Told it would be an automatic and would be brought from the garage, probably take 25-30 mins. 1 1/4hrs later the car finally arrived. It was clean, but not sparkling, and tank was not completely full. Was given keys and told where to find the car. No paperwork to show scratches or scrapes. Not impressed! Drop off was very efficient: hardly any checks, just mileage and fuel "

" I paid the full price for the vehicle and the insurance. When I collected the ehie I was told that the insurance did not cover everything. When I received the invoice from Sixt, I appear to have been charged to items such as the environmental charge and the local supplement, which were listed as included in the price I paid to Auto Europe. It would have been better to go directly to Sixt and saving the money on the double charge for insurances and fees. "

" Pretty terrible experience from start to finish. On arrival to pick up the car, we were given one which was covered in sand, presumably from a recent storm. It was filthy, which made a mockery of safety (all the windows needed cleaning by us before we could safely drive off). The staff member carrying out the check-out did nothing to resolve this, even though a row of clean Sixt cars were available. Then, on return of the vehicle, there was no-one at the desk. This was fine, although it was a little perturbing to see 6 unopened bottles of beer sat on the desk (I hope the staff weren't planning to drink these on their next shift!). I left the keys on the safe, before the check-in time. However, I then received an email later that day asking whether I needed to extend my rental, so clearly your staff don't check the safe (maybe they had started drinking the beers by this point??). Then, most annoyingly, I received a bill from Sixt charging me a further 60,52 EUR!! The invoice attached for this was completely illegible (is this deliberate) but I can only assume that this was a charge for an extra day's rental. If so, I expect this to be refunded and maybe suggest your team focus on checking the key drop-off before tucking into the San Miguel beers ... Overall, very bad service from Sixt, and the additional charge abive what Auto Europe quoted is just unacceptable. "

" Everything went well except the car which we were given MB CLA220 EST DI AUT. There were 5 of us travelling over the weekend which I why I chose an Estate level but was given this which is a great car for a maximum of 4 but definitely is not worthy of a vehicle for 5. In the back the seating is slopped at each edge which means you cant sit comfortably at all with 3 in the back. In fact it was the most uncomfortable journey I have had ever. There wasnt a choice of another vehicle it seems so we were stuck but sadly it did spoil our travelling to and from a wedding which we came out for. "

My only negative comment is there was a large A4 sized sticker which had been put into the front of the car window screen and scrapped off leaving 80% of it behind therefore an unsightly mark very noticeable on the front passenger side of the car. This was highly embarrassing as I was using the car to collect clients, all if which commented. It looked like a 'special offer' sticker had. Even removed! We were upgraded to a larger car than we really needed, and it was diesel - I'd have preferred petrol. The staff didn't try to push extra insurance on me (a pleasant relief - they asked just once) and the offer of bottled water was a nice touch. On checking the car there were a few extra scrapes not recorded on the contract - and no one about - so we took photos and tried to deal with it on our return at drop-off. " This rental has been a farce made worse by the difficulty in getting in touch with auto Europe when the rental car developed a dashboard orange alert . After three hours of ringing SIXT and Auto Europe we were promised that someone would get in touch the next day and help to sort things out. Needless to say this didn't happen. My advice to anyone is not to use Auto Europe and certainly not to rent a vehicle from SIXT. This company has been singularly unhelpful and when we dropped the car off the person supervising the hand over chalked up a message on the car's windscreen saying "car needs a service". This car should never have been released for hire. Furthermore, the counter staff at SIXT were not at all helpful, the queue was long (took us best part of 2 hours from start to finish)and the phone numbers for the SIXT office at NICE airport (which Auto Europe provides on the contract) simply do not work. It seems this is common knowledge at the car rental centre at the airport and interestingly as we were handing over the car another customer of SIXT arrived complaining that it was impossible to get in touch with the Nice office as the phone number provided wasn't functioning. Finally, the car wasn't properly checked at pick up as there were no staff available. Also there was no paperwork in the car other than the French car manual. In the end we handed the car back early as the stress of driving with the orange spanner alert light constantly going off finicky git to me. I hope someone from Auto Europe gets in touch after this review but on past. experience I doubt it! Go elsewhere if you want. a good rental experience! "

