I was sent by email a very long list of scratches and dents which we proceeded to check as best as we could. When I told the clerk about it, he was not bothered to come and check the list with me. When I retuned the car, it was It was to a very well lot space. The return clerk had a tablet with a graphic display of the dents and marks and found two that he said did not match up with the long list., I my view these matched what I had ascertained from the list. I have already emailed Sixt that I saw the whole return process as a scam to defraud insurers and customers and asking why a vehicle with well over 20,000 miles on the clock was rented in such a condition when presumably they had already charged previous customers for repairs not carried out. I have used you for many years now BUT this time was bad. 1) The booking (after 3 tries) did not allow the one way rental to show. 2)After a phone call it was suggested we talk to the desk when we arrive - the person on the phone was not prepared to help. 3) This was after numerous emails to try and rectify the matter beforehand. 4)Arriving at the desk the insurance was not included as requested at the time (I always do full insurance with no access). I had to pay £78 plus vat more to be insured. If I had known that the insurance was not booked by autoeurope as I expected I might not have used you on this occasion. 5) I also had to pay the one-way cost of £50(ish) which at the time of booking with autoeurope was said to be included already. So in the end it cost me about double the cost to rent the car. And I had to make the decision on the spot (being surprised) - that was not enjoyable. Can you please look into the matter for me. " 1) The staff when picking up the car was excellent. 2) I had made a reservation for a compact SVU (my preferred car), and was allocated a theoretically higher category car (Skoda Octavia), much longer and not as high as compact SUV. I took it because cars in Edinburgh in those dates are scarce. But, even if the car was higher category, it was not my preferred choice. 3) The car had a superficial scratch (5 to 10 cm on front bumper, driver part) done while I was driving it (it already had 9 registered when I was given the car; no big deal). The SIXT personnel overstated the damage and its potential financial consequences. When I told them that I had contracted EXCESS GUARANTEE with AutoEurope, they unkindly suggested to directly contract with SIXT in the future, so to avoid 'paperwork hassle'. That was not that type of advice I wanted at that moment. BTW: Eight days after the end of the rental, and after having received the final invoice with pending payment= 0, I have not yet received any news on the damage and how to proceed with it. "

" I made a booking for a 10am rental car pickup when it wasn't at that stage entirely clear when I was arriving in Bristol. I arrived in the end at about 4pm but was advised that because I hadn't picked up my car within one hour of 10am the car had been 'given away' and I needed to rent a new car at - guess what - a higher price from the one I'd originally booked. I reluctantly agreed, only for the next hurdle: Sixt needed to contact the DVLA for details about my UK licence. But the DVLA phone lines were closed, so we tried three times online, but each attempt failed. The Sixt employee told me then that he couldn't rent me the car because they couldn't verify my licence details with the DVLA. To his credit, he did go to Europcar for me to check that they had a car, which they did (they don't insist on licence checks), so I ended up renting a whole new car from Europcar and am still owed money by Sixt. My husband has also had increasing issues renting from Sixt and we are very unlikely to rent from them again. Cowboys and rip-off merchants. "

Also I had paid for the excess waiver which Sixt did not accept.. said I would have to pay them and reclaim from Auto Europe if there was a claim.. luckily there wasn't. " Three times we've hired a car with SIXT and three times after the correct return of the car we've had additional charges appear on our bank account. The first time we were charged about £170 for additional insurance for which we got a refund after making a complaint. The second time we were charged for late return of the car when it was returned on time (we were able to prove this because we kept the return parking ticket) and again we received a refund after complaining. And for this last car hire we were charged an extra £23.99 for nothing..we complaining and got no reply and eventually our bank refunded the money. It would seem that SIXT have a deliberate policy of applying additional charges to customer accounts after the car has been returned and I imagine that most customers either don't notice or don't complain. This situation is quite outrageous and we won't ever hire a car from this company again. I would be grateful if you could look in this situation it is not acceptable. "

