" Generally I do always have a great experience with Sixt but this time O was disappointed: (1) I booked via Autoeurope a vehicle for 5+ people as we were 5 people traveling with 2 kids in car seats. The car we were given was very small and for the adult who had to sit in the back with the kids it was very uncomfortable. I asked the staff about it and was told that I could only change the car by paying an additional supplement. The specs of the cars on offer need to be better categorized to avoid those issues. (2) A few miles into driving I got told to fuel up icon Ad Blu. I am not driving a Diesel vehicle at home and at the pickup was not told that I need to watch out for Ad Blu... Also very frustrating to have to fuel up for (€30+) and not get a car already fueled up... (3) Within as well a couple of hours driving I got a warning lamp saying the tyres need filling up.... Again would not expect to have to do that on a rental and 3/4 tyres had insufficient air. The location for picknup was great, the car is a very good one, but Sixt should categorize the cars better to avoid space issues, check those Ad Blu levels and make sure tyres are filled up. "

" I've shared this with Sixt also but the rental experience was overall very positive (especially being able to return to a different location). There were two items worth mentioning though: 1) On collection I was advised that a Hong Kong driving licence is no longer acceptable in Austria. On return to Hong Kong, I queried this with the Austria Consulate who confirmed that Hong Kong licenses with IDP remain valid for car hire in Austria. However they advised that a technical issue in the ÖAMTC Website caused confusion to car hire companies and they will ask the relevant authority to fix this. Not Sixt's fault, but I thought it worth mentioning anyway as it could create problems for future customers. 2) No one was present for the return. That's absolutely fine - I called the number published and returned keys to the secure box. However later in the day I received an email about new damage to the car. This was surprising as the car was only ever parked on a secure, empty driveway. I assume this was all sorted out however as my deposit was returned in full - it just caused a negative feeling for a few days after the rental. "

" I have always had good service through Autoeuropa and Sixt, so this was a surprise. I would be nice if we were told in advance that this car was not available. We clearly indicated the car was for 5 people which is a full car with luggage. "
" I specifically booked a minivan category vehicle because we were 5 people, including 2 tall men with luggage. At Sixt, they didnt have the car that I booked and gave us another much smaller which they regarded as an upgrade. I had to tell them it was not suitable and they blamed the problem on Autoeurope category being different to theirs. This wasn't true.. In the end they tried to help get a bigger car for us but we ended up paying for an Audi A6 combiner's which wasn't much bigger and still a tight squeeze for us. At least they tried but we expected to get the car we booked, and that I had researched to make sure it was big enough with potential of a 7 seater. " Our EasyJet flight EZY8295 on Wednesday 8 March was delayed by around an hour and a half due to the snow in South East England. So instead of landing at Innsbruck at 2.35pm, the flight landed just after 4pm. The Sixt staff closed the counter at Innsbruck airport at 4pm and left around 12 people stood at their empty counter around 4.30pm with no rental car. I phoned the Sixt customer services and they could not help but made a note on their database of the delay due to the snow in the UK. We made our way to Lech by taxi, train, and bus. I phoned Auto Europe and they are putting in a request for a refund or partial refund from Sixt. I could not collect the car from Sixt the next day as it takes an hour and a half to travel back to Innsbruck from Lech, and another hour and a half to drive back, so a three hour round trip to collect a rental car. I think it was very poor of the Sixt counter team to go home at 4pm when an EasyJet flight was known to have been delayed from London. "

Then came the e-mail the next day, claiming damage, and showing scratches to the front passenger side alloy wheel. Fortunately, I had taken a full series of photos of the vehicle at time of rental, sent them the photo showing the alleged 'new' damage, and -unsurprisingly-the complaint was withdrawn. Probably an innocent mistake, but it's the sort of incident that one associates with dodgy little car hire outfits, and not with a 'reputable' large company. I'd use them again, but always be careful. Take photos! "

" My issue with this rental is not around the condition of the car or Sixt staff, but the car I ended up with. Per the Auto Europe website in the estate category I selected an Opel Insignia estate. I know that there will be differences on your website to a providers actual fleet, but a Mercedes B class is not what I call an estate and it is was very marginal fitting everything in causing unecessary stress. Is there a way to update your descriptions or find instances like this out ahead of rental pick up? "

Very unsatisfactory service. Your customer service reps refused to help which is unbelievable in the current situation where flights get booked and re-booked within hours. I cannot understand how you couldn't even move the reservation. Sixt confirmed they wouldn't take any of the money paid to you as I've informed them the booking was to change, so Auto Europe kept the fee without delivering a service. You need to look at your customer treatment as this is unacceptable! "
