" The car had engine faults within an hour of us picking in up. It needed to be regularly restarted to clear errors and would then ping up with engine fault every time we tried to climb a hill. It was very stressful and we were not given a way to contact the garage. The children were very worried about the repeated warning signs and it ruined what should have been a lovely day exploring the area. We told the counter staff on returning the car and it seemed that they knew about the error. I showed him photos of the repeated warning messages and asked for some money back. They refused because they said we had booked it through an agent so they did not have any money from us. "

" 'George', the chap at Green Motion who checked us in when we arrived at Preveza on 31 July, explained that we had been 'upgraded', but the vehicle to which we had been 'upgraded' was in fact a Skoda automatic in their 'Mini' class rather than the Hyundai manual we thought that we'd hired, and a 'downgrade' rather than an 'upgrade'. When I challenged this, George told me that our car had been involved earlier that day in a fatal collision and two motorcyclists had been killed and that he was to go to the police/hospital once we'd taken our car. He told us that we could go to Nidra to change the car if we really didn't want it. He also told us that the tank was a quarter full: it was one eighth full. By the time we'd filled up the tank, we didn't want to waste a day of our holiday trying to exchange it, but neither of us like driving automatics, especially in mountainous landscape like Lefkada. When we dropped off the car a week later (with the tank now a quarter full), I inquired after the people who'd been injured/killed in the accident, but the chap at Green Motion didn't know anything about it. I don't want to make any firm allegations about 'George' being economic with the truth, but he lied to us both about the amount of fuel in the tank and whether giving us a car from a lower category of hire was an upgrade, "

When we were arrived we were offered a very small hatchback for 4 people as that is what Auto Europe had booked (Budget Group C hatchback = Hyundai i20. What we had booked was Group C Estate car = Opel Astra or equivalent. Ideally I would like Auto Europe to refund the additional money paiud to rent an estate car when none could be provided. In the words of the Managerr at Budget - "This locaton has never provided estate cars and we have none to rent" "

" My daughter and I had to walk over a main road that did not have a pavement, with suitcases to a yard with a portacabin. We had to wait over an hour and a half as there was only 1 person there to book people in and the lady before me had a lot of questions/problems with her booking. When it came to me booking in, the power went down in the portacabin and so all the info was lost and we had to start again. The actual car was quite beaten up and so I was glad I took a video of the outside and I pointed out scuffs and broken parts as when I dropped off (I arrived at 4:30 and no-one was there - more about that later!) the lady pointed out a broken wheel shield that the man hadn't put on the form. She was going to charge me but I was able to prove it was already there and I had pointed it out. When I arrived to drop the car back the yard was closed. I had to call them and they kept insisting that the office opens at 4pm. It took me a number of times to explain it was actually 4:40pm. Eventually a lady turned up but didn't seem very happy at all to be there - like it was my fault she needed to work! All in all I would not recommend Green Motion at all and I would suggest, to save your reputation, that you are not associated with them. "

" Used Green motion in lefkas before a few times some years ago. Always good, no issues. Then office was inside terminal, but now outside across road, around 5 minutes walk across gravel compound with luggage! Apparently new office been built soon? Car had some damage and reception lady pointed out the damage and marked /took photos herself, as well as us. Only downside was we didn't get copy of the damage report as amended. Car was fine for the week, used every day. Other similar downside was dropping off, she seemed to query one of the original rear bumper damage areas but later confirmed it was on damage report. But didn't get hand over report which should have said all ok, nothing to pay. Even when I went back after dropping our luggage I could only get verbal assurance that nothing to pay and blocked deposit released, I know from experience Green Motion in UK are suspect at claiming damage costs that don't exist, so was wary, but they seem ok in Greece . " I booked green motion car through Auto Europe at Aktion Airport as I needed a drop off at a different location. The depot is a 200m walk along the main road (not too busy)from the airport . When we arrived there was a dispute in the office about the wrong type of car being offered to a family and them being told they could not get a refund! When I eventually got in to the office I was told there was a problem with my reservation as It was 1800 and the booking said collection at 1400? I had email and confirmed my flight number as requested. Anyway after a phone call all was o.k. Dropping off the car at Igoumenitsa port was very difficult as the office is located on main street with no parking spaces close by. Overall the car was fine but I would think twice about booking with Green Motion again from the my experience with collection and drop off. "

