk in the airport terminal, why did my voucher clearly state that this was the case. I wasted more than 3 hours in total with this very frustrating situation through no fault of my own. " This was the worse car hire experience I have ever had in 40 years of renting hire cars. The AE voucher clearly stated "Hire desk in terminal" Noleggiare did not have a hire desk in the terminal and none of the hire companies there knew of them. I specifically called AE to check that this company did have a hire desk in the terminal because I had a tight time schedule and I needed to leave the airport ASAP. The phone number for the hire company written on your voucher was disconnected so I was unable to call Noleggiare. I waited outside the terminal where other companies had shuttle buses arriving and I called AE. I was told that the hire company were 4 km from the airport when I asked why I had not been told this and why my voucher didn't mention this the person didn't know. I was put on hold while the AE staff member called the company and after waiting about 10 minutes the line went dead. I called a second time and was eventually connected to someone who told me that they were calling the hire company. Again I had to wait a long time. Eventually this person said that a minibus was waiting at the pick up point. I went there and there was no minibus there. After 10 minutes I noticed a minibus arrive with no signage whatsoever. The driver took me and several other very unhappy customers to the Noleggiare office which was in a shop premises on a side road with no parking anywhere close. I asked the company representative where the hire cars were and he said they were close by, when I then asked if I could see the car I have reserved ( An Indian Mahindra ) the man became very angry and began shouting at me. He told me to stand to one side and then began dealing with the next customer who was also very concerned at this point. After 10 minutes of having to wait not knowing if I was going to be renting a car, the driver of the minibus arrived and told me to follow him. We walked through a series of backstreets in a residential area for about 5-10 minutes and eventually we found the car. He drove me back to the office where I completed the paperwork. I was told that when I return the car I had to take a photo of the car wherever I parked it and email it to an address on a slip of paper if no one was in their office. I went to the car which had been parked on the pavement opposite the hire office and noticed that it was parked illegally in a no parking zone. ( I have photos to show this and the office ) I had just got into the car when a police car pulled alongside me. The policeman was very stern and told me to move the car immediately. When I returned the car the man at the hire office told me to leave the car in the same place on the pavement and after checking that I had left the vehicle full with fuel he opened the boot and left the hazzard warning lights on. The car stayed there as if it was unloading until a taxi van arrived to take me to the airport. The man told me that the company will be opening a hire desk in the airport in a weeks time which may be the case however I cannot understand why AutoEurope did not carry out sufficient due diligence before working with this company who have never had a hire desk in Bergamo airport. Why was I told that the hire company did have a desk in the airport terminal, why did my voucher clearly state that this was the case. I wasted more than 3 hours in total with this very frustrating situation through no fault of my own. " After our initial flight was cancelled I was unable to collect the car until the next day and I was very disappointed when Auto Europe initial response was to cancel my booking and make a new one, and pay a change fee. However, after a discussion they put me through to the supplier in Italy and they had no issues with holding the car to the next day, with no additional costs. The lady in front of me when picking up the car was in the same situation as me and she had done the cancel and re book option which was totally unnecessary. Not only did she pay a cancellation fee the new booking was more expensive. I'm unlikely to use Auto Europe again "

" I have never had such an awful experience of hiring a car . We arrived at the airport at 7.30pm and made our way to the collection point but had nmissed the last shuttle. We phoned the Noleggiare office and were told we would have to walk to their offices. Nearly a km away with luggage and young children and a pregnant wife. I asked if they could provide me directions and they jus said " go straight" . we spent 20 minutes looking for their offices and tried phoning them again but they had closed. We were then stranded in Naples airport with young children so had to get a taxi to Pompei where our hotel reservation was. this cost me EUR 100. I then returned via train from Pompei to Naples to the No Leggiare offices at 8.00am the next morning to collect my car only to be told the booking was invalid as I had failed to collect the car the night before. they advised I needed to contact AutoEurope to have them amend the booking start date to 20th September, I phoned AutoEurope Italy office who refused to change my booking despite me setting out my situation with my family. They offered to cancel the reservation and charge me EUR 60 admin fee! I could not understand how you could not simply amend the booking as the car was in the Noleggiare compound. I eventually got so frustrated I took the refund and had to spend 3 hours organising a replacement car for my family. Disgusted at your lack of empathy and that Noleggiare refused to stay open until I arrived or offer me any assistance. I will never use you again and I will also make sure none of my friends or business colleagues ever use your company. "

