" The set up an organisation was excellent at the point of booking and additionally the attraction with using you was the offer of the local pick up away from the airport and city was a factor. At pick up gentleman called Flavian was excellent and offered fantastic customer service and it was not his fault that the office was closing for a holiday which took the shine off the experience. "
" At the pick up I was advised that for the drop off the office was closed for a 2 week holiday (strange as it's peak season) so could I drop it off at another office, as I was staying in a nearby village to Mougin I said that wasn't possible, I was advised that I could drop it off at 11 (my booked return time was 14:00) and that someone would meet me. At 11 there was no one there. I called Lutam and they advised me to leave the car and put the keys in the letter box. I took a video and pictures off the car for my own piece of mind. I did receive an email from Lutam later in the day as acceptance although they did add some additional photos of the car suggesting some scuff marks that were not consistent with my own photos and videos. As it was signed and there was no one to meet me for the handover this is confirmation that all is good with both parties. I did try calling the numbers and sending an email to Lutam however these bounced back. "

" This was the worst car I have ever hired in my life. There were loads and loads of scratches and dents in this car. Additionally, it had NO power to get up the hills going from France to Italy. I literally had to use a lower gear to keep the car around 80km/hr. Everyone was passing me. It was unsafe to be in a vehicle that was so unresponsive and slow. Seriously. The extra costs were outrageous. Insurance, lowering your excess, roadside assistance...holy moly...the expense was not worth the vehicle. "

" pick up was good although not clear that the car hire wasn't located at the airport so unexpected taxi journey to the Radisson Hotel. Staff were blunt and to the point. Not overly welcoming. car itself was fine and collection easy enough. Night before we discovered our flight times changed and we had to return the car earlier. Lutam was shut and we had no way of contacting them. We needed to drop the car earlier than they opened. Not great. No 24 hour number to call. when we got there for them opening we had just over an hour till our flight left and we still had to get back to the airport and check in and drop bags. Staff did not care. No urgency. No help. Almost rude about the situation. Staff checked the car and said it looked good but inside the floors were dusty and needed hoovering or they would charge us 60 Euros. It was not excessively dirty and would take 3 mins to hoover but someone was using the hoover machine and we had no time. Refused to budge and told me to hoover it or pay 60 Euros. Never heard anything like it in my life and I've been renting cars for over 25 years. We left in disgust and would NEVER use Lutam again. "

" All in all, an extremely stressful time. I've been hiring cars for over forty years throughout Europe and Lutam are one of the worst companies I've experienced. The lack of staff to check returning cars and issue new rentals was completely compounded by the distant location in the basement of a hotel and also not having full details in the procedure to collect the car. I may hire again with Auto Europe, but never with Lutam. "
" My flight landed at Terminal 2. Instructions were to take the tram and exit at Terminal 1. There was a long queue for the ticket machine - Point 1 : the instructions didn't specify that the tram was free between the Terminals. The instructions specified from Terminal 1, to cross the P3 car park, go through the tunnel, cross the second car park, turn right and the office is on the left within the Radisson Hotel. This is a total distance of over 500 yards. I put my case onto a luggage trolley as was necessary. At Lutam's desk on the Radisson Hotel ground floor, I was told that car collection was 2 floors below in the basement, that there were no lifts and I had to carry my case down 2 flights of stairs. Additionally, I was told that I couldn't leave the luggage trolley at the hotel and would have to return it to Terminal 1. At the basement car collection, there was only one woman who alone was checking cars upon return and issuing cars for hire. It took over an hour for our car to be issued. The car had pre-existing damage, which was pointed out and acknowledged and was photographed by Lutam. I was told I would receive a copy of all the images by email showing the damage and was asked to write out my email address as well as my mobile number. I picked the car up on the Saturday. By Wednesday, I still had not received the images of the damage from Lutam. I phoned and asked again for the images and was told I must have given the wrong email address (this was a lie as I wrote it out), I was then told I'd receive the images within 24 hours. I still haven't received them. Upon returning the car, it was emphasised I must have a petrol receipt as " petrol guages are not accurate" and if one is not provided then I would have to pay a monetary penalty. Using my Sat.Nav., I went to the closest three petrol stations to the Radisson Hotel - all were closed. Finally I found one open behind Terminal 2. Dropping off the car at Lutam, Radisson Hotel, I negotiated the extremely tight ramps to Lutam's area within the vast underground car park and it was visually evident that many cars had collided with the car park walls prior to returning the car. "

