    Driving Licence Requirements

    The driving licence requirements in Iceland state that you must be at least 17 years old and have a full driving licence valid in your country of residence. It is recommended to have an international driver's licence.

    Age Restrictions

    To hire a car in Iceland, you must be at least 20 years old (age may vary by car category) and have held your license for 1 year. Drivers under the age of 25 may incur a young driver surcharge.

    Tolls

    There are no tolls in Iceland. However, there is a toll of approximately ISK 1,000 to use the Hvalfjord Tunnel.

    Parking Information

    Parking metres are a common sight in the centre of Reykjavik, most of them offering a two-hour limit. There are a few parking garages for your car hire in cities such as Reykjavik, but they are not as common elsewhere in Iceland.
