As it was late at night, he suggested flicking flicking the open button on the remote to set off the flashers. That did not work because someone had left the vehicle open. So, nearing midnight we had to search for the licence number on the car. Shabby service. Photos of the car did not reflect the extent of the damage on the car's body work. However, I sent replacement photos. Drop off was equally a nightmare. We were not informed the rental drop off would be closed. Fortunately, a staff member from another company told us that Thrift expected drop offs to be left in the short stay car park, and the keys handed into to desk in the terminal. The desk clerk at drop off asked us for the bay number (sic)!! You can't make all this up. "

" On arrival at the Sixt/Flizzr desk at Shannon Airport, I was given a warm welcome by Derek Quinn who was very helpful and explained clearly the details of my booking arrangements and the potential additional options. In hindsight, it would have been helpful if we had discussed the process when I was returning the vehicle ie we followed the signs to the returns area to find that we had to park it in the short stay car park and drop the key back at the desk. Derek was particularly helpful when, having gone to pick up the car, I noticed a number of "marks/dents" which had not been noted in the email rental agreement I received. I returned to the desk and he provided me with his email address to enable me to send photos of this "damage" and duly emailed me back to acknowledge my email a short time after I had sent it. Given that some of the marks/dents were very apparent, I am a bit surprised that no record of these appeared on the rental agreement. "

However it is a nuisance as an over 75 to have to get a letter from my doctor to say I am still in good health. This is an expensive and time consuming exercise and unnecessary. As driving licences are only valid for a three year period I feel this should be sufficient evidence of "fitness to drive". "

It stood for 45 minutes in the queue waiting to be served (my flight took 1hr 10 mins!) The reason for my trip was due a family bereavement the day before. As you can appreciate, my family and I were in a distressed state and just wanted to get to our destination to comfort our family members. On returning the car on Tuesday 9 October, the drop off point was closed/locked and a sign advised to proceed to the car hire desk in the terminal. When I arrived, there was no-one on the desk to return our key and I was advised by a staff member from another car hire company to place my key in a box on the desk. As I had a flight to catch I felt I had no other option than to do this. I was disappointed that an inspection of the vehicle was not carried out and that I was unable to advise anyone where the car was parked in the airport car park. I have yet to receive any confirmation that the car has been returned and am unable to find a telephone number that I can call to discuss/query. I have sent an emailing asking that someone contact me urgently and have still not received a response however have noticed that i have been charged an additional £60! "

" I had booked a car with a collect full, return full fuel policy. On collection, i was told I had to pay for a full tank at a high price, and would be given credit for any remaining fuel. This charge was converted to sterling without asking if I wanted this. So I returned the car empty, and only then was I told I would have had a full refund if i had returned it full. Desk staff need to be a lot clearer on this - I estimate I paid an extra £30 for fuel compared with what I should have done. Would not use budget again. "