" I have always used Auto Europe when booking my hire car but this experience was by far the worst so far. The worst aspect was the poor state of the brake pads which felt as though they were completely worn out when braking. " I experienced appalling service from start to finish. The process to collect the car was highly inefficient. Prior to driving away I was asked to leave a €1,116 deposit. When I was presented with the vehicle it was in very poor condition - with significant dents, bumps and scratches, particularly to the rear door. When I returned the vehicle I was told that a further scratch was visible to the front bumper. I was not involved with any incident which would have caused this, so it must have been done by a 3rd party. I was then made to wait for a long period before being told that I had to pay €410.41 for repairs in order to release my deposit. No valid reason was given for the extortionate cost to carry out repairs and I had no choice but to settle the amount as otherwise they were threatening not to release my deposit and I was in danger of missing the check in for my flight. It all felt like a classic rental con from the 1990s. I would do everything to avoid using them again and now have to undertake burdensome paperwork to seek a reclaim having paid for a Auto Europe Car Hire Full Protection at the time of making the original booking. "

" I had two different experiences with Green Motion. The car I picked up at Preveza airport ( stressed, tired etc) was awful bashed up, in terrible condition, scratched, rusty dreadful. Even the glove compartment was attached with a cable tie! I was too tired to argue. After a few days the car broke down because the the petrol gauge was faulty and at the same time the fan belt seemed to break. This was on a very steep hill as it was getting dark. We were lucky not to crash. It was a horrible, dangerous experience. Luckily a local stopped for us and, not only tried to help but went and got us petrol and brought it back. He was amazing. we then contacted Camilla at the Green Motion office in Nidri who was with us in 20 minutes, guided us back down the hill ( with the help of our saviour's petrol ) back to the Nidri office. She got us another, better car and was hugely helpful, kind and efficient. She was great. She should work for another firm. The staff at Preveza airport were hopeless. I would NEVER use Green Motion again. Not only was it a terrible car but it actually put us in physical danger. The fact that you recommend them means we can't recommend you either. "

" Several very serious issues need to be flagged up:- 1. Green Motion took the 806 Euro excess charge as an actual up-front payment and then refunded it at the end (although they SAID they would merely block it onto the card - and others had the same experience). This could cause problems for anyone, like myself, who will have to pay the credit card bill before the refund arrives. 2. The refund of 806 Euro actually has yet to arrive in my account (processed on the evening of Wednesday 2 Sept, now Sat 5th Sept, still watching for it). 3. The Green Motion Office is NOT on the airport, despite their claim that they are there. Their office is now located outside the airport compound and across the road. There were no signs for where to go, and nobody to meet us. We wandered round for a bit, and then luckily one of the other car-hire offices was able to give us directions. We were not the only ones trying to find them! 4. The office was locked when we came to return the vehicle. No contact details provided, and no indication of when staff might be expected. Staff arrived late, with no apology for the distress or inconvenience caused!! We were not the only people waiting to return their car that evening! 5. They were, however, very keen on price, and the car was in fair condition, so it did work out ok in the end. "

" I have been hiring cars for many years. Compact category usually includes cars of 1400 cc as minimum. Anything less than 1400 is Economy. I booked with GM through Autoeurope twice since May. In both cases they offered me a car of approx 1200 cc. This is misleading. You should make absolutely clear in your website the size of the car so you don't mislead your customers. We were subject to attempted fraud (repeated to the customer after us) by which the Green Motion staff fakes an incorrect PIN for the credit card and then tries to sell insurance at £11/day. We busted this fraud by calling my bank. We were then given a vehicle not matching the registration on our paperwork. We were not able to inspect the vehicle and were treated with utmost contempt by the Green Motion staff. The whole ordeal delayed us by several hours, getting to our accommodation at 1am! "

