Ski Trip for a Party of Five

So, the half-term holidays are around the corner, at least for some of us, and my little sister Emily, which is no longer little, is part of that lucky lot. Ah, student life.

As a celebration for their hard work in college, she and other four friends have decided to spend the holidays in the snow and she came to me for advice. Old habits die hard, perhaps? In this line of work, we hear of great opportunities and one I thought she shouldn't miss out on would be a fun getaway on the Italian Alps. We checked all possible means of transportation and since they're all of driving age already, a car hire seemed like a great choice. They could even take turns on the wheel!

Coming from London by plane, hiring a car in Milan Malpensa Airport would help them greatly as a starting point for the trip. This glamorous shopping town is surrounded by many ski resorts, eager to welcome fun-loving groups on their slopes.

During snow season, these resorts offer great group discounts on numerous activities, among which ski touring, snowboarding and hiking are included.

From the mountains around Milan, another possible itinerary would be to drive their Italy car hire to Turin. The Aosta Valley is highly sought after for its Alpine climate, which compared to other regions of the Alps, is quite severe. But you know what that means, right? More snow and hence, more fun!

I also reminded Emily to look for deals which included winter tyres, an extra that may come quite handy when venturing along those roads. Sensible driving, however, that is a perk you have to guarantee yourself.

Really wish I could go along with them instead of just writing about it. But who knows, there's always next time. Bring loads of pictures, will you? Or else I'll tell Mom. You know about what.

Any stories about holidays in the snow with friends you'd like to share? Flops, misadventures and other embarrassing details are welcome!
