Cyprus Car Hire Opens a Whole World of Adventure

    Cyprus

Stunning beaches, massive mountains, interesting history, lovely food and lovely people - my boyfriend and I went to Cyprus for a week and loved it! Are you planning a trip to Cyprus? Do you need some tips? Cyprus has become a major tourist destination for Europeans looking for sun and warm weather all year round. Following my recent trip, here are a few ideas for you.

We stayed in Paphos and hired a car to move around. This is the best way to explore the island and visit both the major attractions and discover several isolated, charming spots well away from the crowds.Paphos has a good range of hotels catering for all budgets. Coral Bay is the best beach close by, but you can also venture to other beaches such as Laatchi and Kefalos. Paphos also has a busy nightlife with clubs and excellent seaside restaurants in a great looking harbour. Here, you can also admire a large collection of colorful Roman mosaics in the Paphos Archaeological Museum or take a picture under iconic Greek columns in the Tombs of the Kings.

Cyprus is a relatively small island. A trip from Paphos to Ayia Napa (West to East of Cyprus) will take you about 3 hours (and no tolls!). Motorways in the south are very good and most of the attractions are only a short drive away. Along the way from Paphos you can see Kourion, an ancient site with a large Greco-Roman amphitheatre overlooking a spectacular view to the sea. To the north, you can explore the Akamas peninsula, the most remote part of Cyprus. Make a stop at Polis, a picturesque town with a fish market and a square surrounded by coffee shops and restaurants. Head to the Baths of Aphrodite, where she supposedly met Adonis and showered before getting married. You can enjoy stunning views of the Polis Bay and its small 'coves' that are great for snorkeling/diving while you are there. From Paphos, you can also drive to Troodos, a mountain range with forests and the highest peak in Cyprus, Mount Olympus (1,952 metres). Visit the Kykkos Monastery, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Cyprus.

If you decide to stay in Ayia Napa then it's best to fly into Larnaca. For Northern Cyprus visitors should plan to fly into Nicosia International Airport. With a hire car in Cyprus you can make your holiday much more of an adventure as you can combine relaxation on the different beaches this country has to offer as well as enjoying the many unexpected places you'll discover along the way.
