Car Hire at Prague Train Station - Discovering the Czech Republic

Known locally as Praha Hlavni Nadrazi, Prague Train Station is the main transport hub in Prague and the busiest railway station in the Czech Republic. Located just 5 minutes’ walk from Wenceslas Square and 15 minutes from the Old Town Square, the station first opened in 1871 with its magnificent Art Nouveau edifice being added at the beginning of the 20th century. Split across many levels and divided into different areas, the building has undergone major renovation work with many of its original features such as the impressive dome and exquisite stained-glass windows having been well preserved.

Designed by the famous Czech architect Josef Fanta, the existing Art Nouveau station building and station hall were built between 1901 and 1909 on the site of the original Neo-Renaissance construction. The station was extended with the addition of a new terminal building in the 1970s, a project that included a metro station and large car park in close proximity to the station concourse. In 2011, a partial refurbishment of the station was completed by the renowned Italian company Grandi Stazioni.
