" Generally I do always have a great experience with Sixt but this time O was disappointed: (1) I booked via Autoeurope a vehicle for 5+ people as we were 5 people traveling with 2 kids in car seats. The car we were given was very small and for the adult who had to sit in the back with the kids it was very uncomfortable. I asked the staff about it and was told that I could only change the car by paying an additional supplement. The specs of the cars on offer need to be better categorized to avoid those issues. (2) A few miles into driving I got told to fuel up icon Ad Blu. I am not driving a Diesel vehicle at home and at the pickup was not told that I need to watch out for Ad Blu... Also very frustrating to have to fuel up for (€30+) and not get a car already fueled up... (3) Within as well a couple of hours driving I got a warning lamp saying the tyres need filling up.... Again would not expect to have to do that on a rental and 3/4 tyres had insufficient air. The location for picknup was great, the car is a very good one, but Sixt should categorize the cars better to avoid space issues, check those Ad Blu levels and make sure tyres are filled up. "

" No-one was available when I arrived at the airport, so I had to come the following day. Hertz made up that a (very small) dent had appeared on the side of the car and claimed 980€ against the repair. My experience of rental cars (and I often rent cars) is that any damage smaller than a golf ball does not get reported: this dent is only a few millimetres long. The photos provided by Hertz a few days after I dropped the car (not when I dropped the car) looked photoshopped. I have since heard of similar scams at Vienna airport and within Hertz. I will avoid Hertz and its sister companies at all costs from now on. "

" I've shared this with Sixt also but the rental experience was overall very positive (especially being able to return to a different location). There were two items worth mentioning though: 1) On collection I was advised that a Hong Kong driving licence is no longer acceptable in Austria. On return to Hong Kong, I queried this with the Austria Consulate who confirmed that Hong Kong licenses with IDP remain valid for car hire in Austria. However they advised that a technical issue in the ÖAMTC Website caused confusion to car hire companies and they will ask the relevant authority to fix this. Not Sixt's fault, but I thought it worth mentioning anyway as it could create problems for future customers. 2) No one was present for the return. That's absolutely fine - I called the number published and returned keys to the secure box. However later in the day I received an email about new damage to the car. This was surprising as the car was only ever parked on a secure, empty driveway. I assume this was all sorted out however as my deposit was returned in full - it just caused a negative feeling for a few days after the rental. "

I received a good quote for 5 days only to arrive to collect the car to realise that there was a 500km limit. I had to pay €148 to have an extra 500 km added to my limit. Then because I drove through Bad Reichenhal in Germany , from Vienna to Kitzbuhel , I was charged €99 for crossing borders. Now I´ve been charge €99 twice because of speeding fines. I still have to pay the speeding fines. I have never had this problem of extra charges with any other hire company before. " 1. I arrived to the counter, having ordered an SUV and was asked if I was ok with automatic. I said no problem. When I got to the car, it was a tiny car. I had 3 children with me and needed to get ski stuff in, so I had to go back to the counter and request a different car. When I said to the lady that there was a problem she said 'well I did ask you if automatic was ok'. She never asked me about the size of the automatic and I didn't need this retort from her. 2. When I got the car it was 5300km overdue a service. this is disgraceful! Especially when I had been told that any breakdowns would be my responsibility! Surely safety should come first and yet my family and I were put in a vehicle that was thousands of kms overdue a service! The chance for breaking down would obviously have been much higher in such a scenario and should the car have broken down, why would I have to pay due to the negligence of Dryyve? 3. At drop off, I was charged a 30 Euro cleaning fee! This is utterly ridiculous as it's a hidden cost because what vehicle isn't going to come back needing to be cleaned. Even if you drove it around for an hour, it's going to need a clean, so this is dishonest and sneaky. Having used Dryyve for 5 years now, I'm unlikely to ever use them again. Even if their prices are lower initially, they're dishonest and unsafe. "

They said they could only deal with it when the invoice arrived after the rental. Even now they are not denying my claim that the clerk was wrong but saying I signed the agreement. " I am in dispute with Avis over their cross border charge. Contrary to their website, the counter staff insisted I had to pay a cross border charge for the whole 8 days of the rental not just the one designated day that I had indicated. He would not check with Avis that he was correct. I also noticed that on the agreement that the car was shown as Red not Grey and that the record mileage was very much more than shown on the agreement. However the registration number was correct. It was so dark in the garage that it was impossible to check all the damage marked. The car also tumed out to be a plug in hybrid although the agreement only mentioned petrol. On the return at Vienna Airport these days, there is a single return place irrespective of the rental company. You are told just to leave the keys in the car and go. There is no role for the customer to play in checking , mileage, fuel or condition. In the event, when the invoice came later by email, all seemed fine for all 3 - even though the mileage was now over 30,000 kms than shown on the outgoing agreement! "

