" Keddy didn't exist but we went through EUROPCAR. at Verona airport. They insisted on charging me more even though I had already paid for extra cover. I showed them paperwork from autoeurope. They also charged me for other extras I did not request. I am still waiting to why I have other charges since dropping car off. There was no one at the depot when I dropped car off. I deposited keys in box. There was no damage to car and I refilled fuel at fuel station close to carhire depot. There should be no further charges at all. Altogether extremely stressful. I would not recommend EUROPCAR to anyone and they are not doing your company any favours. I have submitted a claim form. " Auto Europe did not pass the request for child seats on to Drivalia so I hold them predominantly responsible for the inconvenience and having to buy child seats that I do not need or want. Because the request didn't go through I had to leave my young family for two hours at the airport, whilst I went on a wild goose chase to buy child seats. A very stressful experience. "

" I've rented from Viaggiare twice, and on both occasions, they reported damage to the vehicle after the rental period. In both cases, the claims were unfounded. After the first rental, I had to dispute the charge through my credit card to recover the funds. This time, I've responded to the accusation letting them know I have photo evidence taken at pickup, clearly showing the alleged damage was already present. A single incident could be an error, but experiencing this twice raises serious concerns about the company's integrity. When collecting the car, the counter staff was only 1 person, and they had no interest in documenting the existing unrecorded damage and simply told me to take my own photos and keep them as evidence. With so many pre-existing issues, it's easy to imagine you could miss something and risk being wrongly charged by Viaggiare. "

" Tried to get the car at the Hertz counter at Verona Airport 4th june evening but was refused since they said i needed the plastic licence. I showed them the paper licence, and also a photo of my plastic licence on my phone, along with an out of date plastic licence, but was told i needed the current plastic licence. Called your UK support number but i guess since it was 6.15pm BST, call was transferred to your USA office. All I wanted was for the name on my reservation to be changed to my wife's with all other details remaining the same and Hertz/Thrifty would then give me the car. BUT Your USA office informed me that they were unable to do this and that i should talk to/communicate with UK office, which i did immediately by sending an e-mail. Hence I could not get any car from Hertz/Thrifty and even though I went to a couple of other rental companies there, no one had an automatic car to rent for my wife. So, i had to get a taxi to the hotel and spend money on taxis etc for the next 5 days to get around Lake Garda and surrounding areas Mr Abhi Budhwar "

I hire cars multiple times every year and have used Auto Europe for c. 20 years but never again as I cannot trust that something I have paid for in advance will actually be available. The refund does not cover all of my booking cost and I had to rent a much more expensive car leaving me €300 out of pocket. A 2 hour delay is nothing in terms of air travel these days and I don't see how I can trust Auto Europe again. "

" I have been using Auto Europe for many years and I have always been happy with their service but I cannot say the same for some of the rental companies they are working with. "
" Extremely rude unprofessional and unhelpful member of the staff at the counter as soon as I have arrived to collect the car, without any apparent reason to behave in such awful manner. As many others rental companies do, Sicily by Car do not accompany the customer to the car to check it together and eventually address any concerns, but at the counter I was told that if I have any concerns I would have to take a pictures and sent them to their email address with any comments. I have been renting cars for decades and I have to say that this is not the most professional and reassuring procedure. The first car I was given was dirty. Having talked to the member of the stuff cleaning returned cars by the car park, he said that I shouldn't have been given a car in such dirty condition. I decided to take the car anyway, in all honesty I did not fancy going back to the counter to face the rude lady once again. Soon after driving away (about 10 minutes), I have realised that the rear window wiper was missing (it's a legal requirement to have it fitted) I returned back for assistance just to be told from the same rude person at the counter that I would have to be charged for it. It was only after arguing at length about the unreasonableness of the situation (how could I have damaged a window wiper in the space of 10 minutes? I could have understood their point if I would have come back with a broken head light or something similar) and the intervention of another member of the staff that the car was replaced with a different one. After having the replacement car for few hours the oil warning light came on with a message on the dashboard recommending do add one litre of oil. Also no long after that another warning message about replacing the key fob battery came on. It is evident that the cars are not properly looked after and not adequately checked before being handed to the customer, to the extent that legal required parts of the cars in order to drive it safely are missing. Also essential maintenance checks like oil levels are not carried out making the cars not road worthy and giving the customers unnecessary concerns. Also at the moment of the booking on your website, after having compared the price and service of few different rental companies and decided to use Sicily by Car because they were giving me the option to have a car equipped with winter tyres, I went back to proceed with the booking only to realise that the cost did go up of £.50 and I do not understand why. In conclusion I have to say that the experience with Sicily by Car wasn't a pleasant one at all !! Not an experience you want to have at the start of your holiday. "

