" When we picked the car up everything looked ok but when we stopped after the first drive we noticed a piece of trim around the rear wheel arch had come away from the bodywork slightly but if you pushed it back it was ok, just a clip not engaging properly. At the end of the rental there was nobody to accept the car and we had to post the keys in a box. When I got home I got an email claiming we had damaged the car and they are going to charge me for repairs. I have complained but 3 days after getting home have only received an acknowledgment of receipt of the complaint. I hadn't taken out their very expensive insurance so I think they are just trying to rip me off. I do have insurance which I took out but I don't think I should claim as we didn't cause any damage "

" Pretty terrible experience from start to finish. On arrival to pick up the car, we were given one which was covered in sand, presumably from a recent storm. It was filthy, which made a mockery of safety (all the windows needed cleaning by us before we could safely drive off). The staff member carrying out the check-out did nothing to resolve this, even though a row of clean Sixt cars were available. Then, on return of the vehicle, there was no-one at the desk. This was fine, although it was a little perturbing to see 6 unopened bottles of beer sat on the desk (I hope the staff weren't planning to drink these on their next shift!). I left the keys on the safe, before the check-in time. However, I then received an email later that day asking whether I needed to extend my rental, so clearly your staff don't check the safe (maybe they had started drinking the beers by this point??). Then, most annoyingly, I received a bill from Sixt charging me a further 60,52 EUR!! The invoice attached for this was completely illegible (is this deliberate) but I can only assume that this was a charge for an extra day's rental. If so, I expect this to be refunded and maybe suggest your team focus on checking the key drop-off before tucking into the San Miguel beers ... Overall, very bad service from Sixt, and the additional charge abive what Auto Europe quoted is just unacceptable. "

" Car hire costs have crept up significantly these past couple of years. I'm not convinced of the reasons given and believe it's just making up for lost income during COVID. Also, our flight times in and out meant that we needed a car for 8 days and 2 hours. But not possible to rent for a couple of extra hours, has to be a whole day. Why? Makes no sense other than financial gain for renters and it's a rip off. We elected to wait an hour after landing and arrive an hour earlier for our departing flight rather than pay for 9 days but whichever operator deals with this issue will gain business I am sure. "

On arrival to our car we immediately saw a substantial dent in the driver door not declared on their paperwork, office had closed and as we had no phone signal the picture was not emailed to them until the following morning. Email back was quite short and rude. The picture I took was timed and dated. I think staff should accompany customesr to their cars. To date it appears nothing has come off our credit card but if it does I will be strongly contesting it. Staff when we dropped in off were quite considerate and dealy with issue maturely. Not sure I would use Sixt again however, I have a funny feeling they knew that dent was already there. "

" There was not a garage in the vicinity of the airport. I had only used 1/8 of the fuel (driven less than 100km in 2 days). Advised counter that car needed refuelling - told that was no problem. Astonished to be charged a €16 refuelling charge in addition to cost of fuel. Disgraceful!!! "

However, we have 2 main concerns about our experience: 1) Although we returned the car on-time, clean and with more than the fuel that we received, there is a £13.54 deduction in the refund that I do not understand (05/06/2019: £228.66 debit transaction --versus-- 10/06/2019: £215.12 credit transaction) 2) Officer in the airport insisted me to submit a credit card, however I could only submit VISA debit card, she did not accept it and it took half an hour to persuade her to accept my Debit Card. At the end, it worked but we were late to our appointment. This situation is not a good experience, especially after a flight as a family. The staff could be trained on the alternative payments methods. "

They charged us the full 1,000 Euros excess. We tried to discuss the matter in a reasonable way with them but they were entirely unhelpful. The way we were treated was very poor, rude, and borderline fraudulent. "

We picked up our Renault Clio but unfortunately there was a problem with vibration so after a few miles we headed back to the airport car hire.