" 1.) There was a disagreement as to what type of vehicle had been booked. The representative focused on the fact I had order a seven seat vehicle and that was what he had provided with the Peugeot 5008. I had researched the Citroen Space Tourer before booking it and was confident that although it was a seven seat vehicle with room for two large bags and three small bags, we would be able to seat six people and accommodate the luggage we would take with us in order to get from the airport to our accommodation and back. 2.) €2,800 Excess is not described in any of the information I had review before booking, and was not apparent until I arrived at the airport, and is far in excess of any levels we are used to here in the UK. I personally have vehicle insure fully comprehensive, with excess levels of £150, and £200, I would not consider insuring a vehicle with a company with an excess over £2,500. This should be highlighted before the booking is confirmed in order to be transparent and allow people make an informed decision. This is a significant condition of the rental, and is likely to be more influential in the decision making process than limited mileage, or whether the vehicle is returned with a full tank of fuel, etc. It is not a risk I would want to be exposed to driving in a foreign country, on unfamiliar roads, in an unfamiliar vehicle, in my case much larger than I usually drive. "
" As we were a party of six adults, including two in their 80's, I had booked a Citroen Space Tourer (Full size van) "or similar" as it had seven seats and I estimated that we would be able to fit all of our luggage in, it showed sliding doors on the side, which I thought would give better access for the elderly. I had also selected the more expensive hire to included "Excess guarantee with extensive coverage including wheels, underside and roof". On arrival at the collection desk, after queuing for almost an hour, I was told that the vehicle we had been allocated was a Peugeot 5008, and that there was a €2,800 excess associated with this vehicle. In order to waive this excess a charge of €424.62 was made. The two rearmost seats in the 5008 are not full size seats as they lift out of the boot floor. With one of these seats folded into the floor to provide the required six seats, there was not sufficient space to accommodate all of our luggage, irrespective of how I tried to pack it. I returned to the collection desk and was eventually provided with a larger vehicle, a Ford Tourneo, which was perfect, and in fact a full size van, however I had to pay an additional charge of €234.20. On closer inspection of the two rental agreements I had, there were other spurious additional charges added. I had paid £785.31 in January, and was expecting to pay around £45 at the airport for an additional driver. Before I could leave the airport in a vehicle which was "or similar" to the vehicle booked I had paid an additional €785.96, over £700. "

However when I went to collect the vehicle a member of staff was only interested in checking whether the vehicle was full of fuel. There were a number of dents which looked to be from hail stones on the vehicle and some trim missing below a side window on the near side rear passenger door. There were two holes in trim on the rear door too. Twice I tried to speak with a member of staff to agree the damages but he said it was 'My problem'. " Collection point was incorrect, P5 instead of P4. Signage was poor, it took an hour to locate the correct point. On collection, I had to go around the vehicle and identify all the damage to the car which was considerable. On returning the car damage was identified which was not on the collection check sheet, I am not sure if I just missed the damage on collection or not. Initially wanted to charge me 500 euros and I refused, I now have a bill for 375 euros "

" As the shuttle bus pick up point was in a different place to other car renters, and as nobody at Naples airport seemed to be aware of where this was, we wasted a long time trying to find it. " The car was fine but I ended up having to pay for extremely expensive insurance that I did not want. The Noleggiare person (Palermo airport, 1 July 2018) claimed that she could not 'block' Euro 1,600 on my credit card to cover the excess if I did not buy the insurance. I had a debit card with me and another credit card, but she would not accept either. I ended up having to pay Euro 592 for extra insurance - for a hire of 17 days! Outrageous. It was the only way she would let me have the car. My credit card worked for payment, but not for blocking, allegedly. I phoned my credit-card company when I returned from Sicily a few days ago (I tried to phone them on the day but could not get an answer quickly enough). They said there was no problem with my credit card on 1 July, and they had no record of an attempt to block any amount on my card on that day. So I did nothing wrong but ended up forced to pay Euro 592 more than I should have done. I feel exploited by Noleggiare and that their behavior is possibly fraudulent. "

" Our plane was late 35 minutes and it took 25 minutes to get our luggage, so when we arrived at the counter they asked about our delay, and they said that unfortunately we were more than 59 minutes late, so they gave away the car, no where I read about this condition in the contract and moreover there was a delay of the flight that was not our fault. We were forced to get a car of a superior category and at the end we were charged by you and by them, twice. In the parking lot we noticed that there were plenty of cars of the category we wanted available. The employee at the counter were aggressive and lie about the car availability, it was very unpleasant. "

" Extremely rude check in staff. I don;t have a credit card and was informed that because of this I had to pay an extra 130 euro. I accept this is in the small print and is my error. But firstly it is a ridiculous sum of money, as much as the car hire, and secondly your check in staff were very rude in how they explained it and effectively told me I was stupid if I hadn't read the T&C's. They are obviously perfect in any respect and will never make a mistake. I would recommend a bit of tact, sympathy in such a situation - perhaps?! Woeking in a customer facing industry I can assure you this approach is a sure way to bankruptcy. I have never owned a credit card, that is my decision and as a result of this and your disrepectful customer service won't use your service, won't recommend it and am adding my feedback to the FSB and CBI over here and all business fourms I am a member of. "

" I wouldnt recommend Autoeurope unless you do something about Noleggiare and their sharp practices in Olbia. They are the Goldcar of the past. Unless you do something they will not clean up their act and this will continue to reflect on you.... "
" How long have you got. Very very hard sell excess insurance at Euro 108. Had rung to notify that my husband had lost his licence but had a copy on his phone and was told this was not a problem. It was. To make me the driver I had to pay the excess insurance even though I already had my own. Instead of blocking my card with Euro 150 they debited it and I am waiting for a refund. I am aa Tour Operator and booked 6 cars through you for my Travel Agents. They were all pressurised to take excess. Those that didn't- Mia Newton for example were charged for virtually non existant scratches. In her case you couldn't even see the scratch but apparently he could feel it!. She has asked for photographic evidence for her excess company and nothing has appeared. They are running a scam and you should not recommend this company. They charged her Euro 230 for a scratch you cant even see!!!! "

" Booked car for 9am , pre paid and received confirmation. I arrived at 9.55 and waited in a queue for 30mins .When I got to the desk I was told that there was no booking. The reason given - They only allow 1hr to collect your vehicle ,after that the booking is cancelled. Unbelievable !! I only got the car by refusing to leave the front of the queue which was getting very long and people behind were getting frustrated . Please beware - only book if you are confident that your plane will arrive on time , your baggage will be first off the carousel and you can find your way to the car hire office, which is situated in a unit outside .Then prey there be no queue at the desk !
