Airport Information

Serving Western Australia, Perth Airport is the fourth-busiest airport in Australia in terms of passenger traffic with around 15 million movements per year. The airport has alonghistory; in 1943 its first runway was built by Western Australia's Main Roads Department for RAAF fighters, with a second strip being laid down a year later. It is located very close to the city, just 10 kilometres (6 miles) east of Perth's central business district and is one of three commercial airports in the Perth metropolitan area, the others being Jandakot Airport and Rottnest Island Airport.

Terminals

Perth Airport consists of four main terminals. Terminal 1 is home to both international and domestic, while 2,3 and 4 cater for mostly domestic traffic. Terminal 4 is independentely operated by Qantas and other airlines share 1, 2 and 3. Perth Airport has a fairly large range of facilities. Here you will find airport lounges, a children's play area (within the T1 International departures terminal), foreign exchange, information desks, duty-free and a large range of eateries and bars. There are a number of automatic teller machines (ATMs) located throughout Perth Airport’s terminals, both before and after security screening. Free Wi-Fi is available in terminals 1, 2 and 3. There are two dedicated spotting areas at Perth Airport. Terminal T1 has an Observation Deck on level 3 to view departing and arriving aircraft. Some airlines operating at Perth Airport have dedicated lounges for premium class passengers and eligible lounge members in the departure areas of each terminal. Lockers are available at all terminals for short-term storage of luggage up to six weeks. There are first aid facilities within the terminals and trained staff to assist should you become injured or fall ill.

How to get to and from Perth Airport

Perth Airport is well connected to Perth’s Central Business District (CBD) and beyond by regular public bus and train services. Airport Central Train Station on the Airport Line is just 18 minutes from Perth Station in the CBD. When arriving at Airport Central station to collect your car hire at Perth Airport, follow the signs along the Skybridge walkway to access either Terminal 2 or Terminal 1, the main one for international flights. Redcliffe Train Station on the Airport Line is only 15 minutes from Perth Station in the CBD and is just three minutes from T1 and T2 at Airport Central Train Station. Operating 7 days a week, bus number 37 will operate between Airport Central and Oats Street Station via Belmont Forum while bus number 940 operates between Elizabeth Quay Bus Station and Redcliffe Station via Great Eastern Highway. Taxis are available from both the domestic and international terminals. A taxi trip from the airport terminals to Perth city centre will take 20 to 30 minutes

Parking Tips

Perth has a variety of both free and paid parking options including multi-storey and open-air car parks and street parking options for visitors choosing to rent a car at Perth Airport. Driving into Perth's CBD and Northbridge will mean paying to park, which can cost up to 40 Australian dollars a day on a weekday. Note that there is also quite a lot of congestion on roads leading to the CBD during peak hours. Check the signs when parking in the street: if a sign states ‘fee payable’ or ‘ticket’ you must obtain a ticket for parking during the days and times specified on the signs at the nearest meter or ticket machines on the same side of the street. Perth Airport has centrally located car parks near all the terminals and the pricing differs depending on how close to the terminal you intend to park (please be informed that you can pre-book with cheaper rates by visiting the airport website).