" AutoEurope, when contacted for help, threatened not to reimburse me and impose a penalty because allegedly we were late picking up a car that I have prepaid for (fees are per 24 hours from when rented pursuant to T&CS + 11 days paid for), even though we have arrived on the flight in time identified in the reservation form. In any event, no such term for "late arrival" exists in T&Cs / the Voucher. AutoEurope also refused to rebook with another provider and a number of providers in Verona airport had the same cars available. Italy Car Rent at the time said that it is AutoEurope's duty to do so (but I have no idea as to your internal arrangements with Italy Car Rent. "

" From the point of view of handover & drop-off everything was very good. Transfer to & from airport to their location was very good. But i have to say i was not happy at being penalised for some damage to the rear bumper. When we picked the vehicle up it was dark because our flight was delayed due to a technical fault with the plane. The RENTSMRT representative advised to take the vehicle & do an inspection of the car in the daylight the next day & if we found any damage not marked on the damage diagram on the contract to take a photo & email it to them. Which i did. On inspection i found both front wheel trims had damage & only was shown on the diagram so sent a photo regarding this. On the diagram the rear bumper was also shown as having been damaged & so i thought the damage on the bumper was known so did not send a photo. Upon return of the vehicle RENTSMRT claimed that i was responsible for this damage & the damage highlighted on the diagram were for some other scratches, & i mean small scratches that i have never known a rental firm ever consider. I know this damage was there when i collected the vehicle & the way they have handled it has left a very bad taste in the mouth & because of this i doubt i will use RENTSMRT again. "

I cannot think of any way that we would have caused this damage (part of the wheel arch was ripped off) but cannot show (or know for sure) whether the damage was already there when we picked up the car as it was not in a noticeable place. Drivalia only have ONE Tonale on their books at Verona and even though I had booked this vehicle in May/June they still sent it to be "serviced" when it was meant to be available for our collection date. They didn't tell us ahead of the collection date possibly due to the cancellation policy. We were able to cancel our booking right up until we arrived at the desk as we had included the cancellation cover. "

There was also the waiting point for collection was not clear so wasted time calling them to pinpoint the location from the airport. If you still want to use this company I suggest to do a thorough video recording pre-drive off and point out EVERY single defect you can find and then return back to the reception (as he would not have bothered to check with you) and insist to mark the car condition diagram together. And go and book with another provider. Both elements here were the most poor and shocking customer support I have ever faced. You can now see why the industry has such a shoddy and poor reputation as all was reinforced in my experiences. And lies. Ultimately with the day light running out, a family holiday clock ticking it felt I had no choice but to take the vehicle on offer as that was the best they had. I will provide honest feedback about my experience. Despite complaint at the time I have had no contact except for this generic feedback email. Whilst I appreciate as the renter it is your responsibility to figure these items o it, but they are familiar with all the vehicles so it is appreciated when they take a few minutes to give you a basic rundown. He explained clearly how to return to bring the car back (which at Verona station involves going down the taxi lane). One of the best car rental experiences we have had. " Auto Europe are fine if you just want to make an initial booking. Once the booking has been made, there the help ends!!! We tried on five occasions to call the number given to elicite help in making the urgent last minute changes regarding the return of the car ( see above) on 4 of those, we were cut off half way through the call. On the 5 th occasion I was told that you could not help. In conclusion, I don't think we will use Auto Europe again to book a car hire as there is no onward support. "

The extent of the damage wasn't expressed clearly at the desk. I also found additional damage which I took extensive video and photos of. So no, no a product of value whatsoever. A sign told us to call a number and wait for a call back. Rachele in Budget office in Milan offered to do a contract over the phone, and "as a gesture of goodwill" said she would reduce the liability for accidents to 0 with an extra 50 Euros. That turned out to be 85 Euros instead!! Also my son and I waited for over an hour to have the car. They promised us an upgrade and as a result, rather than a VW Golf they gave us a Fiat 500. What an upgrade!!! I have been trying to call Budget offices for two weeks to have an explanation of the charges, but their phone automatic answering system is constructed to deflect furious callers like me. They have proved to be the worst car rental experience over the past 25 years I have been renting cars all over the world! "

You then have to call the number and give all your details over the phone - passport, licence and credit card - they then send someone to the airport to collect you and take you off site. We were then herded into a van with 9 other people (no social distancing) and taken to a car park outside the airport. The car was old having done 66000km and had numerous areas of damage, one of which was not noted. I pointed this out to the person at the car park and she said that it was nothing to do with her. I called the Avis number and was told to tell the person at the car park ! "

Fiat Tipo with 30000 miles and at least 2 dents/bad repairs on every panel. On drop off a chip was found on the windscreen which I've been charged £420 for? Surely a £30 repair! "