" Charged for late night collection, which I am sure was included in original payment - our flight numbers and times were clearly quoted.. Given a different vehicle from what was ordered. Given a vehicle which ran out of fuel after 23 kilometres at 01.30 hrs ( no petrol stations open DESPITE being told there was a petrol station open 10 kms down the road from airport, there was but of course it was closed. ) At about 02.30 Lekas traffic police arrived to help out. They tried all the numbers on the rental agreement - no reply. They had to arrange a can to get fuel at late-night pump in Lygia 3 kms further on. Finally arrived at our property in syvota at about 03.45 ( 05.45 UK time ) very tired and unhappy "

The staff we surly and argumentative with everyone not just me. they wrote the wrong fuel level down for the initial hire which i only noticed after i filled up the tank ready to go back and i checked the photo of the level i had taken. " Scammers told me car was fine then found a mystery dent under the car when I brought it back. Walked straight up to the where it was then looked under the car and said, oh this wasn't here before, boom hit me with a €250 damage fee. The are crooks. I spoke to 3 other drivers waiting for the same plane as me that had been hit up for damage to their cars they knew nothing about. Only one was let off everyone else was forced to pay. "

" Terrible experience, very unhappy and will not be using Green Motion again. We made our reservation in advance and was told initially that the reservation may take a couple of days to be processed, then received an email saying our reservation had been accepted and all was fine. Arrived at the Green Motion desk after our flight then to be told that we would have to pay an extra 210 euros because the email was in my name and the credit card we used was my girlfriend's. We said this it is fine to name my girlfriend as the main driver and would also pay the additional driver cost if it helps as we only had my girlfriend's credit card. They said it was not possible and the only way to continue our booking was to pay 210 euros. Our entire original booking was only 150 euros! Find this unbelievable. How can you accept my reservation after 2 days of processing to then tell us at the arrival desk that the only way the reservation is valid is to pay an extra cost that more than DOUBLES the cost of the original booking? I expressed my dissatisfaction and requested to cancel the booking, to be told cancellations must be done 48 hours before arrival. This borders on blackmail. Obviously we had just arrived in Greece and would be stuck without a car. I am appalled at this level of customer service, your company obviously does not rely on repeat service. I will be sharing my review online. "

" I decided to up grade the car when booking, the car we was given was an old Nissan Note, which was dirty, part of the rear brake light was missing, the boot made an awful noise when opening we couldn't properly check the car as all the lights went out in the airport and there was no fuel in the car, as we landed late we was directed to the nearest petrol stations which were closed and I am sure the staff knew that hence why it was empty so in the pitch black in an area we didn't know we had to find a petrol station! "

" We very rarely hire a car abroad because there is always some problem. Our recent experience has merely confirmed that view. We spent an hour trying to sort things out with Budget when returning the car. It took the edge off our holiday. "

Luckily i had the receipt from autoeurope showing how much i had paid them and they mustn't have passed the full amount on. " picking up the car no problem how ever the radio cd and clock did not work there was a info code on computer saying tyre pressure check but they were ok .The problem or more import was on return of the car to the enterprise desk at airport , we arrived there to hand over at 9 am and waited until 10 45 am and still no one there to check and take car off hire , by then are flight had been called so I had no alterative but leave the car with green motion desk . They also tried very,very hard to find something wrong with the car to a point of being offensive. The cost of the hire for the car was very good, the rest was to say the least awful! Returning the car in what I am sure WAS in the same condition I was hit with a bill for a small scratch under the offside front bumper. Cost with tax £154!! I do feel this is a bit of a con by your local agent. I DON'T THINK THEY LIKED IT THAT I HAD INDEPENDENT COVER FOR ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO SELL ME A POLICY.I had the feeling they were determined to find something wrong!! The manager was very quick to point out that it wouldn't have been a problem if i'd taken out their insurance cover. Other than that the arrangements worked fine "
