" Very slow service for picking the car up. I had to wait best part of an hour to be seen even though there were only 3 or 4 people in front of me. There seemed to be IT issues, but even so there weren't enough staff on for one of the busiest days of the year. When I was finally seen, I was given one of the most beaten up hire cars I've ever received... The list of damage was nigh on comedic - dents, scratches, and even missing part of a door handle. Whilst checking the car I (incredibly) found additional damage, but the staff weren't very interested... I asked if there was an alternate vehicle; there wasn't. In fairness, the car was OK beyond the surface damage despite having high miles. However, it flashed up daily that it was due an oil service, and that the key fob battery needed replacing, which definitely gave the feeling of the vehicle not being well maintained. Drop off was fine though - was met by a staff member, the vehicle checked / signed off immediately on return. "

The staff members parting comment was that he had our credit card details and he could now take money from us without our consent. We felt very threatened and we did not deserve this treatment. If you need the extra payments to make a profit increase your prices don't come up with nonsense arguments and encourage threatening behaviour. "

The system works well with the opportunity of doing the bureaucratic details online in advance a particular positive. As far as I can see the information about the available cars is detailed and largely accurate with competitive pricing. On this occasion it's difficult to imagine a smoother booking and pick up process. "
" I've used Budget several times recently and mostly with very positive experiences. This largely fell into that category. Girona isn't the best place to rent a car as there is an irritating walk to the rental locations and on this occasion a minor hiatus at the check in desk as a rental novice was patiently talked through the process. As I'd checked my details online a slightly elongated wait was a bit irritating but I was restored to good humour by a really pleasant and efficient woman at the counter. The car was a Kia which met our needs although for me it didn't convince as a driver's vehicle. It had very light steering which on the bends I thought oversteered requiring regular adjustments. Of course that might have been me being used to a very precise steering automatic at home! The drop was excellent too. Very straightforward and quick with the bonus that, in heavy rain, your counter guy put us in the car and drove us to the departures. Can't speak highly enough about your counter staff on this occasion. "

Luckily I took pictures of receipts and at the petrol station. Hertz refunded the money but I'm not sure how this would have gone if there had been no proof from my side. "

There are a number of problems listed below: 1) a warning light is on stating that the vehicle needs a service immediately. Surely this is dangerous an unacceptable! 2) warning light is on saying that 2 of the tyres have low pressure again dangerous (I have had to stop and put air in to make it safe). 3) the general condition of the car is terrible. - there are marks all over the exterior of the car. (Not an issue for me but please note that this is very different to your condition report. I have not made these marks). See attached photos. - the inside of the car is very dirty and doesn't look like it's been cleaned. There is cigarette ash on the seats, tobacco, sticky marks on the dashboard, doors and seats. I am taking guests to a wedding and shouldn't have them sitting on this dirt. See attached photos. 4) The fuel tank is nearly empty. I will replace the fuel that I use but not return full as it was not full when I collected. And to top it all off I have been charged a fine for not returning the car with a full tank of fuel and it wasn't even full to start with. The agent that I am in contact with is refusing to process a refund. Over all very disappointed. Worst experience of customer service I've ever had. A real shame. "

" I have already written to SIxt but have had no response. - so will write to you now. When we arrived (my sister-in-law and I) had booked 2 cars for 9 family members - we were shown to a Peugeot 208? which was badly scratched along the front bumper - 40 cm or more and the undercoat was showing through. We asked to see other vehicles in the same class and we were shown ONE - again not impressed - as we needed two. An upgrade was suggested by the Sixt rep Sergei/Vincente who was keen to sell us un upgraded model. We were shown alternatives and he said my sister-in-law could have a VW T-ROC for 5 euros a day. He told me quietly, that if she took the deal - I could have an upgrade for 3 euros per day. She agreed and we went in to the office. He then added 21% tax to the price - she said no and we were back where we started. We went around the car park again and suddenly he announced a nice little Citroen ws in the same category. She took it and this left me with the scraped Peugeot or an upgrade. As nothing was available I took the upgrade (Sergei/Vincente had now agreed to remove the 21% tax. We were also 'pushed' to take his/Sixt insurance - even though we had taken insurance through Auto Europe. He told us that this wasn't wise and that we were only partly protected and that we should speak directly to him next time when we arrived. On drop off - the rep (no name) was much more professional. Not a great experience and you end up spending your holiday thinking - what charges will I be getting when I return the car. Not recommending or using Sixt on future trips - may even put my experience on my facebook and twitter accounts! "

" The counter staff at Interrent told me they didn't accept American Express for the card block required on this booking, even though this if the payment method used to make the booking in the first place. It seems very unlikely that they would not accept this method of considering it's an international airport. Additionally there was no information provided by Interrent, Gold Car or Auto Europe to say this payment method was not acceptable, if this is in face true. People not happy with the car they had just been given and others like me waiting to pick up a car and get away from the airport. Due to the pressure the girl was under I left with just the car key. This was very unsatisfactory and we did notice one mark/scratch on the front bumper that was not marked on the diagram in documents. However, on inspecting the car before we set off there was quite a lot of scratches and marks all over it. I asked for your representative to inspect the car with me, which he did and he took photographs at that time. He also took a photograph of the mileage, which I thought was a little strange and I assumed this would have also been done prior to rental My point would be that I, the customer should not have had to point out these marks and the vehicle should have been properly inspected by budget before rental. I called the number highlighted on the rental document 90minutes after leaving and was advised to fill the car with fuel take photos showing the kilometres and keep the receipts then return the car full in accordance with the full to full contract when the refund could be made at the desk. Although the assistant accepted the receipt and photo evidence she was unable to process the refund as the system was not set up for this eventuality. I was advised to call the number again as soon as possible which I did from the departure lounge - unfortunately the assistant advised that he could no5 help as I had called Europcar and not Inter Rent - the number is printed (and highlighted) on the Internet Rent document holder in addition the assistant at the counter confirmed that it was the correct number to call. I know need to find the correct number to pursue the refund. "

" The counter staff member was absolutely awful and made us question our first ever visit to Spain after treating us like rubbish and not at all like paying customers. He pushed us aside of the queue just because we complained about the speed of service after waiting 2 hours just to get the car. He changed our order on the spot, charged us for services we didn't need and threatened to cancel the car if we complained or raised any concerns. He was a horrible and inconsiderate man. However if we paid €74.24 as well as €70 (as advised in my Autoeurope contract )for permission to drive in France , then this clause would not apply and the €74.24 would be refunded if the car was returned to them.