" I am unhappy because a) I was charged 350 euros to 'upgrade' from a Peugeot 3008 category to a VW Tiguan and b) I was charged 250 euros for the location of the rental car at the train station. As to the upgrade, no doubt Sixt put the Tiguan into a different category to the 3008, but everyone knows that they are equivalent vehicles. The cars they offered in the 3008 category were clearly very inferior to the 3008. I suspect the 3008 is just a rogue car they put in the category to disguise the nature of the majority of the vehicles in that category - the ones that are actually available to the customer. As to the location, I have not come across such a charge before, there was nothing about this extra charge when I booked - unless it was hidden in very small print somewhere. My search was for a car picked up from the station, and I should have been charged the price quoted for it. I have challenged this with Sixt. They will not reduce the price. "

" I have used Sixt previously without any problems. On this occasion I received a hard sell for additional insurance cover despite telling the Sixt person on the counter at Avignon TGV that I had additional Excess cover via a UK annual insurance policy. The Sixt counter person was very aggressive and I felt I was being treated as an idiot. I have been hiring cars in France for over 20 years, I speak French fluently, and have never received this kind of treatment. I dread to think what it would be like if you are British and don't speak any French. Also, within 2 hours of picking up the Citroen C3, there was an amber alert concerning checking the tyre pressures. Upon checking, the front passenger tyre was found to be below pressure (2 bar instead of 2.5 bar). As a result we had to go to another Sixt centre in La Valette sur Var to pick up a new car, which wasted half a day of our holiday. I was very surprised that this should happen so soon after picking up the car. I have complained about it in my review for Sixt. I have no issue with Auto Europe as I have used you before, but think you should be aware of the particular treatment we experienced this time with Sixt. "

" We booked a manual car with a large boot. On arrival we were told they didn't have a manual car and when you book on line if you request automatic you are guaranteed an automatic, if you book manual it will depend if they have any on pick up or not. We were told the car was an upgrade, almost brand new. We went to the car and yes, it was a good, clean, new car - but the boot was far too small. We went back in to the office to explain we couldn't get our luggage in. The same girl who gave us the car proceeded to pretend she didn't understand English very well (when previously she spoke excellent English and understood us perfectly). She just kept shrugging her shoulders, and saying she didn't understand, we had an upgrade car we should be happy. We explained we didn't want an upgrade we just wanted a car the same size as the one booked, bad enough it was automatic and not manual as we had booked, but even worse the boot was not big enough. She told us there was no alternative. We tried other offices at the airport there were no other cars available so we were stuck with the car offered by SIXT - we had no alternative but to take the car offered. My teenage daughter spent the entire journey with a very large suitcase on the back seat crushing her. Very miserable and upset! Several other customers were also complaining - one customer got an electric car and did not want that as didn't want to keep stopping to recharge, another customer was 20mins early for pick up and was told to wait outside. Large queue, and it seemed nobody got what they had booked. I will never book a car form SIXT again. "

" we went to pick up the car after booking with yourselves at Nantes airport on Sunday the 16th Feb but when we went to pick up car there was a problem with my Barclays card in that the swiper would not except it although I phoned my bank who said there was no problem with my card that I had sufficient funds in place. My bank then spoke to the lady on the desk & informed her there was no fault with the card & indeed it was the same card that I paid the initial booking of £166.55 with. I then offered to pay the 300 euro in cash but apparently you don't accept cash. I was obviously very upset as we had come to Nantes to view 2 properties but without the use of the car we could not make the viewings and had to also cancel our hotel. I have lost a lot of money since the whole purpose of the trip was to view 2 homes in the view of purchasing one. We then had to book another hotel close to Nantes Airport, taxis each way to and fro and generally it was a dreadful experience. We were fortunate that the hotel we were due to stay with refunded our full money even though it was not their policy and was given and received as a gesture of goodwill. Obviously we would be very grateful if you could look into the matter and surely a refund should be given from yourselves as we had paid in full on said card and offered to pay cash re holding fee and even got our bank to speak to your lady on the desk but all to no avail. We paid for a car that we were not permitted to use, we had to cancel our plans and obviously we are not rating Sixt at all or your customer service. We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your help in this matter. "

