Bergamo Airport (BGY)
Official Name: Il Caravaggio International Airport, Italian: Aeroporto di Bergamo-Orio al Serio. The airport is also known by many as Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport.
Address: Via Aeroporto, 13, 24050 Orio Al Serio Bergamo, Italy
Location: 2.3 miles from Bergamo, the airport is located in Orio al Serio. Many budget airlines refer to the airport as Milan Bergamo Airport or Milan Orio al Serio Airport as it is also located relatively close to Milan - about 28 miles away.
Airlines operating at Bergamo Airport: Only Ryanair has direct flights from the UK to Bergamo Airport, but the low-cost airline does offer many different routes: there are flights from London Stansted (the busiest European route to Bergamo in 2013), Birmingham, Manchester, as well as seasonal flights from Bristol, East Midlands, and Leeds/Bradford. Ryanair also offers connections to numerous other destinations around Europe. Lots of other smaller and budget airlines such as Wizz Air and Mistral Air also operate from Bergamo Airport.
Despite Bergamo Airport's compact size (the airport only has one terminal) it is the fourth busiest airport in Italy. The airport building is easy to navigate: check-in desks and arrivals are located on the ground floor, and departures on the first floor. In case you have any questions or concerns, you can also contact the help desk in the arrivals hall.
The desks of on-site car hire companies are located inside the arrivals hall. As you leave baggage reclaim you should head to the left to find the desks. Some off-site suppliers, such as Goldcar, have a shuttle service to their offices. Please check the name of the supplier as well as any instructions on how to find the company's desks in the Terms and Conditions before you finalise your booking online. This information is also printed on your voucher. The car park for rental cars is after the airport car parks A to E. A shuttle service, running about every 15-20 minutes, will take you to the car park. Alternatively, if you do not have too much luggage, you should be able to walk to the car park in about 10 minutes.
Check the name of the rental supplier carefully on your voucher. You can find the name of the company under the "Pick-up information" and "Drop-off information" boxes. Auto Europe does not have any local offices or its own cars, as we are a broker, not a supplier. The supplier of your rental is the one whose desk you should go to. One such supplier is called Auto Europa/Sicily By Car. Though the name of this supplier is similar to the name of our company, Auto Europa and Auto Europe are not the same firm. Only go to the Auto Europa desk if they are noted as the rental company on your voucher.
