" In the past I have only good experience with Auto Europe booking through both the UK and European web sites. The web sites are easy to use and the follow up prior to the start of the rental was always appreciated. "
" After my previous rental with First Car they tried to charge me for a new windscreen even though the car condition report prior to the rental showed a chip in the windscreen from which a crack formed. After referring First Car to the original car condition report the reversed the debit on my credit card, apologised, and promised a better service for my next rental. On my arrival in Durban the staff had no record on their system of the problem experienced with my previous rental and as they claimed they did not have the Toyota Etios at the depot they could only offer alternatives. Later in the car park I saw a Toyota Etios there, but the attendant told me that it was already ordered, I could only assume that cars booked through your company were not given the same service as direct bookings with their company. I had eventually agreed to take a Suzuki Swift but after spending time checking the condition report, loading suitcases I found the radio didn't work, so I had to start the check out from the beginning and was only offered a Ford Figo with over 35,000 Km and multiple defects marked on the body and only 3mm of tread left on all tyres. I have been using First Car Rentals in Durban for several years now but from the reception area it would appear that First Car has now become part of Sixt car hire and can only assume that this change in ownership has resulted in the problems I have experienced with my last two rentals with the through your company. " I hired car for dates beginning 21/12/18 and drop off 10/01/19, due to Gatwick airport being shut ( beyond my control) my flight was delayed by 3 days and i was requested to pay for the days i did not use the car. I think it was very unfair, and was then given a car that could not climb a hill. It had an engine of a grass cutter. On Christmas day i then had to go to Hertz , but was told there was no car available.One was then delivered to me , which i was grateful for. However what about the days the car was parked in the parking lot and not used! but i had to pay for. I am a regular traveller, hope to have some feed back. I have scored you guys high as negative reviews will not be good for your company. "

" Had a problem with tyres pressure which kept dropping & needed to be pumped every now & then!..The charging socket/ cigarette lighter point was not working, which was such an inconvenience especially if we were traveling longer distances with flat phones. These were reported but we did not get any help "
" The overall experience was very good, nice car & very nice to drive! The only downfall & inconvenience I experienced was about the last 2 weeks of rental, whereby the car was meant to be returned back for a service but they did not have a replacement car! I also reported that the in car charging point was not working, so, our mobile phones could not be charged at all, when we were out & about in a car! Also the inconvenience we encountered was the tyres, since day 1 of taking the vehicle, they were displaying "low tyre pressure". & when I let the office know, they said it was due to the weather! So, the tyres needed pumping every now & then throughout the rental period. "

" Disappointing. Our last few experiences with Auto-Europes assosciates have not been good and my opinion of them is going down. "
" The car we had reserved (VW Combivan) was not available when we arrived in Durban. The so called "upgrade" was an uncomfortable and cheap Toyota Quantum, admittedly with more seats, but no frills and no power in the engine or suspension. It had 97000 kms on the clock so well used. The whole process of collecting the car took ages though the assistant was very polite and helpful. "

" Effortless pick-up and return with pleasant staff who were willing to assist with all matters. Unfortunately the car was subjected to some malicious damage during the rental (not an Auto Europe or First Car Rental problem!) but the outcome is awaited. Although this was a problem the rental company was clearly not responsible but I hope that they act in a suitable or reasonable manner since any damage was not as a result of my actions. "

" The price offered was reasonable, as was the 'excess insurance' package. The booking procedure was straight forward. Just a pity about the practices of some rental companies! "
" Mostly the experience was good and was provided with a better car than expected. Though, not having driven a vehicle with 'autto stop/start" before, it have been good to be forewarned/explanation. The major disappointment was on returning the car, they later tried to charge me for fuel, when I had refilled it across the road! (They have since agreed to refund this.) This seems to be common practice at Durban airport as I have had another well known rental try it on before! Pity, as it spoils the ext! "

" Bad experience. Very costly and things were not explained in full before rental and payment of the car. Strange how the deposit and hold of excess is deducted straight away yet the refund takes 7 - 14 days for International bank cards "
" Not a great experience for my first car experience. Firstly the wrong card was debited and i had to wait 2 weeks for my credit card to be credited. Now I need to wait 7 - 14 days for my deposit to be refunded and additional to that a R500 valet fee is charged for sand, wgich was not specified initially prior to collection. The car radio reception was shocking and the size of the boot was not ideal. "

Doors same problem, clutch very high before taking and slow to start, however once driving in higher gear moved well. Would definitely not use a Toyota Etios again. "

" Generally a very good service. However, it took a long time to collect the car with endless forms to complete, despite providing Auto Europe with much of the information required weeks in advance. The VW Vivo was excellent (except for manual-wind windows), the air-con was fabulous and the boot was big enough for two cases and two rucksacks. I was disappointed that I was required to pay R800 for dropping the car off at a different airport despite driving the car half way back to it's original destination. A R400 fee would have been fairer. "
