" My flight was three hours delayed and I arrived at the Interrent desk 20 minutes after you cancelled my booking. The AutoEurope assistant was extremely unhelpful and told me I have lost the booking and will not be credited or refunded. I was then forced to rent a car at over twice the cost that you charged me so my total car rental experience was over EUR700. Will you please advise how you will help remedy this situation? " I have used AutoEurope for every car I've rented for the past 5 years at least. (So probably in the region of 10-15 cars) You always give me competitive prices and usually they are great. However it is al the additional extras, fuel policy, additional drivers and insurance that remain muddy and unclear. Which as a consumer is stressful and unnecessary. I believe the booking document should state clearly these three key issues so there can be no arguments/misunderstandings at the check in desk. The sooner the whole system moves to apps like Zipcar the better. "
" The staff were great, but in spite of me paying an additional fee on booking for 'enhanced insurance' there was no reference of this on the booking form and so was essentially invalid, meaning I was once again put in the position of having to consider paying an additional insurance premium at hire point. So I don't know why I bothered paying this to AutoEurope. The car was filthy and far more damaged than the form claimed meaning a 20 minute delay to find a staff member to inspect it and agree. Again very nice and polite but super busy with the check ins and check outs. It's a shame. I like interrent I've used them before at Nice, I like the fact they are away from the other rental cos and therefore often less busy. I appreciate it was a busy time in the middle of summer but more staff, clean cars and this ridiculous up selling of additional insurance at the counter should stop. 70€ for an additional driver seemed steep too (its not any additional days, petrol, insurance etc just a name on a form. It's a real shame especially as they seem part of Gold Car anyway. "

" When it comes to Auto Europe, I have neither negative nor positive opinions. A well-functioning website, clear, and simple formalities. Sometimes cheaper than in the other places offers for rent. "
" 70 minutes! Exactly 70 minutes, with a watch in hand, passed from the moment when I lined up a queue to moment when I arranged all the formalities and picked up the keys from the car. Never it has taken me so much time anywhere. I spent 45 minutes at the rental's office desk. For most of these 45 minutes I was alternately persuaded to purchase additional insurance or I was intimidated by the rental's worker different consequences that threaten in the event that I do not buy it and car will be damage. It was terribly unpleasant and intrusive. While I completed all formalities and picked up keys, on the parking it turned out that the car had a large dent above left tire and it is strongly scratched as well. I went to rental point located on the parking. Unfortunatelly, my request to change the car was treated like a whim. Rather unpleasant and unkindly employee explained brusquely to me that the car is fully functional, and the damage only affects the esthetics of the car. What I could say, theoretically, hard to opposite anything his words because the car actually could rode, but ... Summing-up: Already before I have came across many critical opinions about rental in Goldcar. Therefore that's why I was looking for a car to rent in another company. I decided to rental offer by InterRent. I did not know that InterRent and Goldcar are one and the same company. After this experience I will skip both. I feel badly served, neglected and cheated. Nothing was done to take care of my comfort and pleasant atmosphere. The staff of the rental company was surly - especially after my observed about the car damage, and unkindly. The only one thing to which pay attention was paid was the intrusive attempt to sell me additional insurance options and absurd in the price of the possibility returning a car with incomplete fuel tank. I will never use services Goldcar or Interrent again. "

The first conversation with auto Europe was not particularly helpful and Interrent even less so as they had no ability to contact the branch. A further conversation with Auto Europe was more sensible and helpful and in the end all was OK but this coupled with our difficulties in locating the location made a bad start to an otherwise great rental experience "

" The InterRent counter staff tried really hard to sell us additional insurances of various kinds and showed us their list of inflated repair prices which, they said, we would need to pay in the event of an accident or breakdown. They also explained that breakdown and roadside assistance were extras. Spoiled what otherwise would have been a reasonable experience. Perhaps the staff earn extra when signing up customer to use Interrent all inclusive / excess insurance. Also pushing us to upgrade to a higher specification car - which we did not need, only to find that they did not have the car category ordered and they upgraded us (for free). Presume the pressure was on to get us to pay for a higher category which they were going to have to supply. "

She that this insurance was not their insurance and would not cover us. She then proceeded to try and scare us by telling us how expensive any damage would be. She also tried to sell a filling up service saying there were no petrol stations near the airport. This is not correct. Her sales tactics were underhand, untruthful and left a very bad taste. " Absolute shambles of an organisation. The rental desk is very difficult to find for a start. I waited in the queue for around 45 mins to be served. Several of the people in front of me in the queue where having arguments with the staff about issues with their rental. When I got to the front of the queue the lady at the desk spent more time processing returned vehicles and couldn't serve me. When I was served she told me they didn't have the car I requested, they would give me an alternative. I'd requested an estate car because we were 5 people and needed the luggage space. She offered me a medium sized hatchback car that clearly wasn't what i'd requested or paid for and wasn't big enough for our party. She phoned goldcar to get them to bring an estate car along, "wait outside" she said. 15 mins later there was still no car so I went back inside, she phoned goldcar again, they weren't on their way yet. She had an argument with the guy on the phone and another 10 mins later they eventually brought a car along. The car they had brought wasn't the correct car she had requested so my paperwork didn't match the registration on the vehicle. I went back inside and she said just take the car, she would sort out the paper work. Unfortunately reading the reviews of this company online it seems this customer service is the norm with interrent and will never be using them again to rent a vehicle. "