We were informed that our car had been given away and there are no more cars. she may as well have said "tough", such was her attitude. I have asked for a refund for the £300 I have spent with Auto Europe for absolutely nothing - no car and atrocious customer service and I have not received any reply. Will I be recommending Auto Europe - I will go out of my way to report how bad the service was, as far and wide as possible. I hire a car 7 - 8 pa in Europe, 3 times a year from Verona airport. Shame on auto europe for ruining the start to our holiday. "

Handed the key in at the collection desk felt a bit vulnerable that no one checked the car to see that no damage had happened whilst in my possession. "

" I was really pleased with the car - and the drop-off. But when getting the car, I was informed Interrent didn't accept the American Express credit card I'd used to pay for and book the car. I offered my partners credit card but was informed it had to be in my own name. I offered to cancel and rebook in my partners name and was told this wasn't possible. I tried to call Auto-Rent as I had not been informed my Credit Card (the same I'd used to book the car) wouldn't be accepted - but it was out of office hours and AutoRent was closed. I was left with no option but to pay 240 Euro on my Direct Debit Card - a charge I wasn't expecting. I also have my own European Car insurance. So, I feel I was stung, which is a shame. "

A week before I left I received a new voucher stating deposit would now be 800.00 which I hadn't budgeted for. I was offer by Keddy a chance to reduce the deposit to 100.00 if there was an initial 50.00 paid for extra cover however at desk it was an extra 250.00 so I felt this deliberately misled me to gain more money from me. It was false information which led to a great deal of anxiety. If someone never had the extra funds available outwith the original agreement they would be left stranded without a vehicle and out of pocket. I requested 2 car chairs which weren't with the vehicle on pick up which I could understand could be an oversite however when I brought this to the desks attention it took almost 40 minutes to locate these chairs 1 new and another dragged from the back. 40 minute wait at desk while my 2 children were also forced to wait in 35 degree heat. However, I was extremely please on collection when the staff upgraded our vehicle to a larger car due to our luggage, at no extra expense. This was a lovely touch. Dropping the car at Naples was not straightforward, not a great process with a young baby having to drop and carry luggage to get into a minibus. However, this is not the car rental companies fault. " Vehicle was handed over to me mechanically unchecked and unserviceable. Three days into my hire the oil warning light came on. I was 3km away from Garda with two mobility impaired passengers with me. Eventually I removed the engine oil dipstick which revealed NO trace of oil in the engine. I purchased some engine oil and got a receipt for 15euros which was refunded to me at drop off. The windscreen washer bottle was totally empty and had been from the point of pick up. Please note that even with 15euros of oil in the engine only a low trace was evident on the dipstick. Staff at the car hire company said it was due an engine oil change. Had it not been for my action you could have been changing the engine. The experience was totally unsatisfactory and I look forward to your response "

