We had difficulty finding the pick up point and then an unecessarily aggressive driver told us he would only take the main driver. This left my wife, my son on crutches, his pregnant wife and a 22 month old child at the airport. On arrival at the site I was directed the wrong place. The desk staff were good although it was difficult to get a safe child seat. The car I was expecting was a Skoda Kamiq or similar. I was given a Ford Tornio. This is like a van with windows! But at least there was plenty of room. On the way back it was suggested the bumper had been damaged during my hire. Luckily I had photographs proving it was pre-existing damage. I do hope I will be returned my 900 Euro deposit soon!! "

" I ordered a Kia Sportage and received a sub standard Toyota Cross. This was smaller than the Kia. I was happy to use it as the car park was a 15 minute walk outside in the sun. With 2 young children and my wife, I wasn't going to walk back in the blistering sun when I could fit my suitcases in. I am 6 ft tall and struggled to fit in the vehicle. There were several scratches on the vehicle but the inside was clean. I want a partial refund as I did not get a like for like car which I expected. I previously owned a Kia and the driving experience was not the same and I have seen no justification in any of the feedback as to why a Kia sportage is like for like with a Toyota Yaris Cross. "

Our original booking was for 11:00 AM, yet upon arrival, we were informed that the vehicle we had reserved was not available. After being made to wait for over an hour and a half, we were then told the car still wouldn't be ready until 1:00 PM. This level of disorganisation and complete disregard for your customers' time is entirely unacceptable. To make matters worse, when a vehicle was finally provided, it was not fit for purpose. It was far too small to accommodate four people and our luggage, despite our original booking clearly specifying our requirements. After the first rental, I had to dispute the charge through my credit card to recover the funds. This time, I've responded to the accusation letting them know I have photo evidence taken at pickup, clearly showing the alleged damage was already present. A single incident could be an error, but experiencing this twice raises serious concerns about the company's integrity. When collecting the car, the counter staff was only 1 person, and they had no interest in documenting the existing unrecorded damage and simply told me to take my own photos and keep them as evidence. With so many pre-existing issues, it's easy to imagine you could miss something and risk being wrongly charged by Viaggiare. "

" When we booked the car with autoeurope, we booked a Fiat 500 , but at the collection it wasn't available at all . We had another car similar but not the fiat 500 they promised. Also we paid £80.21 for a full cover insurance, but at the desk of Viaggiare they told us that if anything was going to be wrong with the car we had to pay them first and then claim the money back from you. That's is really confusing and not what I was expecting, and it was also confermed over the phone from your staff. Therefore we paid additional €203 to insure the car totally for our piece of mind. So I'm requesting a refund if my £80 paid in advance , as we had to pay extra on the site in Venice. We were not happy at all with Autoeurope arrangements I'm afraid . "

" 1. Just one member of staff at car collection, despite multiple prebooked customers in queue. 2. Online check-in while waiting in queue did not work as the online form asked for Italian National Insurance Number as mandatory field. I am dual citizen and I have an Italian National Insurance Number but did not have it with me and did not remember it by heart, so online check-in did not work 3. Check-in included a paper form to be filled in by hand with my main details, when all the relevant details had been already provided at the time of the booking with Auto Euope 4. At checkout no Viaggiare staff was present at car park and in the Viaggiare office either (office was closed and locked despite the checkout being during the working hours of the office). I dropped the key in an hidden postbox which had a sign stating that in case of key dropping the driver had the responsibility to take pictures and videos of the car and the dashboard (for petrol) and send them via email. This was never advised at checkin and the car park is a 10mins walk from the office (with bags and everything) under the sun. Combined with upcoming flight it is deemed not possible to do this. I therefore called a number displayed outside the office to be told that the staff was on lunch break (from the contract they knew I was going to check out at that time) and therefore the office was closed. They stated dropping the keys was at my own risk but given the upcoming flight and the fact all went ok during the rental we agreed it was ok to drop the keys and go. 5. One day after checkout I received an invoice of 25EUR covering a cleaning fee because the car had "sand" in places. The rental location is a seaside resort - how is the user meant to hoover the sand off the car while on holiday? There is a larger cleaning fee for waste left in the car and proper dirt, but a bit of sand is really part of a "wear and tear" approach during the rental. Google and Tripadvisor reviews of Viaggare have almost every customer complaining about this 25EUR post rental cleaning fee. It feels a simple default extra charge for everyone, when Viaggiare would surely hoover the car for the next customer anyway. "