They also did not provide the usual line drawing of a car with damages circled that car hire companies normally provide. If they had, I would have circled the damage. As it was, no drawing, I trusted that as it was minor they knew about it and all was fine. We drove off. When we returned to have the car checked over, the man checking the car went almost immediately to the scratch on the hood and said "You scratched the car". I was astonished. he wrote down "deep scratch" I told him we did not scratch the car and it was not "deep' and refused to sign his damage "report'. What a joke. Now they are trying to charge us in excess of €500 to repair the scratch. How many other customers have paid to "repair" the same scratch. "

" I booked a compact SUV vehicle or equivalent. On arrival at Geneva I was told by the Sixt counter staff that the equivalent vehicle offered by them was a Citroen C3. They also advised me that they didn't recognise your nil damage insurance so that if I returned the vehicle damaged I would have to pay the 1300 Euro excess on their booking. To avoid the issues with the excess and have a car big enough to carry two cases he offered me an BMW 1 Series with no excess for an additional 260 Euros. In light of the size of the excess I paid for the BMW. It's shady practice by Sixt to advertise a sizeable compact SUV and then actually offer me a Citroen C3 as an equivlent and I am surprised that, as their agent, they don't recognise your excess insurance. The car itself was great as I've had BMWs before but the whole car hire experience tarnished an otherwise lovely holiday for me and my family. I wouldnt hire from you or Sixt ever again and will gladly tell every one I speak to in my business about the poor experience. "

Given a Renault Kaptur. I pointed out that the car offered was smaller than the car booked. They told me that they considered the Kaptur an upgrade. The boot was 25% smaller than a 308 and so we could not fit all our luggage. After 20 minutes in the 42-degree heat, had to cram everything into the front for the 3-hour drive. One car seat was defective, so that had to be replaced. We drove off only to find that the rear camera didn't work, the touch screen didn't work and the rubber seals around the sunroof came away. Brilliant. I called customer services, who apologised and agreed with me that the car was not an upgrade from the Peugeot 308. In fact, it was in the class below according to the customer service representative. That's totally unacceptable. We were lied to at Avignon TGV station. They agreed to switch the car because of the defects and the replacement was fine for the rest of the trip. In all, the worst experience I have ever had with a car hire company. The car was not full of fuel , and the aircon was appalling for operating in such a hot climate - there was no cooling effect in the rear seats and the control had to be set to 14 max auto and recirc to be slightly effective "

Can't understand why agents/brokers like Auto Europe use cowboys like Sixt when a simple Google review of 'Sixt fake damage claim' throws up multiple examples of what is currently happening to me. I have insured excess via Auto Europe and have not yet tried to claim on that until I hear back from Sixt on whether they are going to try to charge me for damage I did not cause. People go on holiday to relax and have a good time. Having to deal with stuff like this when you get home is no fun at all, especially when you did nothing wrong. "
" Sixt contacted me yesterday claiming that damage had been done to the rear passenger-side door - a >10cm dent with no paintwork damage. The original handover paperwork identifies the only damage as a >10cm dent on the rear driver-side door. Sixt are claiming that I damaged the car which is absolutely not true. I think they have mixed up their passenger side from their driver side and they are seeing the same dent that is detailed in the handover paperwork. Otherwise, if an identical dent has appeared on the other side of the car we are dealing with an almighty coincidence! To be clear, there was no damage to the car whilst in my possession. Still awaiting further info from Sixt, but they appear to be cowboys who employ this false damage claim tactic regularly. The Sixt employee on the desk in Geneva - called Jordy - was more concerned that we gave him a top rating. He directed us to a poor quality supermarket despite claiming to live in our destination, Morzine. When we arrived back to drop off point, we called Sixt from the drop-off area on the Sixt telephone. We wanted to make sure that a Sixt employee would examine the car to confirm no additional damage had been done during our rental. The Sixt employee who answered the telephone refused to come to the drop-off area and insisted I just park up and drop off the keys at the desk. Sixt have not provided any evidence of the so-called additional damage. "