" We called Auto Europe support to cancel the Sixt rental, but got a response that it is not possible to cancel or refund - even with the Late Cancellation Refund Program that we chose to pay for at the booking. The explanation was that we had a "no-show" and the Late Cancellation Refund Program does not cover that. "
" Apparently Sixt at Stansted airport closes at 4pm even on workdays and we couldnt get there in time as there were long queues at passport check and also waited for rental shuttle for more than 30 minutes. " Prior to our trip I had some contact with Christina who is based in Portugal and was very helpful and clear. Unfortunately Auto experience did not provide a good service on the day. 1) the address for the Car pick up on the AE documents was Waverley Train Station, 1 Princes St. This is not where the Sixt rental is located. We spent 45 mins in the pouring rain walking around the station and surrounding area trying to find the car rental depot. We tried 1 Princes St - but its not there so we tried the train station and asked a station supervisor. He directed us to the Car Rental signs in the station. We followed them out of the main concourse and into an underground car park some distance away. Sadly, tt turned out at was the car rental depot of 4 other car hire companies but not Sixt. We went back to the station and called Auto Europe and asked for help and directions. The man on the phone put us through to a Sixt automatic number but there was no option to obtain the address. At this stage we were soaking wet and running late for our next destination. Finally we managed to do google search on Sixt and found an address away from the station in another direction. 2) when we got to Sixt, Eva kinky explained that Auto Europe had not forwarded my email address or telephone number to Sixt so Sixt had not been able to send through the details about their location etc. 3) Sixt then told us that due to the lack of info from Auto Europe they did not have the car that we had booked available to hire. This was very worrying 4.) The manager at Sixt took the initiative and gave us a free upgrade to a car that he did have available (nice chap with an Irish accent if you wish to identify and thank him). 5) By this stage the booking information for my husband as an additional driver had timed out and he had had to go back to our hotel to check our and collect our two teenagers so we had to pause our car rental so that he could return with his driving licence. 6)we went back to the hotel and checked out and returned to the Sixt office to go through all the paperwork for the second time 7.) when we finally got the car, which we realise was not Sixt fault we were pleased with the car we received and the return arrangements. The staff at Sixt were all helpful and pleasant to deal with. Please can you let us know what happened with this booking? At present, I think we would not book with Auto Europe again but would with Sixt. "

At return there was no one to acknowledge the car return in 'as received' condition with NO damage When seeing a Sixt uniformed employee I asked him to accept the car return with a receipt. He refused saying just leave the key in the unoccupied open office. When asking him to visually check he just glazed at it and said OK. I asked his name which he refused to supply. Saying he did not work for Sixt. I therefore included an image on my phone with those of the car wheels and some other arers. He objected to this strongly and became offensive saying I had no wright to photograph him. As an employee and representative I advised him he was responsible for all customer service so he should be more helpful. He then walked away. There is a note on the return document sent by email which says a stone chip was on the wind screen as surface damage. This is not correct as I have images showing the area is flawless. "

Then we were offered, with progressive lack of enthusiasm, a VW Polo (we agreed an error - mix up with another customer), then some sort of Kia hot hatch. You'll love it, she said. I wont, I said, which is why I ordered Skoda Octavia in the first place. Her efforts to tell me that they were very similar were risible. She 'explained' that the contract said 'or similar'. I pointed to a Skoda Octavia out the front and said, you mean like that? Yes, she said, but thats just come in and not cleaned. And anyway, its an automatic (no problem) and a hybrid (no problem). I said, that'll do fine, just clean the interior. Once she found the yard chap and a few exchanges he eventually set about the clean. Including a lengthy exterior clean. We were now about an hour in. Next up. Did you know that your 'contract' means you have £1200 excess? No, because the figure was not given. We can indemnify you for that for an extra £45 a day. No. Or our lowest protection £22 a day. Times 8 days. = £176 extra on a £350 'deal'. This is robbery. And mis-direction at the initial booking stage. We felt mugged. Finally, the car arrives, wet and gleaming. No hand over. Never driven a hybrid before worked it out. Not that that mattered - it had 0% charge and remained on that for the next 8 days so it was all pretty pointless, though interesting just the same. All in all, a shambles. We got there in the end and by pure chance (me glancing out the window) to a resolution that was eventually quite satisfactory. It hats be said the return collection handling was, after an unclear start about who, what , where was first class. She even gave us a lift into Inv airport and was very cheerful and helpful re buses etc. "

" The queue at Heathrow was very long. It took me longer in the Sixt queue, than to get from the airplane through passport control and to get my luggage. The wait in the queue was close to 1 hour. Also it took around 15 minutes to actually get the keys to the car. The car was quite dirty. The windscreen was covered in insect smears. The car itself was good. The drop-off went smoothly, except that I got a call the next day from Sixt at Heathrow asking me when I planned to drop the car off as I was due to drop it off the previous night (which I had done). Overall, the waiting times and service at the airport was not good. The dirty windscreen and car interior created a bad initial impression too. "

