    Top 5 Drives in France

We are taking our blog post back to basics and aiming to get people inspired enough to book a car hire holiday! Sure, we can tell you how by booking a hire car you can avoid the painful airport shuttle services, or that car hire gives you the freedom to plan your own sightseeing trip; but in this post we are focusing on the roads of France and the best drives that this beautiful country has to offer.

Cote d'Azur Coastline - It's no surprise that the French Riviera is the top of our list. The sun-drenched coastline is filled with traditional fishing villages that have been turned into tourist hotspots, and the beaches here are simply heavenly. If you're flying to the area straight from the UK, then picking up a car hire at Nice Airport is probably the best way to go.

Alps - You can drive through the alpine mountains any time of the year and enjoy amazing scenery. The winter months attract the snow lovers, and the months that follow are perfect for those who enjoy admiring the bright colours of the countryside.

Gorges Du Verdon - Did you know that Europe has its very own Grand Canyon? Well not officially, but the Gorges Du Verdon in central Provence is as close as we are going to get. This beautiful canyon has been carved by the Verdon River, and mother-nature has been taking her time to produce this masterpiece; it is said to be two million years old. Do be careful driving on the roads found at the top; they can be very slow-moving due to the stunning views that you have around you.

La Cote d'Or - France has a few different wine regions and we recommend La Cote D'Or, found in the Burgundy region of the country. The long winding roads take you past many vineyards where you can stop and enjoy the locally produced food and wine.

Cathar Country - This region is for the explorer hidden in all of us! You can drive your France hire car from the charming town of Beziers, through the historic landscape to arrive at the historic city of Carcassonne. The old part of the city is surrounded by a fortress and even has its own draw bridge.Have you driven any of these routes, or perhaps you have some to recommend? Do get in touch and share your thoughts.
