" There was some outage at the Hertz counter when picking up the vehicle. We had to wait for about 40 minutes in a queue of customers to get to the desk. When we got there, it was relatively quick. On return of the vehicle, there was a single staff member in charge of all returns and we had to wait for about 15 to 20 minutes which added quite a bit of stress to the journey as we had a flight to catch. " Car hire costs have crept up significantly these past couple of years. I'm not convinced of the reasons given and believe it's just making up for lost income during COVID. Also, our flight times in and out meant that we needed a car for 8 days and 2 hours. But not possible to rent for a couple of extra hours, has to be a whole day. Why? Makes no sense other than financial gain for renters and it's a rip off. We elected to wait an hour after landing and arrive an hour earlier for our departing flight rather than pay for 9 days but whichever operator deals with this issue will gain business I am sure. "

" I am disappointed that having phoned Auto Europe to request snow tyres this request never reached Dollar in Chambery. We therefore had to cut short our last day of the holiday to sort out snow chains on the car why I was extremely time consuming and stressful . My belief is that the operative at Auto Europe did not pass on the request to Dollar hence why I would not recommend AE to a friend as customer service is very poor. Tried to sell me extra insurance at the counter, despite me already having taken out the excess insurance through Auto Europe. Tried to imply to me that this policy would not be valid as they don't use 3rd party agents. Car (Renault Captur) was poor and under powered, so much so that it struggled to get up hills with 4 passengers and luggage. Return of the car, however, was efficient. "

" On arrival at Nice airport, there were no signs for dollar or auto europe. It was only by chance we discovered it was part of hertz. We spoke with staff of our journey through France and the distance we would cover to our destination in Chartres. Upon arrival in Chartres I was informed that there was a 750km limit on the car and we had to pay an extra €240, on top of the rental fee, one way fee, additional driver fee. " Resist the thought of filling up on return at the Filling Station directly behind the Rental Centre. On a relatively quiet Saturday there was a queue stretching well back into the exit roads. I spotted a Total Station on a dual carriageway near the Nice Stadium [ northbound ] when driving south towards Airport. May be a better option! "
" Would use Hertz/Dollar/Thrifty now in preference through Auto Europe. All charges were fully quoted and explained - especially Fuel policy. Choice of suitable vehicles was offered. Counter supervisor spoke excellent English so no need to break out my broken French. Proximity to Terminal 2 - Easyjet and Ryanair flights - of the Rental Centre. "

" I picked up my car during very heavy rain and poor light so was unable to inspect the car properly. The next morning i discovered that my car was damaged and uncleaned. The wing mirror drivers side was very badly cracked and I tried to report this. I telephoned the pick up desk several times and told that the person was too busy to deal with my complaint. I was promised a call back but never got one. So, rather than making more calls I struggled with it for the rest of the holiday. On returning the vehicle I was made to feel very uncomfortable. The man at the desk admitted that the car had not been checked and cleaned before I took it due to the heavy rain. This does not inspire me with confidence. "
