If you're planning that trip of a life time, a real experience to tell the grandkids about then book Australia. 'Australia' I hear you cry? Yes it's a 24 hour flight and when you're there they just tease us Brits about the cricket; however I can personally assure you it is well worth the trip! When I first landed into Sydney Airport my first task after the long flight was to collect my hire car and find my hotel. As the Kingsford Smith Airport is only roughly a 25 minute drive into the city centre it was a quick and easy journey. In Sydney the best place to base yourself is close to the harbour, that way you can easily drive your car hire to the famous Bondi beach, situated in the eastern suburbs. Head north with your Sydney car hire where you can stop by the popular tourist spot of Manly or drive just a little further to the gorgeous beaches of Avalon.
Sydney city centre itself has enough to keep you entertained for a few days. If you have time book yourself a show at the Opera House or you can enjoy a drink by the harbour's edge at the Opera Bar. For those of you who are a little daring why not try a bridge climb. I did a climb at night, to see the city at night with its bright lights was truly amazing! Another place you must visit is Taragona Zoo. From the harbour you can catch a ferry to the zoo, and when you arrive you have a short cable ride that gives you great views across the harbour waters.I could go on and on about the beauty of Sydney as that is where I spent most of my time, but a quick mention on my number two favourite place in Australia; The Goldcoast. Situated along the coastline of Queensland this little gem is everything you would accept an Australian beachside resort to be and more! It is not exactly a quiet place to visit, as it's a tourist haven for the Australians as well as people from all over the world. The most popular beach is at Surfers Paradise where you can watch the local surf competitions or join in a game of beach volley ball. The busy town centre has some great tourist souvenir shops, bars and cafes.
Another city worth a visit is Melbourne. The beautiful city centre mixes in well-kept all buildings with the modern day sky scrapers and most of the roads are lined with trees, plus it has to be Australia's number one spot for shopping and the cafe bar culture. Within the city you will find lots of small lanes with fashionably hip cafe bars. Australia is a huge country with many great places worth a visit and with a car hire in Australia you get to choose where and when, designing your dream holiday!Have you been down under? What was your favourite place? If you are going where are you heading for?
