    Touring the Isle of Sicily

Sicily is a small island located at the 'boot' of Italy. It's a place I have always wanted to visit since watching The Godfather, although I do not want to bump into any of the unsavoury characters! It was a toss-up between a car hire in Italy and an island adventure and Sicily won!

Here are my top 5 places to visit, in no particular order.

    1. The ancient city of Leontinoi & ancient ruins is an archaeological site at Carlentini. The city of Carlentini itself is a modern city, with the ancient ruins situated on the outskirts in the valley of San Mauro and perched upon two hills.

    2. Mount Etna is a must stop! We can pick up a car hire in Catania and first explore the beautiful architecture of the buildings and enjoy the bustling nightlife. Then it's off to Europe's largest volcano, a place sure to take some great pictures.

    3. Cefalu is coastal town in northern Sicily and is said to have great beaches. Here you can also climb The Rock and admire the town view of red roofs and stunning coastline.

    4. The fish markets at Trapani are the place to catch a fresh bargain! Trapani also has a large number of historic monuments and here is where you can visit the Basilica-Sanctuary of Maria Santissima Annunziata. The city boasts great family friendly beaches and a children's adventure playground.

    5. Valley of the Temples in Agrigento is by far one of the island's main attractions. The five Greek temples span along the south side of Agrigento and have been compared to the Acropolis in Athens!

The best thing about hiring a car in Sicily is that you can drive from north to south in around 5 hours, so if we book a 10 day holiday we are sure to visit all of the above places plus discover more great places along the way!Have you been to Sicily, what places can you recommend?