" Both Sixt and myself found your hire terms and conditions, especially the Insurance aspect, totally confusing and self-contradictory. I don't think either of us are any the wiser now as to whether I was actually insured by you! You admonish your customers to check with Sixt if you wished to reduce the deductible/excess amount from £1,000 to £0. You must know that to do so is impossible - they use totally different underwriters from yourselves so they have no power to modify any policy you put in place. One has to buy a completely different policy from them, the cost of which amounts to roughly the same as what you charged for the hire! Also your contract does not break out the insurance portion of the total hire cost never mind break it down into third party, fire and theft charges, comprehensive cover charges and wheels, interiors and underside insurance. Plus, agreeing to pay UPTO £3,000 excess to your client in the event of a complete write-off is ludicrous, given a brand new vehicle with only 920 miles on the clock?! Such 'coverage' is pretty much worthless, so why bother offering it in the first place? You also levy a mysterious "airport surcharge" of 20%. If you are referring to the Air Passenger Duty levy, that is inapplicable at Inverness Airport since it enjoys an exemption from that tax. I believe you should therefore immediately refund that part of your charge to me. In view of the above, I think it highly unlikely that I would ever sue you again for my car hire. "

" Auto Europe does not make the SIXT depot at Terminal 5 available on their web site and only allows collection/drop off at the main location. The main SIXT depot does not supply onward transport to Terminal 5 so if your flight is from T5 you have to go to T4 with your bags and take the train to T5, all a bit tedious. Fortunately the counter agent at the main depot changed my booking to allow drop off at the T5 depot. The opposite is true for arrivals at T5 as there is no transport to the main depot so you have to take the train to one of the other terminals to catch the shuttle bus to the main depot. Auto Europe must be losing business as the only way around this issue is to book direct with SIXT. "

" Staff was not faithful. Sixt intentionally added premium service/coverage fee (298 GBP) without informing us and forced us to pay this premium. I just found out that I was charged extra when I received the receipt via e-mail four days after I returned the car. At the Sixt Heathrow Terminal 2 Branch, I said clearly many times that I didn't want any extra service so I naturally didn't think that Sixt staff would dare to add anything into the contract document without confirming me. Sixt charged this fee without my consent and when I tried to argue that this was not right, Sixt told me that it was my fault for not checking rental contract carefully. I totally didn't expect that the contract would contain the extra fee that I repeatedly confirm with the staff that I didn't want extra service and I was totally satisfied with the coverage of the package I bought from the Auto Europe website prior to pick up the car at Sixt. The refusal of the extra charge e-mail I have sent to Sixt keeps never ending since Sixt has no respect to customer's honor that I have never asked for the extra service/coverage and Sixt has tried so hard to keep the charge. One more thing, you need to be extremely careful to check every detail of existing scratch and to compare against the damage list that are listed in the document when you pickup the car since no staff will explain and go through with you to ensure that you and he have the same agreement/understanding on the existing damages. On the contrary, when you return the car, Sixt staff will check the car in every detail, inch by inch, and always find the new scratch that is not caused by you, but he will force you to sign the acceptance of the scratch. He will not listen to anything that you try to explain. It is useless and completely waste of time. Until finally you give up the argument and need to sign the paper because otherwise you will miss the flight if you still be there. If anyone would like to use Sixt service, please be extremely careful in everything or you will not have peace of mind. "

But at the end was a good experience and the car provided by Sixt was good. " I had no issues with the Auto Europe portion of my reservation, but I have yet to receive the paperwork from Sixt so that I can file a claim for the excess cover. How that process goes may change my review. "
" The counter staff did not have my vehicle ready (I was about an hour early) and so offered me a lesser vehicle at the same rate, or an upgrade. I know it was a sales tactic but I was exhausted after a long flight so I went ahead and took the upgrade. Then during my rental, I experienced a flat tire. I found out the hard way that there was no spare, no jack, and no sealant in the trunk. I was in a precarious position in a layby on a narrow road and it took Sixt THREE HOURS to even find someone to come to the site, plus the additional time of vehicle recovery and tire replacement. The B&B I stayed at that night said it was not the first time they had customers with such issues with Sixt. Then I was never provided a final invoice, only charged days after rental, and have had to request it so that I can file a claim for the excess cover. "