" Their rates are very competitive but the disadvantage is that they are not on-airport being beneath a nearby hotel, so you need to leave extra time to return the rental car and get to the terminal to check into a flight. Access to the Lutam car return point is tortous and difficult to find in a labyrinthine basement car park with many structural obstructions. The car supplied was clean but had many scratches on it that took time to identify and record when collecting the car. On returning the car the check-in person spent an overly long time checking the condition of the car and had to rely on photographs that she took at the time in order to record the mileage and condition as her mobile device had no signal. Consequently, I was not provided with a report on the mileage, fuel status and condition of the car until later the same day. I was therefore left in some doubt as to whether the rental company would try to levy additional charges for damage or any other issues. I much prefer to know where I stand on such matters before I leave a car rental station. Fortunately no additional charges were levied subsequently, but had they been I would not have been able to argue my case at the time of returning the car. All of this said, I will probably rent from Lutam again as their prices tend to be significantly less than the on-airport operators and, having rented from them several times at Nice Airport, I can say that in my experience they are not scammers. "

" Small operation out of desk at front of Radisson airport hotel. No operative when I arrived, as she was working solo and in basement garage giving car to another customer. Check in was straightforward. Slightly difficult to find entrance to underground garage and very tight space wise. Very extensive check back in by operative. Slightly restrictive requirement that you must provide a fuel tank fill up receipt from a petrol station within 5km of drop off. Surely it would be adequate that the fuel gauge is indicating full for the next customer. Overall though it was very good and a budget price compared with direct from airport terminal rentals across the road. "

Never in 35 yrs of hiring cars have I ever had to hoover the car myself to avoid a fee! There was some sand etc which I would consider reasonable usage, no paper, mess marks of any kind, ridiculous, shown small print on contract petty and totally uncalled for. " We feel we have been badly let down and held to ransom as tourists from another country by a company knowing we have to catch a flight and unable to argue fully. It also felt that this lady was looking to get points, or extras on every car that comes her way. It would be interesting to know how many cars have issues upon returning necessitating an extra expense to be paid. "
" Picking up the vehicle at front desk I was advised to ensure it was returned with full tank and to provide receipt from petrol station this was all the information provided. Upon returning vehicle the car infront the lady inspecting the vehicle made a thorough inspection and discovered a scratch on back of vehicle - this is part of her role however it sent me a warning signal what was going to occur for us. Car was fully inspected and was OK we were then asked for petrol receipt - which we remembered we had to do - we filled the car up at two garages on way to make sure it would be full upon return - as it's very difficult to guage how much you need to put in to put it back to full. The second fill up on route topped it up to the full limit. We were advised by the lady at Lutam that the garage we used was not one that Lutam uses and is further away and we should have used a particular garage to fill up. We were then told that we would have to take the car back on the road to fill it up at this particular garage. We pointed out that you can see by turning on the ignition the tank is full - we were then advised that they would take the car and drive it to garage and fill it and charge us to take car and then fill it over 50 Euros - we were not happy with this lady then relented at taking vehicle out and said we had to pay fee of £21.50 for more fuel to be added. She then had the cheek to ask if we liked driving a French car. We were left with no choice or option but to pay this fee to avoid further charge. At no point were we told that the hire company do not recognise a full tank and that we must use a particular company to fill up at.The fee has come out of our account for £21.50 on 10th May 2023. "

" I feel the instructions of how to transfer from Nice airport to the hostel for pick up should be much more detailed for clients. Exactly how to get there, via the free transfer bus, from exactly where and to where is needed. We had to rely on a 'walk' instruction which was not clear (and with hindsight would have been far to far to actually walk). In the event, not knowing where on earth to go, we got advice from a local taxi at the rank to get the tram, then struggled in the heat to walk with bags a significant way to the hotel. It took ages. Then we had to wait some significant time for the single desk person to be found at the hotel and be available for handing over the car. In total this was an immense amount of time. After dropping off the car we were informed of the simple short walk to the free transfer bus stop. How much easier it would have been to have arrived this way initially! The lady dealing with the car handover and drop off was lovely and helpful and this task was swift. The car was great. A super organised way of detailing all the existing marks and damage to the car was helpful, although one mark was missed to be recorded at handover, but luckily we had taken all of the same photos at the time and were able to confirm this was there at the time of the handover with not fuss. Now we really know how to get there, we would use the firm again. "