However, after some persuasion they forwarded me to their contact centre. Also when I return the car the agent checked it over and said all okay - it was not until i received the invoice they said the car had not been return full - - not very helpful after the event as you cannot talk to anybody as you had passed through security - I had to find an email address to complain to Alamo / ENT and sent them the evidence and asked for my surcharge to be refund "

" The main problem for scoring low, was the several issues with the car. 1, it wasn't handed over totally full of fuel 2, there was significantly more damage than the rental record showed and we only received this later by email, so couldn't complain at the time. 3, possibly due the the rear wheel arch damage, the car tyre pressure sensor kept telling us the tyre pressures were low. Had to check them every day. 4, car vibrated heavily between 110 and 130km/Hr possibly from poor wheel balance. We therefore lost confidence in the car but could only contact Dryyve by email which took 48 hrs to respond. On the plus side, you acknowledged our damage and fuel level photos and hand back of the car was easy and return of our 500euro deposit almost immediate. Our concern throughout the holiday was that we would have arguments on return as to what damage was original and what we may have done. Particularly as we had the Auto Europe insurance waiver and not the Dryyve full damage insurance waiver. "

I send an email to Auto Europe car for this case but no answer.I went Austria for vacation but i was whole trip triffids not to damage the car , a small dent or scratches it will put me in difficult situation. " It is the first time ever (I hire a car twice a year) that I had a bit of trouble with the excess insurance. The Dryve representative tried to persuade me that I need excess insurance which wasn't included as it didn't show on the voucher. I guess it would have been helpful to have that on the voucher. Only after phoning the Auto Europe UK (who were very helpful) they confirmed that the excess was definitely included in the fee) could I tell the agent to just leave it. Also they were not helpful with all information including the car papers (which I eventually found behind the mirror flap) etc. , it took me one hour to get to drive the car. The damage markings were not accurate either. The car was o.k. but not great. I have used U Save before but this time it was not good. "

" The overall experience was so bad, I argued the USave agent for more than 30 mins and I didnt get what I already ordered and they confirmed. The U Save are so bad. "
" I ordered suzuki S-Cross, then I asked them for upgrading to Citeroen C4 grand Picasso. The U-save company confirmed the upgrade and we agreed about the additional payment of 145 euro. When I arrived to ghe airport and took the car, they changed the additional paymnet to 550 euro without any reason. So, I didnt agree to pay this amount and took the Suzuki Scross. Second issue occured with me, the car was not ready and we waited about 30mins in the parking until the car arrived. Third issue happend with me, wben I took the car the agent didn't write any damage or scratch in the report. When I returned the car, they found small scratch in tge tier and they reported that I caused this scartch. However, this didnt happen with me. I told them tgat this was before I rented the car but they didn't listen to me and seng me damage report of 100 euro for fixing and 100 euro for administration. They are so bad with me. And they took from me 200 euro by wrong. "

" I have nothing but good things to say about the staff at the counter in the Airport, unfortunately the Roadside assistance company left me high and dry in a very dangerous position on the side of the road for 4hrs. "

When I called the Roadside assistance line and requested recovery I was told to contact the manufacturer of the car and request a warranty call. This made no sense and the Roadside Assistance helpline wouldn't help in any other way despite me telling them that this was not a warranty issue. In short, I was left stranded in the middle of Austria with no help. In the end, I had to walk to a number of local tyre garages (in the very hot sunshine) in order to get two new tyres at my own cost. Not, happy at all. "

At Sixt, they didnt have the car that I booked and gave us another much smaller which they regarded as an upgrade. I had to tell them it was not suitable and they blamed the problem on Autoeurope category being different to theirs. This wasn't true.. In the end they tried to help get a bigger car for us but we ended up paying for an Audi A6 combiner's which wasn't much bigger and still a tight squeeze for us. At least they tried but we expected to get the car we booked, and that I had researched to make sure it was big enough with potential of a 7 seater. This different category business they fobbed us off with was not acceptable. "

When we got back, the staff member circled the car 4 times looking and looking for something. Eventually he found a tiny 2mm silver paint fleck missing from the beading around the boot and told us we must pay him for this. This was not us, there was no scratch and could only have been a bit of wear and tear. (We have a photo). This guy seemed determined to find something to charge us extra for, and we are convinced he must get some sort of commission/kick back from Thrifty for any additional charges he can get away with. It was honestly pathetic and dishonest on their side, and I would not use them again. "

