    Christmas is in the air!

Holiday season begins soon! It is only 3 weeks from now and we can already experience some of the Christmas spirit! Christmas markets open in numerous European cities and entice with a scent of cinnamon, hot sweet wine and some original handicraft gifts. Do you know where the best Christmas markets in Europe?

    Prague, Czech Republic

Winter Prague is home to its Christmas market from the middle of November until the end of December. It is situated in the very heart of the Czech capital, on the Old Town main square. Here, the historical buildings provide a magnificent backdrop to the festival. Beautifully decorated stands lure with shining, colourful gifts, handicrafts and some specialities from the local cuisine. It's best to visit in the evening when the Christmas lights sizzle and create a special holiday atmosphere.

    Munich, Germany

Traditionally, Munich Christmas market takes place in the city centre at Marienplatz. This year, the festival lasts from the 25th of November to the 24th of December 2013 and offers its visitors many attractions. A 'must do' at Munich Christmas Market is to try Lebkuchen - a kind of ginger bread - accompanied by some Glühwein, a hot sweet cinnamon wine. Everyday, there's also live music; local folk bands play on the city hall balcony. The tradition of a Christmas market in Munich dates back to the Middle Ages. Visit the Bavarian capital city, take in the beautiful historical buildings and enjoy the holiday spirit!

    Vienna, Austria

One of the oldest in Europe, Vienna Christmas market is also one of the most beautiful festivals. It began on 16th November and will last until Christmas Eve, the 24th of December. Located in front of the stunning city hall, the Viennese Christmas Market is a fairly-tale setting. Here, you can try some local food specialties, sip some punch and listen to international choirs performing carols.

Christmas & New Year's Market at Schönbrunn Palace, another festival in Vienna, is where you can buy some hand made seasonal decorations, indulge in some Christmas cakes and biscuits and listen to live music. The market runs from the 25th of December until the 1st of January.