" Need to iron out the issues of using certain credit cards to accept payment that are then not accepted at the counter on arrival. I was told to check my Terms and Conditions by the counter man, but it would never have occurred to check to see if the Credit Card I had used to pay for a service would be accepted as payment for the next part of the purchase. On arrival at the Interrent/Goldcar desk I was told they could not accept AMEX, and that this might mean the rental could not go ahead. Fortunately they were able to you my Visa Debit card despite it not being the card on the rental purchase. As it was a Debit card I was told they would have to take out £1000 from my account, for it to be refunded 8 - 15 days later. Not ideal at all - particularly when on holiday abroad. I asked them to explain where this was written and they showed me a piece of paper which showed the actual costs of repairs to the vehicle which is clearly not the same thing. After a couple of minutes of "discussion" I realised that the lady at the desk was not going to yield, so phoned Autoeurope direct. They agreed with me that the excess was €1100 and that my card would be blocked for €1250 to cover admin fees, as explained in my documents. At this point I asked to speak to the manager who l, having heard the discussion over speakerphone, agreed that I was indeed right. He was unable to explain where the €2000 figure came from. He apologised as begged for a 10 star review. I am not sure if it was a scam or a genuine mistake. However, please read your documents carefully. " I was told that on return I should enter the car park by the staff entrance. I was NOT told I would need a code. I was NOT told that, as it turned out, there was a code in very small print on the rental form. (I assumed there would be a system like number plate recognition.) As a result I couldn't enter the staff entrance and finally had to reverse out of it. I then entered the main car park and found myself stuck on the first floor. I ran up the ramps to the third floor to explain what was happening and the staff member treated me in a hostile and unhelpful manner when I asked for someone to come and help me. He even said to me (aged 68) 'You are an adult, sort it out yourself.' I then had great difficulty extricating myself from the main car park as the gate I was using turned out to be malfunctioning. Finally I got the car to the third floor. I very nearly missed the flight. I thought the way I was treated by the staff member who was so rude to me was a total disgrace. I can have control of how and where I park the vehicle to reduce the risk of theft, and have control over whether I drive in a fashion that minimises accidents. Having been informed that they undergo thorough preparation I received a vehicle that had a dirty boot, and 3 substantial damage areas as opposed to the single one marked on the paperwork. This took almost a half hour to rectify the paperwork after I returned to the office show them this. They took the necessary photographs etc and issued a document that they were only willing to email to me. I did succeed in obtaining a hard copy. Their behaviour was with bad grace. "

Do NOT use these companies. You (the client) may be honest, but they are NOT. As I result of my experience, if they choose to charge me for a two inch scuff on two wheel hubs on the driver's side, which were there before I took the car but not marked as damages by them initially, I will contest, because I did not cause them. The car has over 9,000km on the clock and has no damage. Such scuff marks are caused (as the lady in check-in rep exclaimed to kerbside parking. " Interrent is now part of GoldCar, I recently rented a car through GoldCar and despite the GoldCar representative confirming the car was returned in the same condition as when rented out, they tried to put a charge on my credit card of circa £220 for "damage" - which my credit card company disputed and the claim was rejected. So I am very wary of them and their sharp practices. Upon renting the vehicle I was provided with the normal pre-printed sketch showing the dents etc. There were 3 "x" on the document, upon looking carefully at the car I noted a further 10 scratches and dents. As I walked back to the rental office the representative (who saw me looking very carefully at the car) immediately said to me "Ah you noticed all the scratches and dents". He accepted all the additional "x's" I placed on the form without even inspecting the car; so I believe I was being set up for a large claim. Upon returning the car, I asked the 2 people there to confirm that it was returned in the same condition as when rented out - both said they did not have the authority and I would have to wait for their colleague. 10 minutes later he appeared and confirmed in writing there was no problem with the vehicle and wrote "RAS" on the form (French for returned OK). I would further add that after renting the car, they send an email with the original sketch re the condition of the car which of course is incorrect as they should send the sketch with all the marks, which is a little misleading and again bad practice (in my opinion). Given I have an annual zero cost excess insurance policy I have no problemu sing a cheap and cheerful company like Interrent and Firefly but it is the hassle factor which is annoying. But if you can put up with this, then paying 1/3 of the cost with Sixt etc. is good value. "

I have had terrible experiences with Goldcar and avoid them at all cost. Interrent have some serious work to do to gain customer trust "