" Unfortunately we were unlucky that our flight was delayed which caused the collection desk to be closed upon our arrival. We contacted Budget the following day at opening and they were extremely helpful and ensured our car and paperwork was ready for collection when we arrived at the airport the following day, also due to us collecting the car a day later the price was reduced and we were offered an upgrade or further insurance. We were overall really happy with the service we received "

Because I didn't have a credit card, they said that the extra driver would normally cost more on its own. Very confusing and I think it was made up on the spot to extract more money. " I tried to amend the booking as the flight didn't happen and we travelled two days later, however AutoEurope has refused to either amend or refund the booking. I then booked with Sixt directly. Very unsatisfactory service. Your customer service reps refused to help which is unbelievable in the current situation where flights get booked and re-booked within hours. I cannot understand how you couldn't even move the reservation. Sixt confirmed they wouldn't take any of the money paid to you as I've informed them the booking was to change, so Auto Europe kept the fee without delivering a service. You need to look at your customer treatment as this is unacceptable! "

" I initially booked an automatic Ford Focus, but your website informed me that I could upgrade to a BMW for £150, as the rental period was six weeks I took advantage of this offer. When I arrived at Buchbinder they offered me a Transit van, I was shocked and declined. The only other automatic car they had was an Opel Safira - a markedly inferior car to the bmw that I had booked. On questioning the Buchbinder rep. stated that these were the only automatic cars they had. I accepted the Safira under sufferance, it had done nearly 50,000 kilometers, had no satnav and was generally unsatisfactory. I got in touch with both yourselves and Buchbinder, you informed me that I might be able to swap cars the next week in Salzburg. On contacting Buchbinder in Salzburg, they informed me that they did not stock automatic BMW or Ford Focus at any of their branches in Austria. I was therefore lumbered with a gas guzzling, unattractive taxicab, rather than the neat , economic sedan that I had ordered. I am unhappy with both you and Buchbinder, and feel that I was conned. "

Cars from another country used to go into those countries should have full use of the countries road network and customers should not have to make additional payments. I did not receive any email - and have not to date but realised only today, 9th November that a I was charged a large sum £634 - in my opinion excessive considering the small scratch - it is my intention to follow this up further. On return these were pointed out and said I had caused this damage although I had full insurance its not nice to be told something that you no you haven't done. Overall value score reduced on this occasion as the Car we received was of the correct group we booked but the specification and car features were very basic. Condition score reduced as There were several marks (minor) on the car bodywork that had not been recorded and therefore required reporting before leaving the airport. This was and inconvenience however the Vienna airport Buchbinder staff are excellent and they quickly addressed the matter. "

I booked a hotel and when I came for the car the next Morning I was shocked to find out that my car had already been given out to someone else and they didn't have any other car left. All of this shows me complete lack of professionalism on their end and I would not recommend this rental company to anybody nor would I use them again. They should be aware of flights and their numbers, it's not so difficult to figure out that it's Vueling coming from London. Also they should not give out cars straight away the next Morning, they should wait at least a few hours, totally unacceptable. "

In addition while collecting the keys and sorting the paperwork the USAVE agent tried charging me an additional fee for local taxes. I challenged this but he was insistent. Eventually he conceded and apologised having reviewed my paperwork but he said he would be getting in contact with Auto Europe as he didn't think it was right. " Counter staff at the rental station were very friendly and efficient at collection and return of the vehicle, however, on return they identified some paint damage on the bonnet (1 cm in diameter) which I didn't know about which they say will need to be repainted. I received an estimate for this and they have taken 558 euro's from the 900 that they blocked on my credit card. I have written to them twice since as they were supposed to send me photographs and other documentation that I would need to claim this excess amount back, but they have neither sent me the documents and photos promised, nor replied to my emails so far. Not so good ! I knew the terms of the hire and they have done nothing wrong in charging for any damage found but they must communicate with customers in a timely manner and send documentation that they have promised, its not acceptable to not reply. "

" When I booked the car on the option of providing the flight number it says it's optional, I didn't fill it in and my flight was delayed along with every other flight that day because of a storm. I was a few hours delayed and was told my car had been sold. I find that very hard to believe as all the flights had been delayed. There should be a warning saying if the flight number is not given there's a chance your car could be sold if you're late. I had to upgrade to a more expensive car as very surprisingly there was a car but hey...it's more expensive....what a surprise! I had to basically pay double my rental. I will never ever use auto Europe, rentalcars or global again. I always use enterprise and have never ever experienced anything like that off them. It smells of a scam and very opportunistic. A cheap trick...no wonder car rental companies are being scrutinised now because of these dirty tricks. "