So far I have not had any problem, but I have to say I am not in a position to say Autoeurope is perfect because I am lucky that I haven't had any accident therefore have not yet tested its post-accident service or cover claims. If there is one thing Autoeurope can improve, that is to include T5 as one of the choices of pick-up locations in Heathrow. "
" The location of car pick-up was very good because we arrived Heathrow T5 on BA, therefore we simply walked to SIXT. However, there were 2 problems. SIXT at T5 only opens at 6am; so we had to wait for nearly an hour because we arrived on a very early flight. Secondly, We could not select T5 as pick-up location in Autoeurope website (only T1, T2, T3 & T4 available, meaning taking the shuttle to SIXT large off-site pick-up location), so the car we booked was not available. Luckily, SIXT staff was very helpful and managed to give me a car of the same group. All-in-all, this SIXT experience was good. And this was my third time renting a car from SIXT at Heathrow T5. "

" Signage to the Sixt desk at LHR Terminal 5 was poor - it's in the Sofitel building and a longer-than-you'd-like trek from arrivals. There was only one person (Mr khan) at the desk and although he coped well, the wait wasn't welcome after 15 hours travelling. It turned out that my voucher was not for their branch (down to AutoRentals) but he sorted it out with a minimum of fuss, judged my mood accurately and resisted the temptation to try selling me an upgrade and put me in a nice new Renault Clio. Full marks to him for intelligent customer service. The pickup point is another tiresome walk but once there it was done without fuss. Be prepared to take pictures and or a video (in a poorly lit underground car park) to confirm the condition of your car because, unlike most, they don't offer you a marked up sheet to record any existing damage. I had AutoRentals insurance to cover any excess in the event of damage during my rental, but this way of working is not professional and causes stress if you haven't. The car was excellent, barring the lack of an owner's manual and drop off was simple and quick. The two marks off are down to the accessibility of this branch and the lack of paperwork to record the condition of the vehicle. "

When I arrived to collect the car it turned out it was still being cleaned and didn't get the car till 9:00! Had to wait for it for ages. The drop off was even worse. It was scheduled for 8:30 am. They charged this, because they written in their documents that I dropped off the car at 9:30 instead of 8:30 and charged for 1 extra rental day, which is a complete lie, because by 9:20 I was already at work! I have many ways to proof that, so if those crooks won't kindly return my £100 I'll take this case to the court "

After booking the car with SIXT, Auto Europe told me that my flight information was missing, even though I had entered it during the booking. I telephoned you and gave the information. I was arriving with BA at terminal 5. You told me that I would have to get the shuttle to terminal 4, then the Sixt bus to the car hire facility. This is disgracefully wrong. First – it's NOT a shuttle, it's a public bus. Second – THERE IS A SIXT FACILITY IN THE SOFITEL BESIDE TERMINAL 5. Waiting for the public bus, then for the SIXT bus, then driving all the way back to West of the airport from T4, back to where I started at T5, cost me an hour. I was driving to Devon, and did not need this delay. On my previous trip, on the 27th June to Luton, Auto Europe told me that the bus number A will stop at stand D. This is WRONG, and it nearly cost me a lot of time. I also posted this complaint, but you never replied. I shall not use your company again. "

" I paid more for an Automatic and a particular type of car and after waiting for 25 minutes to be served I went through all the rental procedure before being taken out to a car that was far too big a saloon car which was completely inappropriate for my needs and would have been expensive to run for one person and when I refused this car was told it was the only Auto that they had, I was then told I would have to take a Manual and again quite a big SUV as they had nothing more compact and to top it all I was told I would not get the car offered at a reduced rate and felt that I was being treated very unfairly by a staff team that had my reservation in advanceu and should have been aware of my gender and my age and realised that what they were offering me compared to what I haud chosen to rent was completely inappropriate and should have informed me in advance and offered me a refund so that I could have had time to rent elsewhere or at least given me a reduction on the original price paid instead of this they wanted to charge me more for a smaller car and so I had a much more uncomfortable journey and feel like I was badly let down and would never rent from you again. "

" not too sure who best to book through - direct with a dealer of companies like Auto Europe, if i listen to James in SIXT, he tells me 3rd parties polices are not worth the paper they are written and if you claim from a 3rd party, the process is far, far longer then going direct - so would like clarity on this if possible please? " Car i requested wasn't ready, the guy on the desk (James) was pushing SIXT insurances on me, i told him I took the additional insurance AUTO Europe - he said they are not valid, which i disagreed with, the security deposit they wanted was different to what was on my policy - mine said 300 they wanted 500 - i tried to call Auto to clarify so they changed to 300. when i got my car, i set off and after 30 mins the tyre warning light came on - so i had to drive slow until i reached a service station - i managed to pump the tyre up thinking it would be fine but NO - I had to stop another 3 times to keep pumping the tyre up - its took me 4 1/2 hours to get home which should have been a 2 hour journey. The following morning, i had to be up and out and the same tyre was completely flat! I called the SIXT hotline and they had to send a repair guy out to replace the tyre and that whole process from making the call to been able to drive the car took 2 hours of my limited time. "