Not only was that untrue, but they did charge me a €50 penalty! My complaints via the online form have gone unanswered and I am very unhappy. But it was such a bad experience, it makes me nervous about booking again. How can I know whether the car I book is going to come from the company I chose, and not one with an appalling reputation for cheating customers, like Goldcar. Why do you not indicate when another rental company will be dealing with the booking? Why do you even have companies like Goldcar on your site? Is there any hope that you can get me back the €128 that Goldcar cheated me out of? "
" Interrent's Marseille branch is operated by Goldcar, and it was a very different experience from the excellent one we had at Girona in August. As always, we booked with the Auto Europe Excess Reimbursement Coverage. The Goldcar staff member who dealt with me insisted that €3000 would be blocked on my credit card, of which only €800 would be reimbursed by Auto Europe in the event of damage to or theft of the car, unless I took out a Goldcar Super Cover policy at a total additional cost of €128, and that we would have no breakdown cover without this extra premium either. She laid it on thick that with the civil unrest in France and roadblocks in place, damage to the car was a distinct possibility, and generally made me feel so much at risk that I agreed to take out the extra cover - something Auto Europe cover was supposed to render unnecessary. SHe included extra covers in this ('Smart return' and Mega relax') which she did not inform me were separate items from the 'Super Cover'. I was also charged a diesel vehicle supplement, because the large car I was given was diesel, though the small one I had booked would have been petrol. After only 2 hours sleep, and with 2 tired and fractious children in tow, I was not thinking clearly enough to check the paperwork and resist her pressure. I now see that the Auto Europe rental documents clearly states that my liability for theft or damage was limited to €800, and that €800 would be blocked on my car, all of which would be reimbursed by Auto Europe in the event of a claim. So the Goldcar rental agent out and out lied to me, to con me into paying an extra 150% on top of the fee I paid to Auto Europe. I had deliberately avoided booking a rental from Goldcar because their Marseille office had so many appalling reviews on Trip Advisor et al, yet wound up being ripped off by them anyway. We would have spent significantly less money if we had rented a 7 seater automatic MPV from Hertz! "

" I'm absolutely disgusted with the way Interrent conduct their business and would never use them again. It has reinforced all the bad reputation that budget renatal companies get. The first issue I had was that I was told the car was only 5/8 full of fuel. I queried this and said that I was led to believe it would be full and that it could cause an issue when I return it. The car was absolutely filthy and I had to clean it with my hands to be able to take photos and note down all the damage which wasn't recorded on the sheet I was given. I then had to find a cloakroom to wash myself afterwards. Realising the potential problem with refueling I stopped at a service station 1 mile from the aeroport drop-off on my return. I was refuelling while my partner sat inside with the ignition on telling me when the needle got to 5/8 (what a hassle!!!). She told me to stop so I kept the nozzle in and went to see the needle. It was exactly on 5/8 but I said I was going to put a bit more in as I didn't want any problem so in went another 3 Euros worth. We had to wait around for 20 minutes before anyone helped us at the rental check-in which made us a bit concerned about time but all was good. He checked it over and said everything was fine and that the depoist would be automatically returned by the desk later. 3 weeks later to my amazement I just happened to be looking at my bank statement to see that Interrent had stolen 39.16 Euros from me with no warning or explanation. I queried this and eventually was provided with an invoice stating that it was a 'penalty' and 'charge' for underfuelling. Well this made me so angry as I knew 100% that there was more fuel in there than when I collected it. Why did the person who checked it back in not tell me when he could quite clearly see that it was meant to be 5/8 on the sheet he was writing on. Had he'd said something rather than telling me all was good, I would've been able to show him and disprove his apparent conclusion. There has been one of two possible things going on here, either the company policy of Interrent is to falsly record return fuel levels or secondly the check-in guy didn't give the needle long enough to rise to the correct level!!! Apparently the vehicle was on half full at 4/8 recorded on my return as documented on the copy of the check-in sheet which was given to me with the extra charge invoice. Strange how one mile up the road in the (flat) service station the needle was closer to the 3/4 mark than the 1/2. The fact it wasn't queried at check-in and the fact it got taken from my account leaves me with a very bad taste with this whole experience. Really shabby business practise which I made sure 100% that I wouldn't get caught out on. I will not only avoid Interrent in the future I shall make sure everyone knows what kind of business you are! All this could've been avoided if the car was full of fuel. To get there you have to take a bus to the other terminal (3 stops), then walk 10 minutes out past the nearby car parks to the far away car parks. It's on the top floor of a multi storey car park. Staff told me I didn't have zero excess insurance, despite paying autoeurope for it. They offered zero excess as extra for an additional 45 euros per day. The "zero excess insurance" was - apparently - just a deceptive sale technique from autoeurope to make me purchase the car hire through them. I have contacted them about it, and not yet had a reply after 2 days. We'll see if this is a genuine mistake or an actual scam. This 45 euros a day extra is for a duff fiat panda, btw. Car was filthy, covered in dents and scratches, and had low pressure tyre wanring on when I drove it away. Seems to have had a slow puncture, as it camoe on again after I refilled the tyres. Interrent then charged my credit card for around 500 euros "excess", which will incur fees because it's in euros and my account is in pounds. What a waste of time. "

