Gatwick Airport is comprised of a North and South Terminal. Use the free shuttle service to travel between terminals. Please note that there will be no flight calls at Gatwick Airport so you will need to pay extra attention to the big screen announcing boarding times.

South Terminal handles most of the air traffic and is known as the main terminal. It also hosts British Airways flights. On the other hand, North Terminal is an expansion and the result of an ongoing effort to enhance the airport operation. Home of the biggest air bridge to suit passengers' needs, North Terminal consists of two check-in levels with both of them offering cafés with readily available snacks with only one newsstand kiosk in Zone E near the check-in desk. The Departures Area, on the other hand, offers a range of eating, drinking, and shopping options, alongside a free children's playground as well as a place for free charging of your mobile phone. If you are flying from South Terminal, you will have a wide variety of services including self-service check-in desks, shops with souvenirs, luxury goods and duty-free items, and several restaurants.

    Airport Facilities

London Gatwick Airport has numerous facilities to make waiting for your flight easier. Besides the standard dining and shopping options, the airport offers excellent premium services for frequent flyers. If you are flying often and the excitement of the journey has already worn off, you could take advantage of priority passport control to speed up the process. Businessmen will profit from superbly furnished executive lounges with high-speed internet, meeting rooms, and work stations equipped with telephones. Everyone is welcome to relax and pass the time in one of the modern lounges with most of them offering food already included in the price and some even listing spa treatments in their offer. Travelling with children is an easy task at Gatwick Airport. To shorten your wait and spend some quality time with your children, head to one of the kids zones with toys and TV sets. They are free to use.

How to get to and from Gatwick Airport

You can easily access Gatwick Airport from London and nearby towns by car, coach, train or bus - the choice is yours. We recommend collecting a car hire from Gatwick Airport for added flexibility on your travels.

The terminal buildings are interconnected with a free shuttle service that runs seven days a week round the clock. Opt for a shuttle bus to London or a train leaving from the Gatwick railway station located next to the South Terminal. It provides a direct connection to Central London and numerous other UK cities. You will find that Gatwick Express also provides nonstop service between London Victoria Station in central London and Gatwick airport. Other bus options are also available on the ground level of the Arrival halls. To find out more about routes and traffic regulations, see our UK driving information page.

    Parking Tips

Long-term and short-term parking is available at the airport, but it is best to book in advance as parking is often limited during the summer months and Christmas time. Parking and hotel packages are also available for cheaper rates and more convenience during travel.

Go for premium short-term parking for stays up to five hours if you are in a hurry and benefit from the automatic access to the security zone. This option may be slightly more expensive but it will definitely shorten your waiting time.

Alongside the premium service at Gatwick, you will have the standard long and short-term parking, valet parking and a meet and greet option at your disposal. The latter is equipped with professionals who will park your car and return it to you upon request.

Finding a car park in London, on the other hand, can be challenging, especially in the city centre. But you can plan ahead by paying the London Congestion Charge. If you rent a car from Gatwick Airport and plan to drive to London, check out car parking companies at your destination - the Parkopedia website provides you with all the information you need.

Commercial car parks are indicated by a white letter P on a blue background. National Car Parks (NPC) operates up to 100 car parks. It also offers a limited number of disabled spaces, which are charged at full rates. Q-Park is a good alternative, running 14 car parks in Central London with secure entrances and customer toilets. By pre-booking, you can save on the regular parking fee. Very handy when visiting London: At Q-Park, free umbrellas are available.

Parking restrictions generally apply between 8.30 am and 6.30 pm Monday to Saturday. However, be sure to check the signs for detailed information. In London, the "Pay & Display" schemes are widespread. Simply purchase a ticket and display it on the dashboard or windscreen of your car. If your car is not parked according to the local parking or traffic restrictions, you will be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).
