" I have used autoeurope previously with no issues, but on this occasion we were not very happy with the experience. Maybe there needs to be some better communication between autoeurope and the actual car company so that everything is clear - all terms are communicated and any extra information/ requirements are made available prior. " I place no blame on the counter-staff as they are only doing as instructed but we were told on arrival that we would need to pay an additional fee of €120 as my husband was classified as a junior driver. He is50 and has had a license since he was 17 but as the Australian licence only shows the current renewal they were insisting it should be paid. I asked them to show me where it was in the t&c's but I could not see where it was clearly defined, nor had the terms been sent to us ( from clickrent). As we were tired and desperate to get on with our journey we agreed to pay it even though we indicated that we were not happy nor that should have to pay. " What a disaster! We had not been advised about any one-way fees - at the desk in Santiago Centuaro demanded that we pay a €190 one way fee (and the staff were quite rude). Then when we went to the car, it was only 3/4 full of gasoline, despite having contracted it as full. After arguing and showing the staff the car fuel guage, they reluctantly adjusted the contract to show it was 3/4 full on pick up. Of course it was very difficult to estimate 3/4 full on return and ended up returning it nearly full. About 20 kilometers from pick-up a warning light came on on the dashboard (I don't know the name for it in English). We called Centauro Roadside assistance, who told u to drive on, on the basis it was orange not red. However the car suffered from a significant loss of power - we could hardly get up hills and nearly got stuck in a parking garage as the car nearly couldn't get up a ramp (after 4 attempts, we had to take everything out, all passengers had to get out and do a running start to get out). This was not good as we drove from one end of Spain to the other. The staff at Malaga upon drop off were very disinterested; they didn't refund us extra for the additional fuel we bought the car back with and showed no interest in the mechanical fault of the car, let alone make an apology and offer compensation. The whole experience was terrible. "

" 1. Upon arrival no one was waiting to collect us and eventually after 25 mins we phoned them and the mini bus arrived in 10 mins. 2. Not sufficient personal to deal promptly with customers picking up and dropping off car in their offices outside the airport. Other customer were complaining insurance cover and delayed everyone on pick up. We paid extra cover for road assistance as was not included on our 21 days car hire. Also not happy there is a 2000Km limit and it is the same limit hiring for 3 days or 3 weeks, should be extended for longer than 1 week hire in my opinion. 3. Returning our vehicle we were surprised they found a mark almost invisible to the naked eye and I had had to pay 50€ for them to polish it. It took a long time to agree and we paid under protest/duress as we otherwise miss our flight back home. "

" Not made clear that I am dealing with a sub company who uses others for their bookings ie Thrifty using Hertz who claim they are not passed any information apart from name and class of car but any other payments like insurance extras are not with Hertz but only with Thrifty. Not easy to understand how this would have affected me had I had an accident or any damage to the car which thankfully there were none. "

" Did not have car as my error that put wrong flight time but told you only keep this for an hour. Flight was delayed so even though my initial error, unlikely you would have kept it. Only positive was at least we got a lift back to the airport rather than being told we should get taxi. Phoned to explain what had happened and told would get a refund in 8 days but still waiting for this after 11 working days so will need to ring you. Whole experience was horrendous although I obviously am at fault for putting wrong flight time down. An hour over is ridiculously small amount of time to give people. Also we were told that I had put down midnight instead of midday but I hadn't though by this time it didn't matter anyway. "
