" I think you have been badly let down by the Hertz desk staff. I could not have been any clearer in my question of whether there were any more charges. If this extra charge had been explained beforehand I may not have been happy but would have had the chance to comment before handing over my credit card. If there was an extra charge they must know how much it will be for an 8 day hire BEFORE you take the car. I believe there tactice were at best underhand. I would appreciate someone from Auto Europe contacting me by email as I do not know whether they are aware of this practice. "
" We booked through A.E. which was very efficient. Arrived in Faro in 25 deg heat. Trecked over to car park 4. After 20 minutes found we needed to go to car park 2, Herz desk. The Hertz official explained the toll system which we have used many times. He said it would work out about 50E which seemed odd as we nor he had any idea how much we would use the motorway. I asked if the tolls would be all there was to pay he said yes, I double checked and he was very abrupt with 'yes I have alredy told you. Drove to the gatehouse and went round the car with the gut there. We found a split in the sidewall of the tyre which he said was unsafe. Went back to the office and was given the keys to another car. Drove a nice car for a 8 days. Went to hand back the keys and was told there was a charge of 58Euros. I said I thought the toll charges took a couple of weeks to come through and was in formed this was an extra charge to collect the tolls. I was not happy as I had gone to great lengths to ascertain there were no extra charges. I am NOT HAPPY. "

" This was a good experience the car was clean. The service was very good. Still trying to understand the fuel return policy. Not sure how a 1/4 tank of petrol costs 71 euros. This does include the tag and road charges. I understand this. But at best 10 euros. So a 1/4 tank has been charged at 61 euros. Check it out before you leave. "

" I click on this image with "NO EXCESS" and paid 30 pounds more because I believed I had some reduced excess deal. But when I got to the hire desk, the man rightly pointed out that the contract note you sent me mentioned nothing of the sort. In this particular case, it didn't matter because there was no damage, but in future, if I pay extra for "No Excess", I expect to see it written on your documentation. Otherwise all good. " On dropping the car off we had 82 euros added to our bill - the cost of using the toll road from Faro to Carvoeiro and back - which costs less than 5 euros. We often rent cars in Faro and the price you have charged is extortionate - the most we have paid is 30 euros - cars are all prefitted with monitors. When we tried to question the charges with the customer services desk we could not get any detail or a breakdown and then just strugged it off as they were busy. We then had to leave as we had to get our flight as we would have been late. The charges were not presented to us when we picked the car up or when we dropped the car off. I have emailed customer services twice on our return and have not received any reply - i have automated responses so i know they have been received. "

We could not get the cost of the toll tracker and said it would be calculated at the end if we used the monitor and that all cars are pre-fitted with them . " Firstly my order of a car was cancelled and I was put through the stress of finding out it was recreated on another order (the assistant was utterly useless in telling me this). On arriving at faro we went to Avis to be told that we needed to get on a shuttle to payless. We waited no shuttle came so we walked to payless along a very busy road to be met be an completely indifferent and rude rep. She then told us as we didn't have our passports to hand that she wouldn't process our car and she had another client to deal with. We were then driven back to Avis to handle our car requirements. Avis then we're very helpful and upgraded our car and the drop off was seamless. Payless are incompetent and unprofessional and I will never use their services again. "

Staff at the car hire desk (for other budget hire in car park 4) said we could be waiting up to two hours for the courtesy car to take us to Payless pickup. Budget Avis sorted us out, but we're somewhat begrudging, saying the person at Payless was probably on their lunch break. In the course of out holiday we wanted to extend the hire by 4 hours. None of the Payless phone numbers were answered, despite hanging on for in excess of 30 minutes, emails to their address bounced back as the email address was invalid. It was also impossible to get through to Budget Avis at Faro. Have read reviews of Payless online and gas I read them before I would ever have booked with them. Useless, disreputable company. "

" When we arrived we were kept waiting for over an hour to be picked up. I was then pressured into buying excess protection insurance at a cost of over €500. The representative did not explain the cost of this. It was daylight robbery and made a mockery of the name payless. I ended up paying more. The car itself was fine. We flew out early on Sunday 5th August and the office was closed. The representative told me to return the car to the pickup office in Car Park 4 at the airport. The staff there refused to take ownership of the keys and told me to leave the car open with the keys hidden behind the sun visor. They said someone would come and recover the car. They were not helpful and less than complimentary about payless. I received a phone call from your office today 8th August asking where the car was. I told the man what had happened and he made it clear he wasn't very happy. I told him I had followed the instructions I was given. As I said the car was fine but the overall service and customer care was atrocious. I won't be using payless again. "

" VERY expensive Baby seat and Booster seat (almost €200!!!) for 8 days. Could have bought brand new ones for much less. We were charged for 2 baby seats - and only had one , plus a nasty used booster pad. Not much you can do about it at the airport with 2 little ones to transport. That was a big let -down.- and a refund of part of it would be appreciated. Check in very slow (40 minutes) - only 2 staff at the AVIS desk. Poor showing! "