" On arrival our pre-booked estate wasn't available and we got an upgrade to what U-Save describes as an SUV. This was a Suzuki S-cross, a small-size 'SUV' with the boot space of a medium sized backpack. Travelling with 2 little kids, pushchairs etc I signalled this would not work for us. The staff was very friendly but they could only get me a van, which would have been fine for me but an hour or two later, already in another country it became clear that the a/c of the vehicle was inoperable. A lot of phone calls with constant follow-ups from my side but no solution apart from potentially returning the car to the rental location. This was only possible for us in combination with curtailing our holidays. Very, very poor experience. "

" The problem was not the car which was OK, it was the attitude of the company to the renter. It is their policy, told to me by the person on the desk who rented the car to me. If there is the slightest scratch on the car then they will charge you the full 800 Euros - unless you take their insurance. I photographed the car comprehensively having found a dozen scratches and dents on the car that were not on the rental agreement. I emailed them all to Global and had no problem on car return. However the guy in front of me was charged the full 800 Euros for a tiny scratch that he swore that he had not caused. "

Our other criticism was the Polo was terribly underpowered to tackle the mountains of Austria, however it was reliable and very economical. " I have no complaint with Auto Europe and the whole booking experience with them. I'm yet to see what they achieve with recovering the monies taken from my credit card by Global for the so called 'repairs' to minor damage I did not cause to the rental car. A true test of their value will be the outcome of my complaint against Global I've lodged through them. "
" Be warned, this company is running a scam to charge customers for damage to cars not previously recorded. This happened to me and despite my protests I'm being charged for damage to the underside of the front spoiler of the hire car which had not been registered on the paperwork. Global expect me to have crawled on my hands and knees to seek such damage prior to accepting the car. This is totally unreasonable and unfair. When returning the car the agent checking the car deliberately went looking for such damage which was some minor scratches to the underside of the front spoiler which were not visible unless you got down on the floor. I emailed Global to protest as I knew I had not caused the damage. Regardless of my protest Global have taken 630 euros from my credit card following an email from them justifying their actions but there's been no recognition of my protest and argument. Suffice to say, I have instructed my credit card company to register a formal dispute with Global and I've also requested Auto Europe carry out an investigation as the reservation was made through them. The whole episode with Global has been very one side and despicable. Stay clear of this company, you have been warned! "

" First the desk agent, when we requested one more day, refused to use the existing rate code. The extra day cost nearly as much as the pre-booked 4 day rental. Then the collection agent took the vehicle with a full tank of fuel, have is nothing by way of confirmation of the condition of the vehicle on return and charged us for half a tank of fuel. This despite is showing a receipt for fuel from the garage beside the airport. I'm currently requesting that be refunded. "

" Payless subcontracted again to AVIS. I was persuaded to have insurance with AVIS although I told the staff that I have a full insurance with AutoEurope already. She further told me if anything happens AVIS will charge all costs from my credit card. Then she requested me to pay £81 for estimated costs of fuel unfilled consumption(£50) and crossing Hungary boarder (£31) which was not Hungary road tax. In the end, I was asked to pay £265 extra for the additional 650 mileages. My goodness, I never thought the extra mileages were so expensive. It makes the total rental costs of £408 for just 4 days. "

" During the rental, the car lost power even with the foot on the accelerator whilst driving. Even with the foot down. They sent an engineer who plugged in a computer and said the fault had cleared! He didnt look at the cause! Hardly reassuring. They originally offered to change the car but wanted to charge a delivery charge. I then used the car another day and the same fault came. They then agreed to deliver the car..BUT have withheld my deposit which I hope they have returned now. They withheld the deposit in case it was my fault!!! I sent photos of the faults. " You should make it clear that additional insurance cover requires that any payment for damage caused must be recovered from Auto Europe. In Vienna I was offered additional cover for 20 euros per day. I explained that I had bought the additional cover in the UK for £11 per day. I was told that the process to recover any damage charges would be easier if insurance is bought locally. In any event 20 euros a day is too much. Buchbinder appeared to have no record of the fact that I had bought additional insurance cover in the UK. "

" The advice on your documentation was inadequate, stating that the pick-up desk was in the Arrivals Hall at Vienna Airport. This was not the case. It is actually some distance away in a quite separate building above the multi-level car park. There were no signs to this in the Arrivals Hall and only appeared shortly before the entrance to this. I had to enquire as to its location from a taxi driver. I had a similar experience last year at Pisa Airport with a car I booked with your service. This matter needs urgent attention, with more specific information included in your documentation. It makes an already stressful arrival activity even more so. Otherwise, I was pleased with the car and will use your services again. "

In particular the staff who received the car at the end of the lease was unacceptable. They hardly spoke English nor German and gave the impression of been thugs. They tried to avoid to hand over the pink protocol and their general behaviour and bodylanguage as well as lack of explanation suggested ciminal intent. "
