The main passenger terminal building at Krakow Airport sevres domestic as well as international flights all-year-round, 24 hours a day. Opened in 2014, it is large and modern with all the facilities and amenities spread over two floors, with a third floor mostly used as an observation deck. On the ground floor you will find the check-in desks for departing passengers along with several ATMs and a post office. The arrival lobby is also located on the ground floor, together with baggage reclaim. On the first floor, passengers pass through security and passport control before entering the departures lounge where many of the airport's main facilities are located, including a children's playground, Duty-free shopping areas and the main car hire desks.
Krakow Airport boasts an extensive selection of services and amenities, with several ATMs, bureaux de change, a tourist information desk, car rental desks, restaurants, shops, private airport transfers, a chapel, business lounges and VIP services. Despite a large increase in traffic in recent years, getting through check-in and security at Krakow Airport is still relatively speedy compared to many other large airports in Europe. Many of the cafés, restaurants and bars are located in the main passenger terminal, as well as the shops which consist of a cosmetics store, tobacconist, sweet shop, large Duty-free area and news-stands. Besides a chapel, other on-site services include a post office, first-aid station and baby-changing facilities. The airport has its own exit off the A4 motorway which skirts the city centre, and generally speaking the transfer time to and from the airport is around 20 minutes outside the rush hour. With a journey time of around 20 minutes, a train connects Krakow Airport with Krakow Train Station between 5am and 10.30pm with departures every 30 to 60 minutes (please note that in winter the trains run less frequently). During the day, bus routes 208 and 252 connect the airport with the city centre and at night bus number 902 runs throughout the small hours between the airport and the city centre. The airport also has its own 'Krakow Airport Taxi' service with vehicles waiting outside the main terminal exits.
If you rent a car at Krakow Airport, the chances are you'll want to drive into the city and start visiting its main tourist attractions. The first thing to know is that street parking in Krakow is paid from 8am-8pm Monday to Saturday. A popular option is to park your car inside a 19th century fortress just north of the Old Town at Nowy Kleparz with direct access to trams into the centre. Another good choice is the underground car park with 150 spaces located right on the Aleja, in front of the main branch of the National Museum. At Krakow Airport, short-stay and long-stay car parks are available for anyone travelling in and out by car. A drop off, pick-up zone called 'Kiss&Fly' is available directly in front of the terminal, but please remember that drivers are not allowed to leave their vehicles unattended and have up to 10 minutes of free use after which you will be charged for every 10 minutes. For longer stays, a multi-storey car park (P1) is sited directly opposite of the main airport terminal. Long stay car parks (P2 & P3) are also available nearby. Ticket payments are via machines within the multi-storey (P1) car park.
