" I've been using Autoeurope for years but never again! I was supposed to pick up a car at Treviso airport at 4:30 pm. My flight was delayed by 40 minutes, so I arrived to the desk around 5:20 pm and it was closed. I tried to call Drivalia first, no reply or whatsoever. Turns out that they close at 5 pm! It was Wednesday, not the weekend, not a holiday. There were other rentals around but none of them was closing at 5 pm. They had my contact details, they had my flight number, so they could have easily checked that my flight was delayed and waited for me. I called Autoeurope explaining the problem and expecting them to help me resolving the issue. The member of stuff was defensive from the very beginning, she blamed it all on me, refused to help finding me another car and refused to give me a refund. So, I ended up paying €220 for taxi. Autoeurope gave me the worst car rental experience I've ever had. Never again! "

" I rented Seat Arona but was given Fiat 500X when I got to Treviso Airtpot. All my protest that this is not what I paid for was in vain as I was not listened to. I have never experienced poor customer service like this since I have been renting car. After signing the car rental contract, I was told to go and be looking for the car on my own in different car parks after 21:00hrs in the night without light. I managed to took pictures of the car after begging someone to use their car head light. I was even threatened to take their car insurance policy of more than 200 Euros before they agreed to withhold 700 Euros from my credit card even when I have already purchase online insurance. "

" I have booked a car with winter tyres but when I got there, Leasys gave me a bigger car but without winter tyres for the same price. They gave me snow-chains as it is required by law, however the snow chains were smaller than the tyres on the car. Imagine how angry I was when I had to put on the snow chains and they did not fit. I had to buy larger snow-chains. That set me back 100 EUR. Additionally, the washing liquid froze because they did not add any winter washing liquid, they only had water in the tank. Buying winter washing liquid set me back another 4 EUR. And finally, they asked me to buy AdBlue which set me back additional 10 EUR. Overall, I can say that the car was not ready at all for the winter conditions which made my journey to the hotel very difficult. I definitely will not recommend Leasys and will avoid renting from them in the future. "

" Worst experience renting a car to date. I've hired many cars abroad, and had no issues. When trying to pick up the car from Venice Treviso, i was told I would need to put a £1200 euro deposit on my credit card. I told them I don't own a credit card. They then made wait for an hour, till they spoke to their manager. They then said I couldn't have my 100 pound deposit back, as it was my fault... Even though I had paid for the highest tier of Insurance.... So at this point I was in a foreign country with no car, and about to loose a £100... And been stuck at the airport.... So by holding hostage of the 100 pounds, and taking further advantage they said I could have a car for an hour extra 200 euros. This was getting close to midnight now so I paid it. I also had to pay a fuel deposit of 200 pounds on top. The car itself was smashed up, and the staff were so rude. No the best way of starting your first trip to Italy on your 40th birthday. A humiliating rip off. "

" Everything was problem-free - except for either Maggiore or Auto Europe blatantly attempting to rip me off, against Auto Europe's stated terms and conditions (I read them carefully), by introducing an unexplained charge, with zero explanation or prior warning, after all transactions were complete and I'd been told there was no problem with the car. My impression was that this was deliberately slipped 'under the radar' so that I wouldn't notice until after I'd signed for what I believed was return of the car and/or got home. It's hard not to view this as essentially attempted theft, by someone (Maggiore, according to Auto Europe), which despite my otherwise good experience is very difficult to overlook. "

" As with most hire cars these days there was some pre-existing damage to the vehicle. This was marked on the paperwork BUT the diagram is small and on a carbon copy it was difficult to see exactly what this referred to. Whilst we concluded that all damage had been marked this was questioned on our return, however, after we pointed out the rather pale carbon copy markings it was accepted that no new damage had occurred. Neither party is assisted by this documentation approach. With the potential for considerable cost if even a minor scratch is overlooked when picking up a hire car the system for recording existing damage should be reviewed and better methods employed. " I took out a separate insurance to cover damage excess plus damage to tyres, windscreen, undercarriage etc. However, when I got to Locauto I found out that if you don't have enough money on your credit card for them to block of they won't let you rent the car. So we had to pay an extra EUR 128 to buy their local insurance, which I had tried to avoid by taking out separate insurance beforehand. I think the system is very unfair and this has been an expensive lesson to learn but I won't make the same mistake twice. "

On this occasion, when I got to airport, they said that there was something wrong with the car I was supposed to have (a wv golf) and that I would have another car, a Skoda Yeti. This car was very dirty when I got in and was incredibly smelly. It had done nearly 27000 kilometres and must have been an employees car who smoked heavily. The smell really made me feel ill on the drive to my destination. I had to purchase some odour killing spray which helped a bit to make it bearable. Otherwise the car was excellent in terms of comfort and driving. "