" The only rental agency I have been with a security guy at the door. When I came in there was a heated conversation between a customer and the staff. The staff who dealt with me was polite though, but Interrent commercial practices are more than border line. They are very pushy for the customer to take their daily additional insurance (that they charge you around 25€) by scaring the customer (whatever happens to the car you will be charged, if you break down you will be charged, even to make you arrive 45 min your normal time upon return as you will be at the back of the queue etc but of course none of this will happen if you take their insurance). Once the keys were given to me, the staff told me the car was in perfect condition according to its system. I got to the car, scratches everywhere - like vandalism scratches you cannot miss and clearly not newly done, front bumber broken, inside of the car worn out and outside of the car extremely dirty. The car was in such a state that when I reported all my observation the guy basically ticked everywhere on the contract car Schematics. Also the car was very dirty (I also pointed it out and it got noticed on the contract) which I m glad I did as they charge you 180€ if it S return dirty... Last but not least, the car mileage on the contract was showing 38,000 kms but in reality had more than 41,000kms. Again as it is limited daily mileage had I not checked I would have faced an hefty penalty. Overall not satisfied and very very poor rental company, trying to rob customers from their money by any means "

" The car which I had booked was a petrol Peugeot 3008 or similar etc. Unsurprisingly I was told that this car was not available and was offered a diesel Citroen C4 Picasso. They then demanded a supplement of 17.50 Euros which they insisted was a 'diesel tax'. I later found out from reading Interrent's terms and conditions that the 2.50Euro daily charge is not a tax and only applies if a diesel is specifcally requested in advance and reserved. That was not the case and I should not have been charged a supplement when they were unable to provide the type of car booked. I request that this extra charge is refunded accordingly. They also blocked 147 Euros on my credit card for fuel. This is the first time a rental company has sought to do this in addition to the normal caution for damage. As it happens the tank was not quite full when I collected the car but I did not wish to return to the desk and delay our leaving the airport any longer. I returned the car with a completely full tank. They did confirm verbally on return of the car that no further charge was due, but I am concerned about online reports of various retrospective charges being made by Goldcar even when cars were returned with full tanks. "

" Firstly, the Interrent Rental Centre at Nice Airport is best described as chaotic. Every single Customer that I witnessed being dealt with, for the hour or so II was in there, had numerous problems, including myself. My reservation had been 'lost' despite producing the email confirmation/voucher as advised by Auto Europe, therefore a 'fresh' booking had to be created to cover my rental. Second, there was confusion about whom the rental company actually was - Goldcar seemed to be the hire company according to the new paperwork I had to manually complete on Thursday. Next, despite paying for my original booking, via Auto Europe, with my American Express Card as was advised by the rental centre staff that Amex was no longer accepted by Interrent - effective start of October. Luckily I had brought my Mastercard out with me, which I usually leave at home, and was able to use that for the rental deposit. (note: the deposit receipt was in the name of Goldcar...). I should have been advised of this change before I left the UK. After spending almost 30 minutes with the agent, I finally received my contract and keys, however unlike any other rental experience with Interrent (of which I have made around a dozen in the past two years) I was then expected to prepare the vehicle condition report myself, marking all damage (of which there was a great deal) on a form, then returning to the rental centre to have a duplicate made and countersigned. As noted, the car was in a terrible condition. I accept that at the end of a summer season, vehicles can have some damage however this car was not only scuffed, scratched and dented, it was filthy (it had not been cleaned following it's previous rental). All in all, this was an awful experience with Interrent - adding together all of the problems means I will not use them again as the potential costs-savings of such a low-cost provider is outweighed by such poor service. The car had only done 5-6000 km and as I was in the vicinity called at the rental desk at Toulouse airport to rectify the problem. There I found InterRent had merged with Gold Car. The Gold Car agent was less than helpful and suggested that it was my fault and my responsibility to top up the fluid as required indicating I had used it after only a handful of miles...! I told him that there was obviously a fault or that the car had not been properly checked before rental commenced and that I required a change. He initially refused until I insisted pointing out it was a matter of safety when he sort advice from a higher authority and a change was effected swiftly and efficiently. I've had poor experiences with Gold Car desk agents in the past and I'm sorry to see InterRent merge with them. "

I would recommend better explanation of where to go with reservations - the paperwork stated 'Desk in Terminal 2D' but there is no desk there, we looked and asked. It seems the desk is the rental pick up / drop off office between 2D and (I think) 2C - this should be much clearer as all other companies have a desk in the tunnel connection but not Interrent, so we checked in 2D as stated on the paperwork It's not that clear. " Great experience and would recommend taking out excess insurance. A bit difficult to find return location at Nice Airport as interrent at P6 Terminal 2 but not at main car rental return. Signage at airport vehicle entrance mainly points you to other main car rental firms at Terminal 2. "

" Although I had read some worrying comments about over-charging from the Toulouse Airport site, we had no problems, the bodywork was a bit dusty with the odd dirty mark but very clean inside. The only slightly annoying bit was there was no-one on duty in the car park for the drop off, so had to take keys to the office, so any post drop off damage caused by someone else is going to show up as my fault. " I called Auto Europe to cancel the order with Interrent and get a refund but Auto Europe insisted to find me a similar vehicle at the same price. They found a vehicle with Dollar and told me I have to wait few minutes to half an hour but Dollar made me wait 3 hours and they said this is the waiting time agreed with Auto Europe. After 3 hours Dollar charges me 160.97€ whereas the agreed price with Auto Europe was £76.16. I have shown them the voucher but they told me this commitment is with Auto Europe not with Dollar. I called Auto Europe but nobody answered the phone. Obviously at 9pm after about 4 hours of struggle I had no choice and I accepted their offer. I am very disappointed with Auto Europe as they did not respect the contract we agreed, I consider the over cost I have paid must be refunded by Auto Europe. Not only the first car booked was not reliable but nor was the second one and on top of that the cost was about twice the agreed amount. "

