    The Harbours of Spain

When you think of Spanish harbours, what's the first thing that springs to mind? Is it the clear crystal waters, the gleaming white yachts, the traditional seafood restaurants that line the seafront? Well you would be correct because Spanish harbours have all of those, and more!

The coastline of Spain is dotted with fantastic harbours that range from small fishing types to flash resorts where the rich and famous come to party! Here are a few suggestions of harbours worth a visit.

Visit Santander and you can experience one of Spain's busiest ports. Located on the northern coastline, many people who chose to get to Spain via ferry rather than fly choose the city as a starting point. Along the waterfront you will find many shops, restaurants and hotels. If you get the chance to pop down to Sardinero beach, then do so. Its fine sands attract visitors worldwide and it is known for being one of the most elegant beach resorts in Spain!

Hire a car in Barcelona and take a trip down to Port Vell, which in English means 'Old Harbour'. It is one of the city's busiest attractions and has a huge shopping complex, including bars, restaurants and a cinema, plus Europe's largest aquarium!

If you are looking for a harbour a little less crowed, then you can visit Port Olímpic. It is located in-between two beaches and has a walkway which connects them.

On the island of Mallorca, there are quite a few harbours and marinas, as boat trips are a popular choice with tourists. If you collect a car hire in Mallorca Airport, you'll be able to relax in the harbour of Palma city in no time. The stunning waterfront is lined with expensive yachts and the hills that back around it proudly display the Castle of Bellver!

Have you been to any of these harbours? Maybe you want to recommend a harbour for our readers to visit?