" I have only one small criticism to make relating to the pick up and drop off. When picking up the vehicle late on the Saturday evening I noted some scuffing on the wing mirrors of the car. However, because I had only been given an electronic copy of the rental agreement it was not possible to note the existing damage. The attendant in the rental garage was about to finish work for the day and was either unwilling or did not know how to record the damage apart from suggesting I took some photographs. " Upon arrival we had to wait over 1 hour to be served. Maggiore also stated the insurance we had purchased in advance was irrelevant and we would need to buy additional insurances. They also tried to give us a lower band vehicle than the one we had booked. Upon returning the vehicle, they blamed us for some minor damage underneath the vehicle which we hadn't seen. They wanted to charge us 190Euro to put this right, which we refused. Upon return I have notices three separate unathourised credit card charges for over £300 from Maggiore. However my son (Thomas Coughlan) had a different experience as he chose Global - alias Buchbinder as the supplier - voucher UK 4525135 - He missed his flight due to loss of passport but sent his family ahead on the flight on Sat 28 July . His wife and three children 6, 4 and 1 year old - on arrival at the Global desk - she was first told the contract was cancelled without refund .. after some discussion they relented and agreed to accept her as primary driver but only with full insurance costing 400 Euros - she had no option but to pay as they wouldn't wait for husband to arrive on a later flight and threatened to cancel the contract without any refund . cost of which was over £1,200 . They had no consideration for the plight she was in with 3 kids running riot whilst whilst she was trying to negotiate some acceptable deal. They were very unhelpful and persued an intimating sting on a mother of 3 in a crisis. I had problems with Buchbinder thru yourselves some 3-4 years ago - were they tried to belatedely overcharge me - but you supported us in obtaining a refund for their unauthorised and incorrect deduction- and you said you would not deal with them again - but they have now reappeared as Global ... if you can reply to this you will find me on kcoughlan@btinternet.com . " Nobody at Verona airport were aware that Keddy existed. There were no signs and when I asked representatives at Avis they had no idea where Keddy were situated either. Foolishly I started queuing at Auto Europa thinking they were affiliated with Auto Europe. After 40 minutes of waiting I was told that they were not able to help me. I called the number on my booking form to discover that Europcar were dealing with Keddy. Annoyingly these people were right next door to Auto Europa with no queue whatsoever. All in all, over an hour after walking into the Car hire office, I was finally in my car. Clearly if I knew I had to go to the Euopcar desk, my arrival at Verona Airport would've been much smoother. Europcar though, were very helpful! "
" Hi Thanks for the recent booking of the hire car for my trip in Italy. For the majority of my trip I have been very satisfied with the vehicle. I would just like to make a few comments that may improve future customer experience and additionally query my final bill. Locating the desk at the airport was not easy it did not make any reference on the voucher that this was a maggiore rental I ended up going around every desk on the site to eventually find maggiore which took up a lot of time waiting in queues and been treated discourteously.... When I spoke with other rental companies and them telling me that they were not interested. I except that I was sent the name maggiore on an email when I asked for the drop off location but this was not significant enough information. The rental company on the voucher I was sent was ZD ITALY ??? Dropping off the vehicle I see on my invoice that I have been charged for 3 litres of missing fuel. I find this hard to believe as I filled the vehicle up 2.5 miles away from the drop off location. I am a little annoyed by this as I filled the tank on the vehicle in Anterselva then drove to Mestre 130 miles and put firstly 5 in the vehicle then I registered another 10 on the self service and it only took 6.47 ..... I could not get any more fuel in to the vehicle it was completely full!!! So I lost 3 of fuel that I had already prepaid. So I find it hard to believe that taking a trip for 2.5 miles could use 3 litres of diesel on a car that was so economical??? I would investigate the integrity of this claim. Every rental I have ever taken before has been filled in a similar fashion and I have never experienced this before. Finally could you please explain the airport tax? I would just like some information regarding. Apologies if this appears to be a complaint, I am only evaluating your service as I was satisfied with the vehicle and the majority of the aspects of the rental. I hope you can understand this. " First time I have had a problem. I have flown ito Verona many times in the past and thought I knew how it worked. It was not as clear from the booking confirmation that the rental company (Buchbinder) did not have a presence at the airport. The airline pushed the flight back, Buchbinder did not check the amended flight times and their office was closed when we arrived so we were stranded at the airport. We contacted Buchbinder but they were not prepared to assist so we ended up having to hire a car from another operator for a day. "

If it had been made clearer, then I am sure that our difficulties could have been avoided. As it was the airline changed their flight times and the flight was delayed. " Booked car for 9am , pre paid and received confirmation. I arrived at 9.55 and waited in a queue for 30mins .When I got to the desk I was told that there was no booking. The reason given - They only allow 1hr to collect your vehicle ,after that the booking is cancelled. Unbelievable !! I only got the car by refusing to leave the front of the queue which was getting very long and people behind were getting frustrated . Please beware - only book if you are confident that your plane will arrive on time , your baggage will be first off the carousel and you can find your way to the car hire office, which is situated in a unit outside .Then prey there be no queue at the desk ! We decided on the larger but we were left disappointed as the cigarette lighter did not work which meant we could not use our GPS. We then had to ask for a replacement car but was only offered a car smaller than what we had paid for. After a "discussion" we were eventually offered a suitable replacement, for which I thank you. However, you had a request of our order in advance so I would expect to be offered the car we requested or a larger one; I do not expect to be offered a car that was too small for us and our luggage. " No option in booking form for snow tyres which we needed for driving in mountainous region., Local rental station told us we should have prebooked these. We were able to upgrade on payment to a vehicle with winter tyres but payment was more than we would have expected and increased rental cost considerably. Local agent helpful and vehicle satisfactory except that window washer pump did not work - no car should be rented out without window washer working.l Windscreen gets filthy on motorway at all times. On the plus side the actual booking was straightforward, contact by phone with Auto Europe helpful and so I would use again but would check out by phone for any special unlisted requests. "

" I've never had such a bad experience with a hire car company in 30 years. I booked a VW Passat Estate because I had 3 adults & 2 babies + gear. I had a car with Locauto in April and that was fine. When I returned it, I checked again that they understood the requirement and would allocate the right car; they said they did. When we arrived, late evening, they only had a Mercedes B Class, which is smaller. Their argument was that it was 'in the same category'. I had no choice and it was a nightmare. Also, the car was very battered, even for Italy. In the gloom of the car park, it was impossible to check the car for so many scratches and dents. On return, they claimed I'd added a small scratch and charged me 200! I have written to their HQ... "