" I have used Auto Europe for many years (perhaps 15) and Interrent for several years through AE. However this was not the best experience. I hope that Interrent will take note and ensure that they hand out correct schedules of condition for their cars at the start of rentals. "
" I was told at pick-up that the car had some damage and that we should check the car and take photographs of any damage that was not recorded on the rental agreement. The car had quite a serious dent on the front wing that was not recorded. We did as instructed and took photographs of this dent and the other damage. Upon returning the car (with no damage caused by us) we were told by the attendant that the dent was not recorded on the rental agreement and that we would therefore have to discuss the damage back at the counter inside the airport. This created some stress for us, since we had had a long drive and we had a flight to catch - we did not have the time or energy to start arguing with Interrent about damage that we had not caused. We explained what we had been told when we picked the car up and showed the attendant the photograph that we had taken and he agreed after some further discussion that we had not caused the damage. However we felt that it should have been Interrent's responsibility to issue a correct schedule of condition for the car at the start of the agreement, rather than leaving the onus on us to prove that the damage on the car was already there at the start of the rental period. Of course we would ideally have pointed out the incorrect detailing of the damage to Interrent at the start of the rental, but it is a long walk from the counter to the place where the cars are parked and there were no attendants to talk to in the car - therefore reporting the damage at the start of the rental period would have been a time-consuming operation as it would have involved returning to the counter and (presumably) waiting for Interrent to find somebody who could accompany us to the car. "

The car was dirty (not washed) and the interior had marks on the upholstery and sticky marks where the handbrake / drinks holder was. I scratched the car on return because I had to go around the airport three times to find the right entrance for drop-off. I've been provided with a summary bill, but my excess insurance requires an official report (with pics preferebly) and a bill from the repair company outlining the work and costs exactly. Europcar customer service promised to reply to an email request for this within 14 days and have failed to do so. "

This was not mentioned on the voucher supplied by yourselves. I refused to pay the €7 euros, and when I returned the car, was initially advised that I would be charged the €14 for cleaning. When I said that I wished to take photos of the interior and exterior to prove that the car was brought back in a reasonably clean condition (that other hire companies would accept without any additional charges) the agent agreed not to charge for the cleaning. I think such charges should be made clear at the time of booking, as obviously it may affect which company you choose. I will avoid Interrent in the future. "

" At the time of booking I paid for excess insurance. However, at the Toulouse Airport InterRent counter I was informed that the excess insurance I had purchased would not cover me for minor damage, only for damage caused by a crash or theft. If I wanted zero excess for scratches, broken wing mirrors etc. then I would need to buy additional cover at a cost of €161 for the week. This situation was a surprise to me. Whenever I have purchased excess insurance in the past it has been comprehensive and I could not see any small print on my documentation to suggest that the cover I had purchased via the Auto Europe website was any different. If the excess insurance does not cover minor damage then I think this should be stated at the time of booking and clearly on the voucher. I was also surprised to be asked to pay an additional €35 for breakdown cover for the one-week hire. Is it not usually the car hire company's responsibility to maintain the mechanical soundness of the vehicle? This was a poor way to start my rental experience. I was left wondering if InterRent was trying to hoodwink me into paying additional charges that I did not need to, or if Auto Europe was not being transparent about these charges in order to secure my booking in the first place. " The most awful customer service I have ever experienced in my life regarding car hire. Floor matS removed so that the company then charge 154 Euros to so called clean the car. It was clean and I spent half an hour in 34 degree sun having eventually found the drop off, on my hands and knees with my wife picking up the individual grains of dust and grit with a damp flannel and fingers having been told it was unclean. This car was clean and the only way it would be cleaner is with a full valet. Being told it must be clean on pick up wasn't specified as needing to be valeted. Rude and inconsiderate staff on drop off and just the most disgusting experience with others, arguing similarly on drop off. "

" To start with the office was not easy to find, when we did find it after asking serval airport staff members it appeared to be close as staff members had all the doors closed and very few lights on. We were just about to leave when somebody opened the doors. We were then presurised it to taking an extra insurance which we were led to believe was complusary. When seeing the car in day light the next day it was very dirty, surprising when we were told we would be charged if we di not return it clean. Further issues when dropping the car back as we were not told that we had to use the staff exterance to the car park or were given the code. We ended up having to pay to get out of the main car and go in search of assisitance. There was then a long que at the drop off point. It ended up taking an hour to drop the car back. We have hired many cars from Nice airport and never had such a bad experience. We will be seeking advise to see if we are entitled to get the insurance money back. We are now lead to believe that is was not complusary. At the time we had no choice but to pay it as it was late and we had no other way of getting to our apartment. "

The only thing we had a problem with is that the car was quite dirty both inside and out. When I pay for a car for a few days, I expect to pick it up in immaculate condition. However, it was obvious that the car had not been cleaned after the previous users. I didn't say anything at the time as we were keen to get to our accommodation and didn't want to hang around a the airport waiting for a clean car. "