" The only problem was they rated a Citroen C4/Vauxhall Zafira and a Kia Sportage the same as an Insignia. They aren't. They are all totally different types of vehicle. If I'd wanted a people carrier or whatever the Sportage is classed as, then I'd have booked one. I wanted a large saloon, that's what I ordered and I didn't get one. "

" I was looking for a company within terminal 5 as I had a tight turnaround and did not want to spend time on shuttles etc. Although the website/Google said there was a desk in T5, when I received the booking confirmation from Auto Europe it was booked for terminals 2,3 and 4. I emailed to clarify and was told there was no desk in T5 and I would have to go to T2,3,4 to pick up the car. I had paid a lot more than other companies for the convenience of a quick pickup so this was frustrating and made me worry that I would have enough time. On arrival at T5 I called Sixt and was informed that there was indeed a desk in T5. I picked up a car from there; the desk was very efficient and the Spanish-speaking clerk was faultless. On pickup I was not shown anything about how the car works and wasted 20minutes setting up the satnav. The attendant knew less about it than me and I eventually sorted it myself but this made me late and further annoyed. The car itself was great, clean and new. Drop off would have been easy except that the text was confusing so I ended up at the T2,34 Drop off. The system needs to be improved to recognise where a customer has picked up their car and send them the text with the appropriate postcode. I thought the desk efficiency and physical dropoff and the car itself were great, but the booking and communication systems and the explanation of the car's basic functions at pickup need improving, especially for the high price charged. "

But when I asked for the proof of reimbursement, they told me it was not possible to process it now, that I had to wait for an entire week and then if nothing has been done, contact them again. " First off when I called the number on my booking to say that I would a little late as immigration took a little longer than expected I was kept on hold for a long long time I hung up the phone after around 10 minutes without talking to anyone...imagaine the cost of making an international call just to listen to a recording...then when I went to pick the car from Sixt I thought everything would be smooth as the car I booked was supposed to be a car for a family of five with enough boot space to accommodate one large bag and two medium bags...according to my booking receipt...however when I turned up at the Sixt counter the car I was given could not even accommodate two bags...I had to run to the counter and back to the parking lot and back to the counter at least 4 times to get the car changed...we tried 3 cars before managing to get the bags into a car...for which I had to pay an additional cost as the vehicle was 'not in the category I booked'. Imagine paying in excess of GBP 200 for no fault of mine...all this after an eight hour flight with three kids all below 7yrs...I tried calling the number on the booking but no one answered..when I spoke to the Sixt counter staff they bluntly told me that I should take it up with Auto Europe and there was nothing they could do....they said that since I booked the car through a third party they could not help me...why should I have to pay the amount I need someone to get back to me on this...this is outrageous...I booked the car for GBP 350 odd and I ended up paying GBP 800 odd...all for no fault of mine...truly disgusted "

As it was late I didn't have the motivation to haggle too much and in the end took a car from a higher class for the booked price that suited what I needed it for. If they don't have those then I would expect to be offered the Audi A3 or BMW 1-series and not be offered a VW Polo as being in the same class. " Car was in good condition but not perfectly cleaned. I was apprehensive about the long list of defects (scratches etc) which were identified in a typed list in the documents. It took about 15 minutes to find them since some were incredibly trivial and I wondered how pedantic SIXT would be when I returned it - I'm sure there would have been other scratches if I had looked deeply. However, on return it was checked and no issues were raised. "
" Two issues. I was persuaded to take a higher spec car which I was told was an extra "ten pounds a day" which would have been 170 pounds extra. I was not permitted to pay the extra when I returned the car and I only found out when I returned home that the cost was 204 pounds. Not enough to do anything about but not quite what was promised. Second issue was that there was no manual in the car which had many features which were new to me. I was told SIXT do not provide manuals "because people steal them". My experience with other companies is that there is a manual provided. "

Not a good surprise when you are 5 in the car for 10 days of holidays... Considering the price paid, I would have expected an honest service To be provided by autoeurope...
