    Terminals

    Formerly known as H. F. Verwoerd Airport, Port Elizabeth Airport underwent renovation works in 2004, and is now capable of servicing up to 2 million passengers annually. It is also often referred to as a '10 minute airport', due to its central location - only 10 minutes from the city centre. Currently, the airport receives only domestic flights. Being a compact airbase, Port Elizabeth makes your arrival or departure a hassle-free experience.

    Airport Facilities

    In the terminal building you will find financial facilities such as ATMs between arrivals and departure area, as well as currency exchange. The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Visitors Centre and information desk are in the arrivals hall. A post office can be found in the departures area. There is a selection of coffee, sweets, and gift shops in the departures part of the terminal building, as well as a restaurant on the first floor of the departures.

    Transportation/How to get to the airport

    There is no rail or all day bus service to or from the city centre. However, the airport is so close to the centre of Port Elizabeth, that a taxi is your best choice. There are airport approved taxis marked with the ACSA logo; these taxis leave from outside of the terminal building. There are also mini-bus taxis, but only take one if you are familiar with the local area, so that you know which stop to get off at.

    If you are driving from the airport to Port Elizabeth centre, take Alister Miller Drive, also called M11, when you leave the airport area. Continue on M11, when you reach Forest Hill Drive turn left. Drive until you reach a T-crossing with M9 and turn right. Continue driving until you reach large street lights crossing and turn left to M4 to enter the city centre.