They also took the car back before we were actually ready and did not point out that we would be charged an excessive cleaning fee if we did not clean it out. They did not explain that I was signing for the above items which we were only informed about when we reached the office some 15 mins walk away. They could not demonstrate that the damage to the wheel rim was caused during our hire period, It could have been there before we accepted the vehicle or caused after we handed it back. It could even have been a different car for all we know. This was a deliberate scam relying on a well practiced routine in my opinion. I am appalled that Viaggiare can be this dishonest. " Viaggiare are scammers. Collected the car not full of fuel but had to return fully fuelled. Then said there was a scuff which wasn't there on collection. I couldn't prove it as I didn't take a video of the car on drop off. 314 euro of damage for a scuff that could be removed with some scratch remover. 72 euro for taking the car off the road. Bear in mind the car had 9 previous scuffs and dents that other people paid BUT never repaired. AVOID AVOID !!! "

The car collection and drop off location and service is terrible, cars are located far from the terminal and you are left on your own for both pick up and drop off. They keep their rental cars at car parking 6, which is located a good 10 minutes walk through car parks to an isolated far car parkubg area which anybody can reach from the puvlic roads. At night, with cases and valuables, it is an extremely scary experience to have. Furthermore my rental car was filthy outside and inside. It had not been cleaned after multiple rental uses as I found documents of 2 different previous drivers in the different parts of the car. When I asked if I could take the car to clean during my holiday and in my own time and asked to be refunded of the costs, after many calls and wasted time, I was only offered a maximum reimbursement of 10 Euros. Despite the helpful counter staff who helped us very well suggested i speak with the UK office who were not helpful at all. this resulted in me having to pay again and forfeit the original £81 that i paid and had to pay a further £120+ to rent a vehicle. Disappointing, as a precedence had been set that allowed a previous customer to use a Debit card on their rental but mine was refused by your office. Took a very long time to get service. We are long standing customer of auto Europe. The problem lies were with the car hire people and company. "

" We recently hired a car through yourselves and it was a nightmare. Firstly, the car we hired was meant o be a large SUV & we got a small SUV that could not take two 20kg suitcases. It was after the freak hailstone storm, so I understand some stock was out of action. I went back to change to another vehicle wasting an hour & got an estate as no other options. This was fine with us we are not snobs we just want to get to the destination Lake Garda. It then broke down on the motorway less than 20km from the airport and we were stranded. I understand it is Italy & I don't speak Italian. The international number on the useful phone numbers is all in Italian there is no 2 English hit 3 German so its not very helpful. Can you please escalate this so others don't have the experience we had. My cousin is a priest in Rome so he called & the girl at the service station also did for us. It is just we will call you back though. After 2 hours no-one called us so we had to get a taxi back to the airport. I have all the call logs. The service station café we where parked at was closing 5pm & I could not leave my family ( we have a 2 year old) there with no AC as the car was warning stop engine. Went back to the airport as at least the counter lady at your desk can call them as speaks Italian. She was nice allowed us to charge my phone. Showed her the engine warning pictures as I live on a farm and am used to machinery. This car was not repairable it was never going to be an easy fix. Was informed I had to go back to give the pickup guy the keys & he could take me back to the airport. So another taxi there and he did not speak Italian so I was stuck. He was not going back to the airport he has to take the car away so 3 rd. taxi journey. I would like to claim back our taxi fares due to the breakdown of your motor for 2 of the trips as the 3rd on me as I lost the receipt. We also wasted a full day as we did not get the new car till 9 so over 7 hours wasted and we had to pay for meals not use our all inclusive hotel which we should have been at. Event he 3rd car had engine oil warnings so please escalate this to the service team as the cards need to be looked after. "

" I suspect they are trying not to use their own insurance policy to claim for the damage to their cars due to the recent hail storms. We were told that we had incurred damage to the roof of the vehicle, and they were about to keep our deposit when I argued that we didn't have the car during the storms. This makes me think they were waiting for someone that was insured by an external source to lay the blame at. Unfortunately this caused an obvious argument and it wasn't until I said I was calling my partner who was waiting for us along the road, is Italian and lives there, that they realised that we weren't passengers that couldn't argue with them, having a flight to catch. I'm sure they believed we would be rushing for a flight and a prime target to have their 'scam' levelled at. I will never use this company again, ever and I suggest you investigate them thoroughly before they drag your name down also. "

