" Thrifty charged me two deposits initially $500 on a debit card then they said I should provide a credit card on which they charged another $200 and promised they will refund the $500 which they never did. I spent hours with their useless customer services. They can'T locate the deposit. My bank is disputing but they are not responding. Daylight robbery. "

" Ordering the car was good and most of the process was good but pick up was not! "

" This questionnaire doesn't ask about pick-up! I waited in line which was moving so slowly, read the Skip the Line advert and so did that. After waiting 20 minutes it said there was no car and only an upgrade. So I had to get back to the end of the long line and wait to get it sorted. After a long flight this really isn't needed. "

However, when I returned the car, there was no-one available to finalise the paperwork and I was sent an email receipt for $170.06 ($40 higher than it should have been. I go no response from Avis when I messaged them online. Is there anything you can do about this excess charge? "

" You found a competitive price and communication was clear and frequent. However your supplier (Avis) in my opinion badly let you down in terms of the quality of vehicle and the in my opinion covert upselling at the desk. "

" The car condition was below expectations and approaching 60K miles so the service light was constantly notifying the driver. The carpet was worn and the seats stained. I picked the rental car up early and was upsold into purchasing an extra day - it would be preferable if the Avis representative could consider visitor's journeys, time differences and generally feeling dazed and not try and offer upgrades without stating upfront that there is an extra charge instead of giving in my opinion the 'complementary upgrade' impression. Incidentally I returned the car well before my original date of return so I hope the additional day I was persuaded into accepting was removed from my charges? Difficult to see on the invoice - which could be made clearer for the hirer! Finally, I completed in advance paperwork to facilitate a smooth pick up, but it took an hour of waiting in a queue post 11 h flight to get to the desk to pick the car up. I've never had to wait so long! It was holiday weekend so consider more staff at these fixed dates! "

" We have rented through auto Europe for many years. Always have the best price and are efficient and professional if you have to contact telephone. Websites to use. "

" We had booked an intermediate SUV. On arrival at the car rental centre there was only one car available, an enormous Dodge Durango 8 seater SUV. We had to take that , to drive to our hotel, with advice to return to the following day to change. Returned to find a queue of 15/20 people,with only 1 vehicle available. As we were exchanging the vehicle a very helpful member of staff let us take it ahead of the queue. It did have some small scratches and a dent on the read hatch door. Staff informed us that there was a severe shortage of vehicles and were waiting for vehicles to be returned before they could be issued to waiting customers. "

" 1st of all, the car was filthy inside and out , papers sweet papers inside steering wheel sticky , outside not washed dusty, them my contract was full to full, only quarter full told staff said couldn't do anything bring back empty, had to go looking for petrol station as neede to get on freeway to go distance , as it was midnight had problems , also we collected car at phoenix and drop off lax we had to pay 150 dollars , as the car we got was California registered can't see why we had to pay fee as we took car back to California for them . Not happy at all as my contract has not been kept to .we also had to drive back to phoenix airport as the card they gave us said car was full of petrol I did say to several staff about petrol problem and about car registration, and cleanliness of car or lack of No covid cleanliness at all , and couldn't care less .awful please can you do anything , feel as though I should get refund as they've not kept to the contract thank you "

" The car I initially rented was a Toyota Rav 4 or similar, it turned out to be a Hyundai Santa Fe and was covered in dents and scratches (hence the score of 1) .. I complained to the staff at the car park kiosk and asked if I could change to a Dodge Caravan, after inspection of the 1st vehicle she said no problem at all (so I would now score (10/10). "

" The car we booked was not available, we arrived at 3.00am in the morning and were asked to choose a car from about 100 cars, none being the car we ordered. Sat nav is built into all new cars, so why this is not vailable as part of the renting of the car is poor. We were offered a sat nav from a third party at a cost of £300 which I think is unreasonable. The sat nav did not work and we had to return it, using our mobile phones to navigate. "

There were 6 in our party and when I looked at 6/7 seaters luggage space looked minimal but when I saw large SUVs I probably would have opted for one of those rather than 15 seater van. " I think that Auto Europe should show discretion in which renters it associates with, and hold them to a high standard. I have never received a car with so many miles, which had clearly not been thoroughly checked. The Advantage staff was very professional, but I had to fight for a solution to the battery problem that worked for my family. As a result of the delay caused by the poor condition of the car, I was not able to attend a basketball game I had paid $235 to attend with my family. "

" My car was in good visible condition, but had 47,000 miles on it, and had a faulty battery. It ran well for several days, but then the battery went dead, and the roadside assistance mechanic tested it and found that it had a dead cell. The office wanted me to wait for a tow truck to bring it all the way back to Phoenix from Casa Grande to replace the car. In the end, I got a jumpstart to get to the AutoZone nearby and replace the battery myself. This was then reimbursed at the Advantage office. "

" There was no obvious Europcar desk at the car rental centre. We eventually found that Europcar were represented by Advantage. Advantage had no car in or near the category that we had rented. We were offered the opportunity to upgrade at a cost or to accept a minivan seating 9 people otherwise they said we would forfeit the rental. As we had no choice we accepted the minivan which was enormous and while superficially clean smelled very bad. The checkout staff had no note of damage to the vehicle but upon inspection there were numerous areas of damage to the paintwork. It took over an hour to process the rental. Overall a deeply unsatisfactory experience. "

We were expected at this time and no vehicle allocated! 11 hours in a plane and delays of at least 40 mins wasn't acceptable . Vehicle was eventually found after being quickly cleaned. No checks could be made as it was dark by then. Counter staff attempted to get us to purchase fuel even though we had fuel purchased within policy! Luckily we knew what We'd purchased "

" Booking, collection and drop-off very easy, and Alamo Staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Car was in great condition and ideal for our requirements, with the added bonus of in-built satnav which was a great asset on our trip from Phoenix to LA via the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Death Valley, Yosemite and San Francisco. We paid extra at the counter for breakdown cover as we travelling through some remote areas, which gave us peace of mind but which we thought was expensive for two weeks' cover. Other than that, renting from Alamo was good, the base rental cost was competitive and the unexpected addition of spouse as an extra driver at no cost (new Alamo policy of which we were unaware at time of booking) was a nice surprise and we would certainly use them again. "

" The desk person stated that I would need to pay $180 for coverage to wheels, glass, roof and underside of vehicle. I pointed to the agreement with you and the desk person stated it was wrong as my rental was a Basic rental and pointed to the Box adjacent to your logo in my agreement Ref UK3228284-1 where the term Basic was written. His words ' They are always getting it wrong'. I stated that I would not pay for cover already included and if there was an argument about it later then I would take up the issue with you. There was no problem with the vehicle Jeep Compass from a group that was offered. ( No Ford Escapes available). The car was certainly adequate for my wife and my need. The term Basic requires clarification. "

" They automatically add additional a couple of additional insurance extras without any comment at all. Then invite you to sign several pages on a screen, one of which would commit you to these (in my case, already insured) coverages. They do not call your attention to them, but are somewhat annoyed when challenged and then set about starting the entire transaction from scratch with very bad grace. Most of their vehicles are "hand me downs" from their parent, Hertz, so frequently have over 40,000 miles already. "

" Because of Alamo's mistake I was given a larger car than booked without being made aware of it. As a result the tank of fuel I bought was charged at more than I had been told. The staff handling the car return refused to address this issue (despite the fact that I'd only used 5/8th of a tank so still less than fuel than I'd have bought with a smaller car). This refusal to take any ownership of the issue left a bad impression of Alamo. I"ll avoid them in future. "
