" The car I was given was almost a wreck. Every panel was scratched and dented. Bumper fixings were disconnected. All wheels were very scuffed. Exhaust was noisy. If I had not been in a hurry to get to my destination as I was running late I would have asked for a different car. When I complained about the condition of the car I was asked if I had taken photos and when I said yes, the staff member was no longer interested. When returning the car I complained again and was told, "Well, its a hire car (what do you expect)" This car should not have been offered to anyone. I refused to walk back and had to wait for half half an hour in the heat with no offer of a drink until the problem was resolved. Never again. "

" Easy pick up from La Palma airport as they have a desk right by the baggage reclaim in arrivals. We got upgraded, which was nice, and the car (Dacia Sandero Stepway) was ideal for our needs. I think they were quite busy as the car hadn't been cleaned before we took it, but that didn't worry us as it wasn't overly dirty. Return experience was even easier as a TopCar member of staff was in the car park when we returned and he just took the key from us after enquiring whether we had experienced any issues. " The staff are friendly and speedy in their service, however, if you have taken insurance separately and not with Top Car, you have to pay a deposit insurance excess of 900 Euros (refundable on return). When you collect the car they do not walk round with you to check the vehicle, instead you have to sign the paperwork, are handed the keys before being directed to the car lot to pick up your car. We landed late at night, so although we were given directions, it was a while before we could locate the car. Further, you are told to take pictures of the vehicle before you leave but the car lot is poorly lit. Upon return, you park the car at the same car lot in any available bay in the Top Car section. It is important to note that staff do not come out to check car with you and say they will contact you after you return home if there are any problems. It is best to take the car to Car Rental area 2 where there is a designated 'return car' section in the basement level, where a Top Car representative will check the car over and then stamp your invoice to say the deposit refund will be processed in a few days. It is worth the time to do this to ensure you do not have any hassles after you return home. "

" Top car are on the top floor of the Lanzarote airport car park, the car was okay. Citroen C3 been through the wars, though many marks and dents, but perfectly adequate. Only issue was no washer water, prove a problem, but easily sorted would've thought it was something they would've checked, but looking at the dust under the bonnet, I don't think ever checked. The best thing about top car, if you don't have to negotiate the very narrow car park exit entrance that you do with many of the other hire companies, it's easy to drive out easy to drive in a much better place.to get to the departures entrance. " Car pick up and drop off was very easy. I was offered the additional insurance, which I took for the first time ever, but £120 for 14 days seemed reasonable given that it was an expensive car. When I dropped off the car, the lady at reception said that there was no need to check as I had paid for the additional insurance - albeit there were no bumps or scrapes. I was in Seville in July for 2 weeks and had to pay a compulsory extra £400 for insurance which I wasn't happy about. The car was no where as near as the DS Hybrid (a French Citreon / Peugeot combo). Would use this company again. "

When we arrived in Gran Canaria, Top Car informed us that the seats were not included in the booking and would be £60 each for the 6 days. So we paid for seat twice. Clearly this is unacceptable and we would like a refund from Auto Europe for the £50 paid for Child seats. "

" Very easy takeover and hand back. However vehicle has broken rear wiper, dent in rear bumper and several scratches which were difficult to identify in a dark poorly lit garage. Slightly unnerving as you do not know if the company is going to be relaxed re this sort of damage or make an issue of it subsequently. Top Car were mega relaxed and so it was not an issue ...but just to make you aware. "

" The vehicle was present in a por state with both front seat badly stained and a front passenger door that contacted the front wing when it was opened which made it difficult to open fully. The paper work presented at the bigining of the rental did not show any of the damage that was on the vehicle at collection and when I approach a member of the TopCar staff about this they just said to photograph the the damage. It should not be up to a customer recording damage on a vehicle at the point of pick-up. When the vehicle was returned, a member of the TopCar staff inspected the rental vehicle as expected however, we were told no paper work is given to the customer to confirm the vehicle had been checked , but told that the deposit would be returned within 24 hours. It has now been 4 days and I am yet to see the deposit returned to my credit card. All in all I have had better from other rental car companies. "

On reaching the car, it was clear the paperwork did not match up with the condition of the car, so much so that I wrote an email with photos attached to Top Car head office to highlight the dents and scratches all over it. At the resorts, I noticed lots of Top Car rentals and none appeared to be in as bad a condition as my car which was curious. I was told it was a problem with the key, and I could come to the airport and replace it with the spare one. When I went they couldn't find the key, so offered me a replacement car. Second car fine, but no-one in the garage when I returned it, so I had to take the key back to the office. "

" Only issue was deposit. I paid £613 but got back £573 so your fees for taking the deposit were about £40. Way too much and borderline dishonest - effectively the fee you charge for just taking the deposit is over twice the fee for the insurance excess or close to 20% excess on you hire fees. Hence poor value for money score. "