" Due to an error in the booking (admittedly on my part) our vehicle was scheduled to collect on the incorrect day from our arrival in Sardinia. Therefore we found that our booking had been cancelled when we arrived at the vendor desk in Alghero Airport. There were no alternative vehicles available from Viaggiare and so we had to hire an alternative vehicle from another vendor as it was late at night and we had a long drive ahead and needed to get our two small children to bed. The following day I spoke with a very friendly AutoEurope representative who advised that it was unlikely that we would be able to receive any kind of refund for the cancelled booking, even though we had not been able to obtain a vehicle. He did advise that he would raise a support ticket and there may be a chance that we could receive a partial refund from Viaggiare, possibly with a cancellation charge or fee being applied, however when following up a week later there was no update on this. He advised that the ticket was still open and so I am hoping that there is still a chance we may receive some refund for a service we paid for but didn't receive, but if that is not the case I would find it hard to recommend Viaggiare or AutoEurope to family or colleagues. "

" After a delayed flight, we arrived at the Viaggiare counter to find that because Auto Europe had not provided our flight details to them (flight details were clearly provided to Auto Europe and visible on the booking voucher), our booking had been cancelled as we arrived at the desk more than an hour late. We therefore had to make a new booking, which for the exact same car and conditions, ended up being £50 more expensive than our original booking. I phoned Auto Europe to request a refund, and was told that I could claim a full refund, but only because I had paid for cancellation cover, despite this clearly being Auto Europe's error and not mine. I will say that the customer support operative was clear and helpful. I provided all of the necessary information in writing to Auto Europe within 30 minutes of the initial phone call. It is now 10 days later and I have heard nothing further regarding any refund, not even a confirmation that all the necessary documentation has been received. Even with the full refund for my original booking, I will still be £50 out of pocket for Auto Europe's administration error. Please be very clear that I will not be using Auto Europe again, nor can I in any good conscience recommend anyone else use them. I still await news of my refund. A very disappointing experience. "
" No one at the Viaggiare counter on arrival, waiting for almost 25 minutes for someone to return, and the contact number to let them know you were waiting did not work. Our booking had been cancelled because of a late arrival, but Viaggiare staff were quick and helpful in arranging another booking. All hire documentation to sign was in Italian, which we did not speak, and not provided to us until after the rental payment was taken. Car was excellent throughout the stay, and drop off was entirely hassle free and a very positive experience. "

" The counter staff at collection and drop-off were very helpful and when we had to extend our stay and move drop-off to a different airport due to a flight cancellation they were very helpful and advised the charge etc. The issue we had with the car was that the driver window wasn't working properly and when we tried to open the window, it started to fall out whilst driving! Quite a frightening experience. I'm not sure whether the proper checks had been carried out prior to our rental as in the photo we took on collection, the window already looked as if it was coming away from the seal. We explained this and showed them a video when we dropped the car off. Additionally, the car didn't have rear parking sensors which we found very surprising. We would expect at least rear sensors as standard in a hire car. "

" Waited over an hour in hot collection office to be seen. Only one person doing the paperwork for people whilst another just sat there doing nothing. Upon drop off the guy checked the car and went straight underneath the car to find some "new damage" - impossible for us to have caused it as we didn't park up to any kerbs. After this he didn't check the rest of the car. He said we should have taken photos of it prior to taking the car - obviously our fault for not jacking the car up to take photos of the underneath in the pitch dark of course. I disputed the damage was caused by us but he didn't care. On the checkout form in Italian (which he filled out) he asked me if I agreed to the damages, I said no and signed. Said if I paid now the charge would be €150 which I refused. After receiving the emailed form, it said I have agreed to the damage and now the charges were €255. I emailed them twice to raise my concerns regarding the situation and have been ignored. Overall very upsetting in that I feel the checkout form was completed fraudulently along with this "new" damage which has no doubt been charged to multiple customers or caused by a previous customer who bought their insurance. "

He then told me he didn't have the car for me because I was more than one hour late for the pickup for which I had already paid for! With it getting dark and with a 100 km journey to make I had no option to allow the rental agent to reinput my reservation at a cost of 183 euros which he defended as an "upgrade". Amateur, inefficient, sloppy and dishonest. Will never use again. I wasn't aware of the one hour late cut off for a car already prepaid. Is this standard practice? I arrived 1:27 hours after the reservation was due to start, due to problems getting to the airport and I was charged a penalty fee of 50EUR. Apparently on 1/3/23 they reduced the grace time from 2 hours to 1 hour. It's completely unreasonable, given that they incurred no cost with me being slightly late. I had no option but to pay the fee. Even when I agreed, they took a ridiculous amount of time to complete the collection. The car park is chaos. Nobody showed us to the car or identified the existing damage on the car. "
