" The car i was assigned had previous damage on the passenger side. This was pointed out to me; however, what was not was the damage to the tyre, which pomptly exploded on the highway. Luckily there was a spare tyre, i was able to fit. reading the insurance i was not covered for tyres, so i took the car to a tyre shop and they replaced the tyre (€196) and pointed out there were puntures on the front tyre, which they repaired at an additional cost. I was also informed by the tyre shop that there was damage to the brakes from the previous collision and these would need replacing ASAP. When i delvered the car back to Gobycar, i explained all of this, however, i feel this may have fallen on deaf ears as they have now got a car with a new tyre ( which should have been replaced before another person hired the car) and aa repaired front tyre. Customers should not be given a defective vehicle where it is obvious there has been a collision before being thoroughly reviewed by a qualified mechanic "

" The only problem I experienced was locating the car after the paperwork had finished. Directions were not clear enough and I was pushing a heavy luggage trolley and pulling along tired, hot children for too long. But this was a minor irritation. "

The worst part of this experience is feeling of being cheated. All customers complaint about staff's behavior once they leave this office. "

There was no signage in the main arrivals hall and even staff at the Hertz counter could not give us directions. The vehicle was left in perfect condition, but I recorded a video of all interior and exterior in case they try to make a claim of any damage. I have little confidence in them as a company. "

" In the run-up to the hire I thought it might be very late to pick up the car, and I called into Auto Europe to check. I was told (mistakenly) that pick up was not possible after midnight (in fact the voucher said 1am), so I had quite a bit of stress about the extra work needed to ferry back and forth to the airport and town. One AE staff member even denied there was a voucher while I was standing in the boarding queue at Gatwick. Everything else was fine apart from the stress. "

" Good afternoon, We have recently returned from our holiday where we had Car Rental through Avis from Seville Train Station. The voucher number was UK5539659 and was with Avis from Seville. We are 3 families meeting from across the world (2 x adults and 2 x children from New Zealand, 2 x Adults from Scotland, 2 x Adults from UK and 1 x Baby). We were all meeting in Seville for a reunion and had booked a Mercedes Vito or similar 9 seater for the rental. When we arrived at Avis on the day to collect the car we waited 45 minutes before we were seen. When we were seen by the reception desk it took them at least 30 minutes before they admitted that they did not have the vehicle for us. They spent a long time coming up with a solution before they offered to give us a 7 seater van and a car instead. We asked how long it would be before they could get a 9 seater van to us but they could not give us an answer. We ended up taking the van and the car because we had no other option. We had been with Avis for 2 hours by this point of the process and we wanted to get on the road. This was such a disappointing experience and left us really frustrated that we could not all travel together. I had the option to book through Enterprise but booked with Avis and was let down by them. The staff on the service desk did not seem bothered by the situation and did not show any empathy for the situation we encountered. I would ask that you please investigate this service and let me know if there is anything you can offer as an apology for the way we were treated by Avis? " I have used Auto Europe for as long as I can remember and have felt comfortable that if anything were to go wrong they would look after me. My advice is to always buy full insurance cover when ordering your car as we have seen many customers pay well over the odds at the counter when the hire company realises you have purchased basic insurance. In essence buying cheap insurance is a false economy. "

They argued with me saying their hires are by the hour. I proved to them at the counter that it costs the same when doing a dummy booking for 25hrs or 47hrs. It's a classic tactic of low cost rental companies to do anything to extort every penny they can as they are not charging enough initially. " I have been using auto Europe for years and love it, although I wish sometimes that you did more checking on your car suppliers. These days some of them don't offer you insurance, they threaten you with all sorts! They also tell you that unless you buy through them, you are basically entitled to nothing. And that includes any insurance you buy through auto Europe. "
" Since Goldcard has taken over Internet I have noticed a big change for the worst. They are more aggressive with their insurance selling and their general attitude. I have just had a problem with the car. The engine failed and they kept on telling me that I may have to pay for the recovery vehicle and the repairs. It was all they seemed to be interested in. So much so that the person dealing with the problem told me to drive around 60km a car that wouldn't go at more than 40km an hour, preferring to put their client in danger than to pay for a taxi to take me back to the airport to collect a replacement car. Eventually it was all sorted but they wouldn't confirm that they wouldn't charge me. They are still holding the deposit. I am also still waiting for an apology. I was 100km from Sevilla airport and had to go back to collect another car through no fault of my own. Not one person in the whole organisation, and I must have spoken to 6 or 7 say I'm sorry that we didn't clean the filters and left you stranded with an unfit for purpose car. Appalling! "

They told me that the rental didn't include recovery and I that I would be stranded in the event of a breakdown etc. They told me that the vehicle was perfect with no blemishes. This wasn't true. Good job I took photographs to show at the end of the rental.. There was even one large scrape over a wheel which had already been "varnished" over. Probably several unsuspecting tourists have ALL paid for this already- It is worth investigating because if they have this is fraud. Cheap rental but was it worth it. "

Thirdly it was not clearly explained that the tank needed to be returned only 45% full, which is a very strange amount, and practically almost impossible to do accurately on your own. " Not impressed with Interrent. They tried every trick, scare tactic to convince us to take out their additional insurance. One of the terms and conditions which I found out was that if the car breaks down and you need to call their recovery then your car hire is terminated there and then and they will not provide another car for the remaining duration of the rental, how can that be fair ? Oh if you took out their insurance this unfair policy term is waived. In addition they forced us to sign a document confirming the state of the car without having inspected the vehicle, the form said there were no damages. On pick up there were about 50 scratches which we had to photograph and evidence, not a great start to he rental. You need to have your whits about you dealing with these unscrupulous companies, beware!!!! "

On checking the car over I discovered a mark on the rear bumper and she amended the details with no trouble. " I would like Autoeuropa to be more transparent with the costs of hiring a car, particularly the extras that are sprung upon the customer on arrival. You need to research your client companies regularly to check up on their latest rouses to get more money out of the customer. "

You failed to tell me that if i had an accident the polcy would cancel immediately and i would not get a replacement vehicle even if it was the 1st day of the hire !!! " The Europcar salesman was very dishonest with us. (1) we accepted his offer to upgrade to a Mini "convertible" for an extra 10 euros per day, but the car wasn't a convertible. We only found out after we had paid, as we had to pick up the car from a nearby garage. (2) the upgraded car had a diesel engine, as one of the salesman's selling points was the in Spain, the cost of diesel was 0.25 euros per litre less than petrol. We later discovered that this is untrue; the correct figure is around 0.15 to 0.20 per litre. (3) he told us there were no marks on the car and we had to trust him, as we were to pick up the car from another place without being able to inspect it first. We discovered that the car had a number of marks on it. This wasn't an issue in the end, as I took photos of the marks when we picked up the car and Europcar didn't charge us for any repairs, but it did cause some stress during the trip. Firefly told me I was not fully insured & tried to sell me their upgrade for an extra 60 euros.. They were very pushy & didn't seem to know anything at sll about yours or how it worked. I then had to leave a 650 euro deposit as I didn't have theirs on a credit card I didn't have (I'd used a debit card for the booking). Luckily my girlfriend did & we used that. I also spent a long time bith on hold & during a call to yourselves to establish exactly how the insurance worked which cost a small fortune from a mobile. I would likely book direct with the rental company in future for this reason.. "