We learned on the 4th day of the hire (from a kind passing motorist) that the break lights on our vehicle were not operative. The staff at the desk in the airport on collecting our vehicle and in the garage on-return were efficient and polite. Having more than one member of staff on duty at the aiport desk would have reduced queueing time. "

Staff at drop-off were, by contrast, wonderfully helpful, Veronique (I think I have the name right) drove me to the car cleaning area to check for something I'd forgotten, then did everything to help when we needed our car back due to a flight cancellation, arranging a one-way extension so we could take a flight from another airport the next day. "

" Due to the delay I contacted Auto Europe. Then I was informed that as it was going to be more than 2 hours after the designated pick up time the hire company had no obligation to hold the vehicle for me even though they had been paid both by you and me. This was not a term and condition that was highlighted and I would say that this is a major problem that needs immediate correction. similarly I then discovered from your operator that they are not allowed to contact the hire company if the delay is more than 2 hours. This again left me with the risk of no appropriate vehicle and potentially no reimbursement. I could not speak with the hire company direct as they would only dealt with the agent you. these terms should be renegotiated of if not openly highlighted on your website and documentation as they are onerous and potentially very expensive. All in all the experience when knowing this added to the stress of a very long day with the only hope as your operator said being the hope that the hire company had not rehired the vehicle out "

One point deducted for 1. above as mass of signs made it difficult to find the correct route in to drop-off, especially when amongst heavy traffic. Also and although not caused by Sixt, the various roadworks around Blagnac and Toulouse made it extremely difficult to find the route to Narbonne - perhaps the car hire companies could produce a leaflet to guide customers to some of the more principal routes as the current signage around Blagnac was abysmal. This is not due to an unexpected number of clients as they know how many people are booked and when they are arriving...and it was the same last year. I made the mistake of thinking last year was exception but apparently not! ...they just don't employ enough people meaning it takes more than 1 hour to get a car. When I did get to the agent, who was pleasant and efficient, they said they would upgrade me to a larger car free of charge. I naively thought great, only to discover it was a Kangoo and a small bus. Grateful to get out after more than an hour I looked at the contract for any indication of damage, only to find a limited number of 3 letter acronyms seemingly describing some damage. You cannot decipher the content. Then at the car you find a piece of paper on the seat, advising you'll be charged €50 if the car is deemed not clean enough on its return but more annoyingly a request to look over the car for any damage and take images of any damage that is not already detailed on the contract. A- you cannot analyse the damage recorded on the contract to know what it is B- You are only allowed to take 7 images C- You are requested to send the images to an email address using your own phone and data etc... D- You only have 30 minutes to do this from when the Contract was completed So basically SIXT takes an already anxious and expensive part of a holiday, with all the up-selling that goes on with Car Hire, and makes it worse by complicating and reducing support to the point of stupidity. " We ordered an Opel Astra but at the desk were told the car would be a Honda Civic. We were then told that our two cases would not fit in the Honda so they said we can have a BMW 2 which was more expensive. However it was too large and they said we can have an upgrade to a BMW1 which was too low for us. We then tried other cars until we were offered the Honda Civic which they had previously said was unsuitable. The Honda Civic was large enough for all our luggage so it took over 2 wasted hours to get back to the same car. "

" I have used Auto Europe for many years now to get a satisfactory rented car in many countries in Europe with no problems in the past, and until now have been able to recommend it to friends and family. However this time there were difficulties at both the ends of the hire period, which resulted from the information provided by Auto Europe. The addresses given in the Auto Europe on line voucher were both completely wrong. The address of the SIXT office for the pick up in Clermont had apparently been changed more than a year ago while the drop off address in the rue d'Armagnac in Bordeaux was a building site surrounded by roadworks. It turned out that the SIXT office was now accessible from the station car park but it took the best part of an hour to find it. This meant that we were considerably delayed in being able to drop off the car and as a result missed the train to Paris that we were booked on. This in turn caused us to miss our Eurostar connection to London and incurred considerable extra expense. I feel that as a regular past customer of Auto Europe some compensation is needed and I await your response to this report. "