However later I then realised that the offer had changed the zero excess to about 1000 euro excess without clear indication at the offer point. We were asked to take the car to Car Park 2, however there were several barriers adjacent to one another labelled Car Park 2 only one of which would provide clear access to the relevant area to return the car. My rental car was dusty and dirty on the outside. I was told to take photos of any scratches or dents which were not marked on the paper - which I did as there were more. But due to the dustiness it was hard to see what was underneath. This all took time, and made me 1.30hrs late for my meeting. I would not rent from your company again due to these problems. Collection has to be a lot faster and the car has to be clean with the correct amount of dents/ scratches marked. "

Only slight issue is the distance to walk from Terminal 2 to the InterRent station in Car Park P6 top floor of Nice Airport , which in the heat can be hard. On return, much better to drop any passengers you have and all your luggage at the terminal first, then go and return the car, so you can walk back empty handed to the terminal "

" Really happy with my experience with Interrent. I liked that their office was away from the main car rental building as this gets incredibly crowded. The lady at the desk who we dealt with spoke fantastic English and was very friendly. My only negative comment was that we found it hard to navigate the car park (P6 3rd floor) when returning the car. It wasn't clear how to get the drop off once on the 3rd floor and there were cars and barriers in the way so we had to drive between parked cars and go the wrong way down 1 way bits of the car park (thankfully there were no other cars about or this would have been carnage) "

The car was received with 5/8 in tank even though our rental form said it was full. I informed an Interrent member of staff who told me to adjust on my sheet. After waiting for a while I went back to the desk and they tried to find the employee by calling him several times. I was told that there was no way to get the seat until he reappeared. The whole process meant that I was hanging around the car park for the best part of three quarters of an hour after having picked up the keys. The staff were not particularly helpful, didn't apologise for the inconvenience and made no effort to find an alternative solution to the problem beyond simply waiting until the missing staff member turned up. " The vehicle provided to me was externally very unclean, appeared no to have been washed in quite a while. Used the car for a week without incident. However the biggest problem was on the final morning. Upon loading the car in order to set off for the airport, the car failed to start. Fortunately I was staying with friends who had another car and a set of jump leads. We managed to start the car and drove to Bordeaux. Conscious of the fact that I needed to return the car full of fuel, I stopped at a filling station near the airport. After filling, the car failed to start again. Luckily, I was able to find another motorist with jump leads and restarted the car. We discovered that the cause of the problem appeared to be a loose battery lead. When I got to the airport rental drop off, I left the car engine running and told your staff member about the problem. He clearly didn't believe me because the first thing he did was stop the engine. Fortunately for him, when he attempted a restart, the engine fired, I can only assume that the battery terminals had expanded as they warmed up and therefore tightened the leads sufficiently to allow the engine to start. My biggest concern was his lack of interest. He had no intention of checking the battery leads even though I asked him to. I'm quite confident your next customer to use this vehicle could will run into the same issue. "

" I will be contacting customer services. We picked up vehicle around 11.45pm, the counter staff were uninterested and in a rush to finish their shift. We were given a car that was filthy both inside & outside. We went back into the office to ask to change & I was told abruptly no!! They came out to look over and said due to location open air car did not have to be clean outside, but did not have an answer for inside being dirty & windscreen unable to see out of. They said they would give us a free cleaning service?? When we left they drove off they immediately locked office door & drove off. When turning ignition on, hazard light came on in dash & doors highlighted that were open. Neither would go out!! Car grinded when driven & back door was not closing properly. The mileage was also near 30,000 so was not a nearly new car!! No checks were also carried out externally by staff. As late at night & no staff to contact we drive from Nice to Mandelieu la Napoule. The next morning we contacted customer services & were told we would have to take the car back, we said that we didn't feel safe to drive & having two children we were told we had to bring it back they would not pick up. Had to make the 30 min drive & wait in a 1 1/2 hr queue to change!! Although the staff on duty was a lot more attentive and understanding. I certainly would not recommend hiring from Interrent again. "

" I was given a much bigger car than I had hired and pushed into getting an extra insurance but I already had one. I agreed to take the extra insurance as I was very tired. It ended me not going to the see as the petrol with a bigger car was far more expensive than with a small car. It spoilt my holiday. I found Interent very dishonest. "

Was then asked if I wanted to take insurance to cover my excess - standard with all car hire companies so not surprised or but was rather shocked to be asked if I wanted to take out breakdown insurance. Really? If i'm hiring a car I don't expect to be responsible for footing the bill for mechanical breakdowns! The car itself was clean but was rather beaten up - covered in scratches and dings, that doesn't bother me but it obviously takes time to check all the marks on the car with those marked on the contract (every panel had something). Best thing about this company was the returns but even then we had to wait nearly 10 mins. Obviously a budget company in every way - will pay a bit more next time for better service. "

" the whole experience has been soured by the drop off and subsequent fuel charge - we were given a 1/4 full tank when we picked up the vehicle and I was sure that I gave it back in that state and the the person that checked the vehicle was happy with it - however I subsequently received a €25 charge for not bring it back with the correct charge and apparently they had to put €7 of fuel to bring it up to the level - I have to say that I thought this was ridiculous and just a scam to get additional revenue. This experience would certainly make me think twice about using Internet again. "

