" We always use AE when visiting Santorini and always highly delighted. Usually cars from Goldcar. Very poor experience this time with Centauro. When i refused their own fully comp insurance (as purchased through AE) the attitude of the counter staff became very poor. We were given a key and pointed to a car with no walk around or any explanation of the car controls: loaded our cases and flight bags and tried to start the car. The key would not turn in the ignition. Went back to the office and one of the staff members came out to try it. A second lady then came out and gestured towards another car. We were clearly shown to the wrong car. Unloaded cases and bags and reloaded the correct vehicle. No apology offered for the confusion and again not shown any of the controls. Drove away to then find there was no screen wash when I tried to clean the windscreen. Upon return after 14 days rental where we did not have any accidents or bumps I was made aware of scuffs and light scratches on the rear bumper...clearly made by another car. I was charged €300 damage which I'm now claiming through the insurance taken out when booking the rental. Found the whole experience with Centauro poor on this occasion, BUT we will definitely continue to use AutoEurope for every trip. "

" The first car offered - a Citroen C3 - proved to be not acceptable as the plastic front bumper was upon inspection detached on the driver side (and the AVIS team were unaware of that til we pointed it out), The second car provided was - an Opel Corsa - was notably older (with over 11000 km on the clock, despite being on a small island...) with numerous scratches etc, and the fuel gauge was faulty, showing 3/4 full buy we were assured it was a fault not a part-empty tank. However when we came to fill the car before return the gauge went to the full mark, but the desk said that fault was intermittent and that the 15litre of full was compatible with the 200km we had driven! We have no way of knowing if that was the case. All in all, we felt we had been placed-off with a 'Budget' car rather than the 'Avis' car we had booked and paid for. Secondly, Avis desk said that as we had booked through yourselves, rather than direct, we forfeited the Avis Preferred Plus bonus of a free 2nd driver - and were therefore charged an extra €20 for the 4-day hire. PS We had arrived early to pick the car but the Avid desk declined to allow to bring the hire period - pick up and return - by an hour, claiming he hadn't received the car back yet, despite several cars sitting on the letting bay. All in all not the level of service expected from Avis! "

The staff who processed the work were quick despite some queues... the walkthrough of the vehicle felt a bit rushed, but the person did a decent job of walking me through the superficial surface damages already on the car. The vehicle interior and the child seats were slightly worn but otherwise very useable -- we didn't have an issue with this. There was a "glow plug" warning sign which came up a few times but didn't seem to affect the vehicle, but the staff said not to worry. I returned the car without any hassle. "

" Firstly, I was charged a "Late delivery fee" because our plane arrived late. The booking said that the pick up was "Sun-Mon all day", so I was not expecting that we would be charged. I took this up with Auto Europe upon return and was given the fee back. I don't think Budget should have charged it though in the forst place. Secondly, the car (Citroen C1) had covered 100,000 km and was very tired looking. It had no drivers sun visor which was quite dangerous on a couple of occasions. Even the number plate fell off at on point and was dragging only the ground, so I had to stop on a busy road to try and repair it myself. "

" Abbycar turned out to be Krios or Lignos Rentacar. I picked up the car outside a cafe and all paperwork was done in the street which was a bit disconcerting. The car was old with high mileage but lasted the eight days. The car for the customer in front of me would not even start. Drop-off was in the same location but I was told not to worry if no-one was there and to just leave the keys under the mat. I was early there and, in fact, a staff member was there and took the keys. "

" When we picked the car up from Santorini airport I can't say that the counter staff member was over friendly but we have to give him the benefit of the doubt maybe his English was not good. I would recommend taking out the higher insurance due to very high excess and after driving in Santorini I could see why it was set so high as we were amazed that we completed our holiday without a scratch as every day was an adventure! But on the plus side car was in good order and we actually got a slightly bigger car than we asked for and price was very good compared to others!! And same gentleman was a bit happier when we handed car over to him. "

" The whole process at Abbycar was difficult and the car issued was not what was requested in the booking and was very battered around car. They run a good scam on the fuel reading which you need to watch out for "

I had to wait for them for half an hour to come to give the car to me and they charged us late fee by lieing to me that the booking was for 10pm and not 9pm because that's the time they close so they can charge me late night charge of 25euros. It was taking advantage of the situation where I couldn't argue because I had a small child and my mrs with me in a new place. "
