" When I had an issue that I wanted clarified, I rang Auto Europe but they said they were just an intermediatory and I needed to take it up directly with Alamo/ ENT - not helpful! However, after some persuasion they forwarded me to their contact centre. Also when I return the car the agent checked it over and said all okay - it was not until i received the invoice they said the car had not been return full - - not very helpful after the event as you cannot talk to anybody as you had passed through security - I had to find an email address to complain to Alamo / ENT and sent them the evidence and asked for my surcharge to be refund "

" The problem was that the office was locked and empty when I arrived at the scheduled time. Another person who had booked a rental turned up at the same time and found himself in the same situation. There was a message in German posted on the door, and I rang the number but couldn't get through. Eventually, the other renter got through on the phone and the person said they were washing cars and came about 10 minutes later. This was. Kw about 30-40 mins. This caused a great deal of anxiety on arrival at the airport whether one is not affectively stranded without a car. Very unsatisfactory. In contrast, the drop-off was very efficient and someone was ready and waiting in the office. "

I was able to get a reasonable price by watching the price fluctuation and booking at the right moment but it took up a lot of my time and it seems a very unfair pricing policy applied either by Alamo or Auto Europe "

" Rental was fine until I tried to fill up for return. Key would not unlock petrol cap. My daughter and I both tried repeatedly with no success. At the Alamo return the agent also tried and failed but the desk agent subsequently said he'd unlocked the cap successfully. I complained that I should not have to pay the €120 penalty cost when filling up would have cost around €80 and there was no fault on my part. The Alamo desk staff insisted that €120 would be billed. We ended up stranded in hotel for two days until we went to next town by bus to purchase snow chains. When we went skiing we returned to find wing mirror damage to the vehicle it was only the cover and we photographed and sent pictures to the renter. On return they have charged us £880 plus £25 plus Vat for a simply cover. The wing mirror was still in working order and this is an excessive charge. They are no interested that we have a damage waiver. "

They then agreed to deliver the car..BUT have withheld my deposit which I hope they have returned now. They withheld the deposit in case it was my fault!!! I sent photos of the faults. Got upgraded to a much bigger car (Opel Zafira) having booked a VW Polo which I would have much preferred but nothing else similar was available. "