Despite me having Annual Car Rental Cover and paying £10 extra to Auto Europe for 2 days Reimbursement Cover the counter staff insisted they were inadequate and I should pay an extra 46 Euros for their own Interrent extra cover which I declined. 2. I had booked a car from 14:00 on 23/7/2018 but arrived early at 12:13 and was told I could have the car early if I paid an extra 10 Euros which I agreed to as long I could return it at the agreed time of 14:00 on 25/7/2018 but when I checked the contract I had to return it at 12:13 which was very inconvenient. 3. The drop off was very efficient and the Interrent representative said everything was good with the car and the 800 Euros deposit would be returned within a day or two. After 5 days I am still waiting for the 800 Euros charge to be removed from my credit card. "

" We had a problem picking up the car. Your voucher said proceed to Europcar desk, which we did, to find that the Inter Rent desk is not located there. It is in the domestic terminal at Marseille, which is very inconvenient, some distance from the Europcar office. Even if we had known where it was to begin with, it would still have been a long walk from the international terminal. The desk staff were very slow. When we did eventually get the hire arranged we found that the InterRent parking spaces were at the far end of the parking lot, so we had to walk about another 500m. InterRent charge extra for breakdown cover and for cleaning, which are really unavoidable and should be included in the basic rental charge. "

" See above. And when I came back to the airport to drop the car of the docket I had said go to P2, which I did. There were 4 P2 lanes with no instructions. I went up to a barrier and took a ticket to get in and then found myself forced to go up a ramp into a multi level car park. I got to the 2nd floor and realised I had to come back down again. Thankfully at least the ticket I picked up opened the barrier. So I end up outside heading to the wrong parking area and the only recourse with a plane to catch was to reverse down the out rank in the wrong direction which my wife had run down to stop any cars that might be exiting. Your companies are a disgrace and should have your licence revoked. "

Two staff taking about 45 minutes each to process each customer leaving those of us in the queue very frustrated since we just wanted to get on with our holiday. Your clerk talking to the woman in front of me in French so I can only wonder what on earth is taking so long to check documents hand over some keys. Only when I got to the counter did I find out. In not so good English your man spends 45 minutes trying to put the fear of god into me with persistent attempts to up sell me everything from excess insurance to extra accident cover to other things I did not understand. Excess insurance for about £160! I normally buy online before I go for a fraction of that cost but had this time forgotten. Had immediately debited EUR 270 to my credit card on day car picked for the rental notwithstanding that it had been paid for in full. The invoice claimed that there had bee a "cash/refund" but I have yet to receive any. 2. Had included in the EUR 270 a charge of EUR 30 for an "upgrade" which I neither asked for nor received. 3. Had slipped in a charge of EUR 20 for something called "Asistance Plus" which was never mentioned let alone agreed and I have no idea what it is for. "

" Absolutely appalling. Turned up late due to plane having to circulate due to fireworks on Bastille day and office was closed and no way of getting the car I had ordered. It was midnight and I was a single mum with 3 kids and no means for getting to our accommodation. All other companies leave a key or courier or some note! But not interrent. In the end I was forced to hire a car with Sixt who changed me 600€ for the week. So over 800€ spent before I had even arrived. Am not happy and will complain and take this further. On the Monday (as of course no one was available till then) I got French and automated voice mails from both Autoeuropa and Interrent. Have never had such rubbish service. Then finally I managed to get through and was told I had to complain via email as no one could sort this out on the phone. Terrible service and still going to seek compensation. Nearly ruined my entire holiday. "

" Am extremely surprised that Auto Europe would refer or recommend this company to any potential renter. The exterior of the car was absolutely filthy - so extremely difficult to check for existing damage. When this was pointed out at the time of rental, the response was that the cleaniless of the exterior didn't matter!! But make sure to vacuum the interior before return. We were also informed that if the car was defective in any way and broke down and was undriveable through no fault of ours, it was our responsibility to sort out a breakdown recovery and arrange for car to be repaired but we would not be supplied with a replacement car!! When questioning this we were then informed that this could be avoided if we paid a sum of money!I I have regularly used many car hire companies in Nice airport over the past twenty years and on the odd occasion that there has been a mechanical/technical problem with the vehicle the company in question has been extremelty helpful in fulfilling their part of the contact. (Still waiting to see if they try and charge us for these). Petrol was documented as 5/8 full, but was in fact only 3/8. Excess is €1200 euros and zero excess cover was €140 for 8 days (we have annual excess cover from a 3rd party which cost £40). Overall very unsatisfied "

" The car itself was fine but check-out was very slow. I had to queue for over 45 minutes and, even though the car was pre-booked, it still took 20 mins to complete the paperwork and formalities. It didn't help that the woman vehind the counter kept disappearing into the back room for no obvious reason and without explanation. I wanted to go overnight from France to Italy and before I left I was quoted an extra €8 per day to take the car over the border. When I got to the desk, however, they insisted on charging the extra daily rate for the whole 10-day hire period, not just the two days I wanted to leave France. Consequently I decided to change my plans and stay in France, but when I got home I discovered that they charged me the extra anyway: yet more hassle as I try to resolve this blatant theft. "

