" The car condition was below expectations and approaching 60K miles so the service light was constantly notifying the driver. The carpet was worn and the seats stained. I picked the rental car up early and was upsold into purchasing an extra day - it would be preferable if the Avis representative could consider visitor's journeys, time differences and generally feeling dazed and not try and offer upgrades without stating upfront that there is an extra charge instead of giving in my opinion the 'complementary upgrade' impression. Incidentally I returned the car well before my original date of return so I hope the additional day I was persuaded into accepting was removed from my charges? " We had booked an intermediate SUV. On arrival at the car rental centre there was only one car available, an enormous Dodge Durango 8 seater SUV. We had to take that , to drive to our hotel, with advice to return to the following day to change. Returned to find a queue of 15/20 people,with only 1 vehicle available. " I think that Auto Europe should show discretion in which renters it associates with, and hold them to a high standard. I have never received a car with so many miles, which had clearly not been thoroughly checked. The Advantage staff was very professional, but I had to fight for a solution to the battery problem that worked for my family. As a result of the delay caused by the poor condition of the car, I was not able to attend a basketball game I had paid $235 to attend with my family. "
" My car was in good visible condition, but had 47,000 miles on it, and had a faulty battery. It ran well for several days, but then the battery went dead, and the roadside assistance mechanic tested it and found that it had a dead cell. The office wanted me to wait for a tow truck to bring it all the way back to Phoenix from Casa Grande to replace the car. In the end, I got a jumpstart to get to the AutoZone nearby and replace the battery myself. This was then reimbursed at the Advantage office. "

" There was no obvious Europcar desk at the car rental centre. We eventually found that Europcar were represented by Advantage. Advantage had no car in or near the category that we had rented. We were offered the opportunity to upgrade at a cost or to accept a minivan seating 9 people otherwise they said we would forfeit the rental. As we had no choice we accepted the minivan which was enormous and while superficially clean smelled very bad. The checkout staff had no note of damage to the vehicle but upon inspection there were numerous areas of damage to the paintwork. It took over an hour to process the rental. Overall a deeply unsatisfactory experience. "

Car was in great condition and ideal for our requirements, with the added bonus of in-built satnav which was a great asset on our trip from Phoenix to LA via the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Death Valley, Yosemite and San Francisco. We paid extra at the counter for breakdown cover as we travelling through some remote areas, which gave us peace of mind but which we thought was expensive for two weeks' cover. Other than that, renting from Alamo was good, the base rental cost was competitive and the unexpected addition of spouse as an extra driver at no cost (new Alamo policy of which we were unaware at time of booking) was a nice surprise and we would certainly use them again. I pointed to the agreement with you and the desk person stated it was wrong as my rental was a Basic rental and pointed to the Box adjacent to your logo in my agreement Ref UK3228284-1 where the term Basic was written. His words ' They are always getting it wrong'. I stated that I would not pay for cover already included and if there was an argument about it later then I would take up the issue with you. There was no problem with the vehicle Jeep Compass from a group that was offered. ( No Ford Escapes available). The car was certainly adequate for my wife and my need. The term Basic requires clarification. "
