    City Breaks: Berlin

    Are you are looking for a place full of history, art, museums, great food and fun? Then perhaps a city break to Berlin is in order.

    Berlin is known to be the city that never sleeps with a night-life that doesn't stop until you should already be on your way to work. If you're planning a trip to Germany, Berlin is a must-see city. Worried about not speaking the language? Don't be. It is one of the most international cities in Europe and full of expats and tourists, all there to take in the same vibrant feeling the city has to offer. Almost everyone can speak English, so the fear of the German language shouldn't put you off. You probably already know the most popular sites such as the Brandenburg Gate, Holocaust Memorial and the TV tower, but be sure to also visit other popular sites such as;

    Spree River

    When the weather is nice, relaxing by the Spree is a must while in Berlin. You can find a nice mix of beach bars sitting right alongside the river in the city centre surrounded by historical sites. Here you can relax, enjoy a nice summer's drink and watch as the boats go by, all the while soaking up the sun with the locals.

    East Side Gallery

    This is an international memorial for freedom which is located on a long section of the Berlin Wall near the centre of Berlin in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. The gallery consists of 105 paintings from artists all over the world. It is known to be the largest and longest-lasting open-air gallery in the world.

    Zur Letzten Instanz

    The oldest restaurant in Berlin, open since 1621. This is one place you surely do not want to miss. Here you can enjoy a traditional German atmosphere, food and beer, of course. It is said that Napoleon once dined here. Tip: Book early as it is small and is always full. Outside seating is available in warm weather.

    Checkpoint Charlie

    As one of Berlin's most popular attractions, Checkpoint Charlie served as the former border-crossing point. Today, it houses a museum which offers an exhibition about the Berlin Wall in the style of the 70s and has become an attraction on its own within the museum.

    Doner Kebab

    Last but definitely not least, a trip to Berlin is never complete without feasting on the delicious doner kebab. If you have never had one, trust me, this is something you don´t want to miss! You can find them served almost on every corner, but in my experience the best are served in the area of Tempelhof/Kreuzberg.
