I was unable to use my debit card instead and so was unable to collect and use the car I had paid for. I had to go to Budget (who would accept debit card payments) and pay a much higher price because I was a 'walk-up' customer and had not pre-booked. In future I would book a Budget hire via a price comparison site, but will never select Hertz again because of the lack of flexibility to accommodate my circumstances. "

I insisted that he check the car and the full tank of petrol which he eventually did but at the same time started to help another customer not just once but twice, I wasn't pleased at all and told him that he should deal with one customer at a time not slipping off to help another client. It also cost me 339 extra to take a slightly bigger car that was still much smaller than the Volvo shown when i booked. This is totally unacceptable A Smart car is MUCH SMALLER than the Volvo C40 shown when i booked. I feel totally ripped off and over charged "
" I booked an electric vehicle for 5 people with 3 cases. The vehicle shown was a Volvo V40. On arrival at Hertz they gave me a TINY SMART car which was far too small. They then said the only other option was an Opel Mokka. To add insult the Hertz staff charged me an additional 49.90 per day. (with reluctant 15% discount) A total of 339. This made the car extremely expensive and a rip off. I will NEVER use either company again UNLESS i am refunded some of the exorbitant cost "

" Rental of Electric Vehicles present some issues to experienced EV drivers. No specialist advice was given. I will avoid in future because of this. "
" The booking was for a large car. All vehicles of this category with Hertz were full electric vehicles. I did not see this as a problem as I drive an EV. However, although the check in desk was efficient I was informed that the vehicle had to be returned with at least 75% charge. There is no charging facility at the Hertz pick up/drop off zone! When I collected the vehicle no advice was given about existence or location of charging cables, arrangements for payment at charging stations of anything else for that matter. No one explained procedures for charging, unlocking the charging system, operation of the charging screen. Most EVs have individual systems which require basic instruction but none was given. I later found that the vehicle system was locked to prevent use of super fast chargers so my required 75% recharge took approx 3.5 hours. Not ideal for the return trip to the airport. There were no fast chargers in the ski resort we were staying in. Not a good experience overall. "

" I am trying to put a claim Auto Europes on-line claim portal. But amongst the many pieces of documentation required to be uploaded amongst - driving licence, rental contract, check out report, damage report and pictures..etc -, and I understand the need for the documentation is a credit card statement showing the Hertz charge to my credit card. But as all credit card statements are only issued monthly, and mine is not due for a while I am unable to completed the on-line claim at this time. Surely a screen shot from my Credit Card portal would suffice in the short term. "
" On returning the car to GVA Hertz employee walked around the car with my inspecting for damage using a torch. He confirmed that the car had been returned 100% okay and that the excess funds held on my credit card would be released. At which point our contract surely ceased. The car was then driven away, I assume for valeting, by your employee. " Good vehicle at fair price. I hired an electric vehicle thorough choice. The ticket I was given stated a per litre cost for filling if returned less than 75% - should be cost per KW. The last time I hired electric vehicle I was told just make sure I had enough electricity to return the car. Ensuring full to 75% shows poor knowledge of the mechanics of electric car recharging and difficult for hirers. The car will need to be charged anyway as the company says car will be provided >95% charged - the company should accept that 75% is difficult to obtain for return or just charge 'cost' as unlike liquid fuel every car will need to be 'refuelled' "

However, half way through the high, the battery in the key ran flat. Thankfully we were in a town and so managed to get a replacement battery. Perhaps in cars over 100,000 miles a replacement battery in the glove compartment wouldn't be a good idea. "

They did try to upsell insurance and questioned the extra insurance I had purchased through auto Europe when reserving. The only issue is the return of the vehicle, the garage is very tight and as they leave cars abandoned in the lane it is a nightmare to park, get out and retrieve belongings. "

" There were 2 people sitting at the counter, both just working on their computers and blatantly ignored me for about 5-10 minutes until I eventually asked whether they could serve us. The car was not an economy car - it was a small Cora which we had to SQUASH 1 standard-sized suitcase, 1 smaller suitcase and 4 people in to. The car had no power and although stated that it had winter tyres on it, was rather treacherous on the roads in the snow and ice - we did not feel safe at all and felt the car was sub-standard. We had previously used Hertz (through AutoEurope) in Geneva (Swiss side) the month before and the 2 cars (both economy) were chalk and cheese - you couldn't compare the 2. The staff were extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. "

" We ordered a manual economy 4-door, Ford Fiesta or similar. We got a Mitsubishi Colt auto. It's a smaller car than a Fiesta, the boot was tiny, and the automatic box was absolutely appalling. When I told the Hertz receiver that the box was awful he said yes, they are all terrible. Why do they use them? "

" There was an error concerning the 'additional fees to be paid locally' in the contract. The actual cost was higher than stated. The reason for choosing Hertz from the list of your suppliers was because of their lower additional driver charge. "
" It is a general comment about all companies and their 'additional driver charge'. It is exorbitant and is a tax not an insurance nor a service. Only 1 person can drive the car at any one time. The charge is arbitrary, inconsistent and is the same for all value of car; therefore it is not an insurance. It isn ofetn the case that the 'additional driver' never drives the car; it is in case of unexpected circumstances. It is often a high % of the daily rate, and then to add VAT to it when there is no 'service value' added' is not correct. If Autoeurope could negotiate 1 additional driver included in all their rates it would be a massive incentive for customers to use AE. The extra driver cost is always foremost in my thoughts. "