" Firstly we got a car that was smaller than the one we had paid for. We had booked a "Fiat Punto" or similar, and we got a smaller Fiat Panda. The car was dirty on pick-up, this was noted on paperwork. We dropped it off clean, of course. The brakes were wearing out, as they made a noise every time you touched the brake pedal. They will need replacing soon. The oil level was low, and so on a tight corner the warning noise went off to alert you to a low oil level. I do not think the cars are maintained very well at all. Certainly not to the level I would expect from Europcar or Hertz, etc "

" The pick up was slow and confused, with only one man at the desk. He couldn't find our keys so sent us out to get them from another company's desk in the carpark. We were given a much smaller car than we had booked. We couldn't wait to exchange it as the queue at the desk was extremely long. We were asked to valet the car before we returned it ( or pay to have it done by interrent, which we agreed to do) then when we got to the car it was filthy on the outside. On the plus side Tthe interrent rep that we returned the car to in Toulouse was lovely and very efficient. We had already had a poor experience with interrent on an earlier leg of our journey (the interrent rep in Rome airport damaged the car while she was checking it back in and then tried to blame us for the damage!) so we would never use them again. " Hired a Fiat Punto for 15 days. Not at all clean inside (including a McDonald's chip on floor of rear footwell) but didn't notice this until after we'd left the compound. Given that conditions warn of charges for unclean returns, I had to clean it all through myself. Lots of minor damage on outside but all listed. 57,000 km on clock - definitely at end of rental life. However, car performed reliably, and no issues were raised on return. You get what you pay for - cheap rate, cheap car. I feel that they use this to push you to pay for an upgrade and when you decline you then get the poorest car. Not much to commend Interrent other than cheap and does the (very basic) job. "

" The pick up place is inconvenient and difficult to locate. We then queued for 90 minutes in full sun, or inside a non air conditioned room to have our paperwork checked and the booking confirmed. It was the worst experience of picking up a car I have ever had. The car though was new and in good condition, so it was a shame that the pick up was so badly organised. "

" I hire cars regularly (c.8-10 times a year) from Toulouse. I do not understand why all the paperwork cannot be done in advance as my passport/credit card/driving licence/address do not change. "
" The collection experience was shambolic. Very slow and customers being sent to the wrong places. Some of the staff were very rude and unhelpful. IT system kept crashing. One staff told customer that if they kept complaining they wouldn't be allowed to have the car keys. Same staff pointed out queues at other hire Co's as if this justified delay. Nearly 1hr to collect a pre-booked car is ridiculous. I was only third in the queue. "

" When we collected vehicle we were told to return with same proportion of tank filled. The form said 6/8, though the car (a Twingo) only had 6 segments in fuel gauge of which 4 were lit. We returned with 4/6 full but have now been invoiced for fuel plus a fuel fill fine, total €35, with the invoice saying 5/8 full. This is disgraceful, and I've been unable to find an email address I can contact them on to dispute it. Very poor "

" My pregnant wife and I went to collect our car at 12.30pm on 15th June- we had to queue in the hot sun for 1 hour before we even got to the counter to be served, it then took another 30 minutes for them to do all the paperwork, and hand me the keys. We did not leave until just after 2pm. We had to be back at the airport for 4pm to pick up a 2nd car with firefly (as other friends flights landed later than us), so we paid a full days hire for the use of a car for 2 hours - it meant it was a waste because as soon as we drove to somewhere for food, we had to drive straight back. If we would of know it would take so long to get the care hire we would of not bothered hiring it earlier, and just got it from 4.30pm, saving us a days hire. This was money wasted, and we were unhappy at this. The staff were very slow and had no clear order to their work, I would not recommend them, and would not hire with them again. "

" Easy to use website. However the price sometimes drops after I book and I have to keep rechecking the price, and then rebooking. It would be helpful if Auto Europe notified me of a rate drop and adjusted the price to save me the time of rebooking. "
" They don't mark all of the vehicle damage on the rental sheet. I usually take 20+ photos of the car before I drive away so that I don't get charged for damage (which I didn't cause) on return. They cars are often dirty both inside and out. They could do with upgrading the Interrent area in the car park in Bordeaux - they seem to share with Goldcar and there's not a lot of space. Sometimes there's a long wait to collect car at the desk as only one staff member. Also usually only one person checking cars back in - again shared with Goldcar. "

" Quickly served on pick up. The car was dirty on the outside and covered in scratches, which was ok as marked on the paper work. Was a little concerned with how the company would deal with the car on return, as difficult to imagine they could fairly identify new scratches from old. But we had no problems at all with the condition of the car on return. There wasn't actually an Inter Renal desk to return the car to, so that was a little confusing, but we asked around. And returned it to the Gold Car desk. Overall the price for the car was good, and would use again. "

" Very efficient pick up and drop off but the car was not great. The Toyota Aygo was Very under powered and hill starts were almost impossible. It is possible that the clutch just needed adjusting but it was a matter of parking so that the start was down hill or there were all sorts of difficulties. "
